Happy Almost-Friday, and happy Bastille Day! What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm in Chanel Cristalle.
Reminder: on 7/15, wear one of your "top 10 of summer" fragrances (unless it's winter where you are, in which case wear one of your "top 10 of winter" scents)
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2016, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
Note: top image is detail from the 2016 Bastille Day poster of the Alliance Française de Philadelphie.
I’m wearing another Lutens classic; Ambre Sultan, which together with A la Nuit is the first Lutens I ever bought.
Drinking an Orange Pekoe from the Azorean islands, it’s really nice.
You smell great!
Ambre Sultan and Chergui are the only two SL full bottles I possess. This perfume is probably my favourite amber.
SOTD – Aedes de Venustas, the original.
Vive la France!!
You smell lovely 🙂
Still dealing with stomach bug and woke up at the time I’m normally in the office – forgot to set alarm.
In the office now, barely functional with no makeup and forgot my sweater to deal with the AC chill.
But at least I remembered to shower myself in South Bay because it’s gross as all hell out there so I’m covered in pomelo goodness.
Oh u poor thing, at least u smell good!
Yeah, that’s about all I’ve got going for me today…
Ugh. Hope the day improves for you!
I do too. I’ve got too many things planned for this weekend to be sick.
Oh, I hope you kick that stomach bug and feel better asap!
I shall put on something French later, for Bastille Day.
Marni for me tho , I’m wearing a long Paisley dress today, in reds, Browns & pinks, it calls out for a lovely spicy rose to compliment it.
Dress sounds wonderful. I think you asked me where you can sample Histoires de Parfums in London, and I just saw a bottle of 1969 in a little shop near me, I am not sure where else they would be available.
Marni is such a great scent.
Guerlain Eau de Fleurs de Cedrat today. My sunshine in a bottle.
Perfect!
Wearing No 22 Chanel.
After pondering whether or not I needed to purchase an Exclusif before the price hike/renaming/possible reformulations in September I wore my twenty-years-old EDT for a few days and fell in lust.
Purchased a discounted Exclusif on the bay and have worn it 10 times in the past 3 weeks. Quite monogamous for a perfume pansexual.
Glorious stuff ! 🙂
I have been debating this daily! I really *shouldn’t* but…
Do it. If you change your mind you could always sell/swap the bottle.
:^) Jus’ sayin’.
“perfume pansexual” – love it. You smell great, too.
Thanks ! 😀
Your mention of No. 22 had me immediately digging in my samples for my little vial of the EdT. In the past I’ve worn it only in the evening, for no reason other than a bed-time Chanel habit.
No. 22 is SO much better for me in the daytime. Wowza!
I’m glad to enable. It really is beautiful without being fussy.
EL BG today.
Stay cool and safe, NSTer’s. It’s Almost Friday Day! ????
I love Cristalle EDT.
As for me, I sprayed some Rue Cambon. I finally tried it. It is indeed beautiful. Green, but not light, grassy green, but deep and dark green.
I like this description.
You smell fabulous. No, it’s definitely not grassy. If I had to describe it in one word, it would be “warm”.
SOTD is a touch of H.O.T. Always (Bond no. 9).
It is hot! Wearing YR Monoi oil and AG Songes EDT and EDP.
This sounds like a wonderful combination!
Seconding austenfan, it sounds perfect for a hot day.
This is lovely!
I’m wearing Smell Bent Fashiony. I hope that they bring this one back as a permanent smellie!
Love this brand, and you rarely hear about their scents. Silly names, but some very nice scents.
I like them, too!
Still sampling and SOTD is Dior La Colle Nuit. It’s a very jammy perfume-y rose. Very pretty opening. I needed something girly after last night’s Beaufort 1805. That one made me think of trees, smoke, Bacos (not actual bacon) and lettuce. NOT a good combo for me but Enabler husband loved it. He did not like yesterday’s Zoologist Bat but As the day wore on, I really did!
Bacos !
Gotta love the ’70s !
I’m a Bat fan, too!
