American fashion designer Ralph Lauren was born in the Bronx as Ralph Rueben Lifshitz. After dropping out of business school, he started his own label, Polo Ralph Lauren, in 1967. Originally, the Polo brand made men’s ties, today, the classic preppy lifestyle brand produces everything from clothing to housewares.
Fragrances were introduced in 1978 with Polo and Lauren. Other scents include Chaps (1979), Safari (1990), Safari for men (1992), Polo Sport (1994), Polo Sport Woman (1996), Romance (1998), Glamourous (2001), Polo Blue (2002), Blue for women (2003) and Lauren Style (2004).

The Ralph by Ralph Lauren fragrance line
The Ralph by Ralph Lauren range, which targets a younger customer than the regular line, was inaugurated in 2000 with Ralph. Subsequent entries include Ralph Cool (2004), Ralph Hot (2006), Ralph Rocks (2006), Ralph Wild (2008).
