JoAnne Bassett Esoterica ~ new fragrance

JoAnne Bassett Esoterica

California-based indie brand JoAnne Bassett Perfumes has launched Esoterica, a new limited edition natural fragrance.

An exquisite, hand blown glass perfume bottle with the colors of a sunset over the ocean, houses this enchanting complex perfume. The Esoterica parfum bottle has ribbons of color running down the sides. This parfum bottle has similar colors as the Reflections parfum bottle and are beautiful when displayed as a set.

Fabulous Bulgarian damask rose otto, expensive and rare Bulgarian alba (white) rose otto, sensual jasmine sambac, exotic and costly neroli (orange blossoms), vanilla absolute, bergamot, patchouli, sandalwood, and many other citrus and floral notes in an organic jojoba oil base.

JoAnne Bassett Esoterica is available in 15 ml Parfum, $350.

Bottle Tart lemming screaming at me!

Does it have a fragrance? Do I care?

That is a gorgeous bottle! Perfume doesn’t sound bad either, but it would have a hard time competing with its bottle.

It IS a pretty bottle. The notes seem nice enough, although “exotic and costly neroli” seems a bit over the top. But $350 for k15 ml? Really? Won’t be sampling this one, prole that I am. :-)

I won’t be buying it either at that price, but I do think the price is somewhat understandable in this case. Natural perfumes are expensive, and the bottle undoubtedly adds quite a bit to the price as well. I don’t care for artificially inflated prices such as one sees with sometimes, where the price seems to be for the express purpose of making the fragrance “exclusive”–by ensuring that the “riffraff” won’t be able to afford it. In this case, though, I would expect that the price does bear some relation to the actual cost of the ingredients.

Or to the cost of the bottle!

I’ve been struck by a bad case of bottle lust. Ooooo, that’s so pretty!

The perfume doesn’t sound like something I would like to smell… And that bottle is indeed gorgeous but it’s like an exact copy of Tammy Frazer’s perfume bottles, of which I ordered one some weeks ago. Much cheaper, more extrait de parfum and I LOVE the notes of it :)