1805 is brawny stuff, as are the other 2 original Beaufort scents. I bought a FB of Coeur de Noir but I’m not sure of 1805 (now “1805 Tonnère”) – I both liked and was repelled by it. I was similarly intrigued by East India (now “Vi et Armis”) which has incredible power, but my partner hated it with a passion so not sure a FB is on the cards.
Old Spice, which tends to hide in the back of the cabinet and get forgotten, but it’s SO GREAT, a gorgeously complex men’s oriental that to me smells mostly of carnations and gasoline. In a good way, obviously.
I actually wore it because I was going to wear another carnation-heavy scent which I then realized was my not only a top-ten summer scent for me but my Top Scent of Summer Ever so I have to save it for tomorrow.
Old Spice really does smell good, doesn’t it? People- heck even pop culture likes to make fun of it, but really it’s a great scent!
It really is so great.
Old Spice don’t get no respect. But it’s wonderful.
Have they never changed the scent? I could smell like my dad in the ’50s?
My father and grandfather both wore it: my bottle is probably ten years old and if they changed it from the fifties, they sure didn’t change it very much. I would bet the bottle on the drugstore shelf today smells very much the way it did half a century ago.
Oh, I miss that stuff. Dad was an Old Spice guy and I haven’t smelled it in years.
Take time if you can and smell it again. I bet you be so happy.
I love Old Spice on my husband, doesn’t work so great on me.
If you smelled it blind, if someone put some in a sprayer and told you it was a limited summer edition from Chanel or Givenchy or Dior, do you think you might like it better? Because it really is amazingly unisex (it’s VERY floral in the middle) and well made, but it has so many connotations for so many people: cheap, granddad, obnoxious. And it’s none of those things.
I’m only asking because in her Perfume Guide, Susan Irvine said she did a blind test with a bunch of friends and they unknowingly agreed that Old Spice as the best, the sexiest and most appealing of the scents.
That’s a good question. I went into it really wanting to like it, so I let it sit longer than I would have otherwise. The opening was all right, but then it went super sweet on me, which I can’t stand. It ended up being a scrubber. I was really disappointed because I thought it would be fun if my husband and I could wear the same scent. And I really do love it on him. . .
I think smelling this would make me cry. Worn proudly and loudly by my only scent wearing family member, my late brother.
I should say I hated it at the time!
Everybody hated Brut and Drakkar Noir, too, but that was mostly from overexposure: when they were new, they were really good. (Yes, Brut was good once upon a time: very very strong, mind you, which is why a few years later they launched Brut 33, which had one third, or 33%, of the perfume oils.)
I have always liked Brut and, on my skin at least, preferred it to Old Spice (which smells like singed hair on me and perfectly fine on my husband).
You smell great. Old Spice is soooo good!
Old Spice is so good.
Started in Cashmere Musk by Illuminum and then added some Premier Figueir later. All sorts of sweet figgy goodness and it looks like we are set for some warmer weather in England.
Pichola again.
DH said it’s too strong, which means he hates it, but I loooove it!
I love it too, sorry your dh does not!
Well I think you smell great!
Robin, we are twins! Is this first? We smell soooo good!
You DO smell good – Cristalle is GORGEOUS!
Triplets! It is doing great for another hot and humid day here. Happy Bastille day to all our french friends.
Hey, triplets, how fun!
Quadruplets! You all smell so good.
Wearing my new bottle of Acqua di Parma Iris Nobile edt, the original, that I purchased off of ebay. It’s beautiful and having smelled the newer version I knew it would be an iris I could love. Very fresh, classy and pretty. Wears for a decent amount of time too.
Yum! Nice find.
I love that one, too!
I’m trying Diptyque Eau des Sens, a sample of which came with a recent order. On me it’s a lovely little straight-up orange blossom, and it’s in its soapy phase right now which caused my husband to wrinkle his nose … so I guess this would be one that I’ll have to enjoy when he’s elsewhere.
And enjoy QUICKLY. Another half-hour and it was completely gone – fortunately before I left the house, so I’ve switched to Azemour and will enjoy it slowly all day. Ahhh, Azemoooooour. 🙂
Wearing random samples of Cognoscenti No.17 Civet Chypre and Andrea Maack Craft. No.17 is a definite winner since I keep huffing my wrist; Craft is crisp pine but so far nothing compelling
Coven was the only Andrea Maack that grabbed me-enough to now have a full bottle.
Vive La France!
1) At first, put on Cucumber/Melon Body mist from Bath and Body Works, because i was feeling nostalgic for some reason. I got it for CHEEEP the other day.
Very crisp and juicy, but man, is it artificial- kinda like a detergent scent? So I am going to use this on sheets after ironing them.
2) So in The Body Shop’s Satsuma Body Mist. Much better, and seems to mesh nicely with the prior c/m application.
I am very impressed that you iron your sheets!
It’s really easy because I got this huge ironing contraption from a thrift store years ago. I just put on a movie and get to ironing everything made of cotton/linen/ramie. Ironed sheets are the best, especially in the summer!
I am VERY bad about ironing, but maybe if used it as an excuse to watch a movie I’d improve.
If I ever got rich I am pretty sure I would hire someone to iron my sheets and to change the bed every day. Because that to me is luxury. If there’s anything better than climbing into a freshly made bed after a nighttime shower, I don’t know what it is.
I also use TV and movies as excuses to do housework. 🙂 You smell great! The Body Shop scents are so great to spray with abandon.
You smell good. I really need to pick up a bottle of the Satsuma body mist. I huff the bottle every time I see it and then buy more shower gel instead.
I iron my pillowcases a) because it’s so easy, b) they look so good with those ironed creases, and 3) they smell–and iron–so great after a scented spray. But sheets–too big!
I just bought the Satsuma body oil and mist for a friend and got a free body oil for myself. It is delicious. I went in thinking I’d get her grapefruit, but I smelled this one and thought it was lovely.
Going to the symphony later with a friend, and wearing TF Noir Pour Femme. Perhaps not perfect for 100ish degree weather, but I love it as a going out/party scent.
What is the symphony playing?
We’re going to see the NSO Pops play music from House of Cards. I’m honestly not usually a fan of live music of any kind, BUT I couldn’t be more excited about this one
Oh nice, enjoy!
Glad you’re feeling better!
Thank you!
I’m wearing Andrea Maack Coven, which has been getting more evening wear, but I’ve decidrd it’s not too strange for work. Love it!
And a PSA for NYCers: Maria McElroy of Aroma M will be at Twisted Lily this evening.
I’m sampling Eau de Neroli Dore, which is lovely but seems very faint. I say “seems” because I also had a similar experience with Dilettante yesterday. Could just be my sniffer …
Taking a break from my Verbena Week because Philosykos demanded an outing. Who am I to say no?
I would never say no to Philosykos.
You smell simply amazing.
You smell great!
Enough people have raved about this that I really must try it. What makes Philosykos so compelling?
Wearing L’Artisan Thé pour un Été today. It’s light and refreshing and I feel very comfortable wearing it to work which is a plus!
Love this one!
Wearing Atelier Mistral Patchouli. Thunderstorms kept me awake all night and today the sky is still brooding dark and humid. This smells dry to me and dry is good.
You smell good!
You smell so lovely!
Wearing copious amounts of Beige today as an early celebration of the weekend.
I took Friday and Monday off work, but just got the call that I have 7 cord of firewood arriving that needs to be moved and stacked and tossed into the basement and then stacked again.
UGH
I hope it’s not stifling hot for you and your firewood!
You smell wonderful!
For some reason I’ve been wearing mostly roses this summer (except for last week which was citrus). SOTD is AG Rose Splendide.
Phrase of the day = Vive la République!
Scents of the day = Chanel No. 5 and No. 22, hugely floral.
Number of the day = 24601, Hugo-ly Victor-ious
Archival blog post of the day = http://boisdejasmin.com/2015/01/top-selling-fragrances-in-france-2014.html
Movie of the day = Amélie
Song of the day = J’ai Deux Amours (Madeleine Peyroux)
Mood of the day = sympathique
I read somewhere (maybe in The Widow Cliquot?) that during the Revolution when heads were rolling left, right and centre, that it was fashionable for women to bob their hair and wear red ribbons around their neck. I admire their sass, but I was also surprised that bobbed hair was an 18thC fashion.
Sampled Olfactive Studios Selfie this morn but it’s too sweet for me and I was happy to shower it off.
Applied Theorema post-shower.
Oh, and Robin, if you ever feel like giving us more Birthday Boy of the Day pics, can I put in a request for Viggo Mortensen on October 20? ???? Thanks!!
Oh, Viggo!???? I’ll second that request.
Added to October…
Yayyy ????
I’m not sure it’s bobbed as we would understand it (1920s style). But short, like the Jane Austen portrait. Google images for “les incroyables’ and ‘les merveilleuses’ to see the sort of proto-punk get-up the young men/ women of the revolution years affected (somewhat to the annoyance of the ‘serious’ revolutionaries, I believe.)
Ok, so I was intrigued because I read it as ‘cutting’ their hair short but really she meant ‘wearing’ their hair short. Im totally familiar with the history of fashion- a lifetime obsession really. But most of what I know is the history of English fashion so I presumed when I read that that the French were doing something drastic. But, no, not so much…
Kelly Caleche. I wanted to smell amazing at the oil change place.
Mission accomplished!
Agreed!
Sweet Morphine FTW!
Now that I’ve tried the full Ex Nihilo range, I can definitively say that Sweet Morphine is my favorite!
I bought the set w/ SM, Fleur Narcotique and Love Shot.
Fleur Narcotique has a lot of lychee (to my nose) so I think any lychee lovers would be thrilled but I wasn’t that thrilled w/ it…will have to wear it again and see.
Love Shot I liked but it was a little skanky/animalic to me…and I typically don’t mind a bit of skank.
What did you think of the others please?
There are so many niche houses churning out so much stuff…it’s hard to keep up…but Sweet Morphine seems to get the most talk on NST…
I’m trying out Oud Palao from a sample that came with a purchase. There’s a kind of scratchy note that I get in a lot of oud (or “oud”) perfumes, and it’s here too, but in general I’m enjoying this one.
Paying attention to it might help me handle a minor disaster with the bridesmaid dress I’m meant to wear in a few weeks.
Oh no – what kind of disaster? Gigantic butt bow?
No, no, the dress is actually pretty and a flattering color. But I’ve been sent the wrong one – someone else in the bridal party has my dress. I’m having a devil of a time finding out where the best place to mail it is (can’t get my friend to respond to a direct question), and I’m not looking forward to calling the shop again and convincing them to refund the shipping charges. I’m pretty good at being imperious, but it really is just a bluff – if they call it all I can do is leave them bad reviews on Yelp and lodge a BBB complaint.
Sorry to hear that! I hoped it gets resolved as quickly and painlessly as possible.
(I was hoping for the giant bow, however.)
The butt bow would have been a much funnier story, I agree!
Urgh, sorry you have to deal with that. Good luck!
Thanks! I sent the dress to its rightful wearer via USPS and they shop cheerfully refunded the first shipping charge, so I’ve actually saved money, if not time and provocation.
Wasn’t thinking about Bastille day when I put on my fragrance this morning, but it happened to be French (kinda) – L’Occitane Eau Spontanee. It’s a simple fresh n fruity cologne I got for half price.
Hey, that’s French!
Well, I have been enjoying Bastille Day, spent on a long walk through Paris. Debating whether to go watch the fireworks at the Eiffel Tower later.
SOTD is “Entre Ciel et Mer” from Pierre Guillaume Collection Croisière. Top: green leaves, water notes.
Mid: Lavender, pear, thyme, ambergris, lichen.
Base: cedarmoss (huh?), sandalwood.
It’s fresh and unusual, but ultimately doesn’t work hard enough for its living.
Ooh, that sounds like such an interesting scent. Definitely going on my “to sample” list.
If you are minded to try them out, PG has excellent sample packs, one for the ‘Parfumerie Générale’ brand scents and another for ‘Pierre Guillaume’ and ‘Huitième Art’ together.
SOTD is Ikat Jasmine from Aerin Lauder. Hope everyone is having a spectacular week!????
It could be worse 😉
Commando for now, as I head to the airport this afternoon. Since I depart from the Intl Terminal, I expect to drop in to Duty Free and play a little. Will spray something flight appropriate and French then.
Amazing stage at Tour today….good grief, what a mess… I turn it on when I get up because I know my husband in NYC is paying rapt attention.
Yes, it was downright bananas at the end of Le Tour today!
Hope you have/had a good perfume outing at Duty Free.
SOTD = Acqua di Parma Blu Mediterraneo Fico di Amalfi (whew that’s a mouthful!)
PSA – Nordstrom (no affiliation) Anniversary Sale has some really cute Hermes minis on sale! $50 for all of the following:
– Jour d’Hermès Absolu Eau de Parfum (0.25 oz.)
– Eau des Merveilles Eau de Toilette Natural Spray (0.25 oz.)
– Voyages d’Hermès Eau de Toilette (0.25 oz.)
– Un Jardin sur le Nil Eau de Toilette (0.25 oz.)
🙁 Sold out!
Too bad, that’s a nice set!
Trying Eau Suave by PdE for the first time. I really like this house. Eau Suave is really pretty but I had to top off at noon. It doesn’t last very long even on clothing. Still one of the better summer rose scents out there for warmer weather IMO.
I find Eau Suave a little deceptive in that it seems like it’s gone but then I can smell it on clothes days later. Doesn’t stop me from giving myself a little extra hit during the day though.
Trying Brecourt Farah today. I’m pretty sure I tried it before but have no memory of doing so. It’s got quite a lot of clean-ish musk, but in a good way. Right now, it’s reminding me of the sweet/creamy/spicy scent of crape myrtle blooms. Nice and not at all heavy for a so-called oriental. I’ve read the Fragrantica reviews and wondered if I’m smelling the same thing as the other reviewers. Rich, super-sweet, and gourmand is not happening on my skin today.
SOTD is La Chasse aux Papillons Extrême. Unfortunately, I can’t really smell it, as my allergies are beating me about the head. But, it’s better than yesterday, when my SOTD was Purell 🙂 .
Ugh, allergies in July! That’s not fair.
This year has been weird for allergies. Everything’s blooming out of turn.
Bastille Day! The occasion calls for a non-aristocratic perfume (brand), no? (Unless one wants a date with la guillotine, that is ????) So, I’ve avoided Chanel and Guerlain and gone with the most Madame Defarge-y scent I could: Cabochard.
🙂
I like your thinking!
Today it’s been pouring rain all day here where I live. Despite having a big umbrella I returned home from work completely soaked. I swear the rain was falling horizontally!
In the morning I sprayed some Iris by Le Galion. Then I also found a sample of Fan Your Flames by Nishane which inspired me to write a review. Well, it’s been a good day anyway.
Today I’m testing La Cautiva by Fueguia 1833. It’s making me a bit crazy ’cause I can’t decide whether I love it or hate it……
I liked it at first sniff because it was just so darned cheerful, but then it just wouldn’t stop: it was really monotonous. I like a few of their line but that one is just a bare sketch, a fraction of a complete scent.
Have you tried their Xocoatl? It’s a dry herbal chocolate-patchouli scent which I think might be the best of their line (the ones that I’ve tried, anyway): I like it a lot better than Serge Lutens Borneo 1834, which I absolutely cannot wear.
Today I’m wearing Hermes Eau de Gentiane Blanche. Just a few dabs because my sinuses are driving me crazy today!! Yuck 🙁
28 La Pausa today.
Lovely!!!
I really love the fact that I get to wake up to NST and read it while drinking coffee in bed. Such a great start to my day…like a little gift each morning. There is a storm raging outside . I can hear the wind and rain lashing the windows. I’m thinking about what to wear to my husband’s work dinner tonight…university/ immunologists and microbiologists and students. Thinking leopard skin and Bernard Wilhelm camper shoes with weird green angry monsters on them . Anticipating a lively converation about B cells vs. Dendritic cells…all good material for a story. Perfume??? Help!!!! Devil on left shoulder is whispering Poison Girl ( hee hee). Angel on right shoulder is saying pleading Chanel. I have a terrible feeling I could end up wearing both at once…the toad is in the house! ( wind in the willows)
If you wear the shoes, (which I would love to see !) than Poison is the way to go, but a nice subtle iris scent might be more in keeping with the expected excitement level of the evening ??
“There was panic in the parlours and howling in the halls,
There was crying in the cow-sheds and shrieking in the stalls,
When the Toad- came- home!”
If you go with Poison Girl and the leopard skin, with or without the shoes, your outfit will have the absolute merit of being anti-soporific for the people not riveted by immunology. They will be so grateful they will flock to you and you can all have a competition to compose rude limericks or Little Willy verses or something. It will earn you the reputation of being incurably frivolous, but no more than the shoes will.
The really good thing is that quite a few students come from Yemen and Iran and in the past I have had great conversations about scent…and roses.
I often have to go to chemistry professor parties (as the spouse, not the professor). The most interesting conversation I have had at one of these parties was with a visiting speaker from Germany who recognized my Escentric 02 – his wife was a big fan of modern perfumes. If I was to choose, I would wear your crazy shoes and choose a perfume with an provocative name, just to start conversations. Perhaps “Good Girl Gone Bad”?
Voulez-vous Couchez Avec Moi could start something more than conversation…
I’m absolutely rooting for Poison, but considering your dinner buddies I have to accede that Chanel is probably a safer bet. Some things to consider:
1) Could your fragrance impact your husband negatively?
2) Will your fragrance be off-putting with the food?
If the answer to either is “yes” then I advocate Chanel, followed by Poison on your way home. 😉
Love the outfit description (especially the shoes!)
The food will be terrible ….like potato salad and an old ham plonked on a buffet table, follwed by Pav and fruit salad. Macroni and bean salad for vegetarians.
I imagine that perfume will be pretty far down the list of my husband’s problems .
I would love to see those shoes!
They are ankle snaeakers with grey toes, weird zig zag wedges, and then green angry starfish…they are called Himalaya boots, I think.
Question: you know how everyone checks their phone during dinner these days….well, is it okay if I take a book to read ( as a phone substitute ). Also, can I place it on the table next to my plate…just to keep it handy? I’m thinking poetry.
I just had to google those shoes — awesome! Pretty sure that leopard skin + green monsters + Poison + poetry would cause the cosmos to explode…
SOTD Iris de Nuit – English in France at least. I love this one in summer and all year round.
That’s the Heeley, isn’t it? I love that one, and wouldn’t mind a bottle at all!
SOTD = Aroma M Hanoki Vanilla. It’s my fourth time wearing the small decant I got, and I just don’t like it. I try because I really like a lot of the other brand’s frags, but this one is just strange and not in a good way. I get steamy lavender with a hint of algae and some vague sweetness at the base. Not my cup of tea. 🙁
Was wondering about this one. Lavender & algae – eeek!
I tried the Vanilla Hinoki EdP and I got a boiled carrot note out of it of the jarred baby food variety. I have no idea if that might be the hinoki note, but others have recommended trying the perfume oil instead. Considering I didn’t like the EdP, it’s doubtful I’ll ever pursue sniffing the oil.
I told my Japanese-Canadian husband that this one was Japan inspired. He sniffed and said mildly, “Perfume may not be the strong suit of my people.”
🙂 Your quote inspired a snort of laughter so loud that the cats are all glaring at me right now. Perhaps I should compile a list of the humorous, witty, and horrified comments made by our loved ones. It would make for great reading to brighten up a bad day.
😀
Vive la différence! Every nose is different.
For me Vanilla Hinoki is delightfully strange, and I love, love, love it. It did take me several tries to get there though. I agree the first sniff might feel a bit odd, but after a minute there is something hypnotic in the mix of citrus, lavender, and hinoki. The vanilla drydown with the woody note reminds me of tic-tac freshmints (the white ones) in a delicious and soothing way. I had to buy a bottle and have been wearing it steadily since.
The perfume oil and the eau de parfum do smell different to my nose. They are fraternal twins, not identical. I like them both, and they are especially nice worn together.
Hi, all Friday….am I anticipating a happy weekend lounging round or achieving energetic things with the dear one? No. I am not. I am chairing a hearing for the most infuriating and depressing aspect of my job: academic dishonesty. The short, ugly, everyday word is cheating….why, why, why, do students do it? I see the pressure, fear of failing, desperation arising from procrastination…I understand all that, but only in my head. In my heart, I’m just angry and despairing. I’d have more respect, too, if they just said ” Yes, it’s a fair cop. We did it, and we’ll take the consequences of our decision.” But the reasons (excuses) are so feeble as to be embarrassing. Grrrr. No, GRRRRRRRRRR!!! I’m wearing Black Cashmere, hoping its warm spicy woodiness will remind me to listen hard and be humane. I don’t actually HAVE to be a hanging judge, after all.
Ugh, that sounds horrible. I hope it’s not too discouraging for you.
My sympathies. My husband is a college professor and dealing with student cheating seems to be what he most dislikes as well, especially when aggressive parents become involved and threaten to sue, etc. I hope the Black Cashmere is soothing!
🙁 Oh noes! As an undergrad we got that talk as well, though the circumstances were gray rather than black and white (professor got lazy and copied a question from a previous test just changed the numbers…even though his tests are open book and notes so reference to previous tests is allowed).
Sorry you have to deal with that instead of taking the time for yourself. Hopefully the students take this to heart, don’t do it again, and you keep enjoying good smells.
Ugh. Not a great way to spend time on the w/e. FWIW, though, don’t hesitate to be a hanging judge if it’s warranted! I’ve seen in the recent decade or so how cheating is less the result of pressure and more the result of an increase in an astonishing and appalling sense of entitlement among students.
…Anyway, hope your perfume helps you through!
Wearing one of my personal top summer 2016 scents today: Clinique’s version of Calyx. I should pull out the Prescriptives version, too… it has totally hit the spot for me this year.
Nice pick for best of the year!
I’m wearing Tokyo Milk French Kiss today. It had gotten hidden behind other things on my shelf so, in an effort to actually wear the things that might not be right directly in front of my face, I went with this. It’s working for me. It’s got a little bitter note in it that I like. I remember smelling Cacharel Eden on a strip at a discounter where I found it a few months ago, and I remember thinking it smelled like this, but I haven’t done a comparison to see if I’m right about that.
Celebrating Bastille Day with Hermes Eau des Merveilles. I was going to wear it for tomorrow’s Top Ten but I couldn’t resist celebrating all things French on a glorious summer day! Our local Taste is here for the weekend – just two bliocks away – so it will be food and drink and music all weekend for me. Think I’ll see what our local bistro is offering there to pair with a crisp glass of Sauvignon Blanc . . .
Wearing Chanel Bel Respiro in honor of Bastille Day (also because it’s hot – so, so hot).
I could reach into my perfume cabinet blindfolded and be almost certain to pull out something French (as I discovered 10 days ago when I sought to find an American fragrance). Cristalle was a contender for today’s honor, but Eau des Merveilles won out.
Inspired by hannahmom’s post yesterday, I decided to wear Aromatics Elixir on what I think is our hottest, muggiest day of the year so far. I’ve loved it! (It helps that my office is usually the temperature of a meat locker.)
Isn’t it wonderful and refreshing on stupid hot days??
I stole the idea, I just cannot remember from who, so I cannot credit them.
You smell amazing.
SOTD was White Rose and Lemon Leaves by Jo Loves. I’m really trying to find one of her new scents that I can just totally love, but I’m having a bit of a hard time. This one is nice, you get the rose, it’s there and lemon/citris is surely right there as well – almost side by side it seems. Maybe a more skilled nose (Robin, Angela, Kevin) or pretty much any of you on here could be more adept at identifying if this is just a bit on the dry side. I surely don’t get sweet from it, but that could be just me. I’m trying to love it, but I just don’t – yet. I do like it though, and will try a few more times with it.
Ug – citrus – sorry!
