Keira Knightley for Chanel’s Coco Mademoiselle, part 3

Keira Knightley advert for Chanel Coco MademoiselleActress Keira Knightley in her latest ad for Chanel’s Coco Mademoiselle fragrance. You can see the prior ad, from 2007, here. Back in 2007 there were rumors that Knightley had been “digitally enhanced”; you can check out the 2009 conversation at Basenotes.

I like this ad better, but I like the 2007 one too

I agree. She looked nice in the previous ads but she looks much more “Chanel” in this. Might help that she looks a bit more mature, too. I understand Chanel wants to emphasize youth in their advertising, but I think sometimes they forsake the sophistication I used to associate with the brand.

Agree with both of you — much better than the last one.

She’s got the classic Chanel smoky eye, and is markedly older than the run-of-the-mill Chanel models. Dunno about the Photoshop, I don’t follow her weight issues. I do wish Chanel would begin to represent their strongest US customer – the woman over 30 with disposable income and a hankering to own *something* Chanel, even if it’s just an EDP or a lip gloss.

Anyone who saw her in “Atonement” can pretty much tell this is some serious airbrushing. She is a lovely representative for Coco, though.

Very serious airbrushing…for one thing, her very prominent ribs aren’t there. But it’s a pretty ad.

I like this ad better, with the black-and-white focus; I think it’s very representative of the Chanel brand.

I admit to being a Keira fan and admire both her looks and her talent. My sister wears only Coco Mdlle and is also a KK fan, partly because of what she (my sister) sees as their shared struggles with weight. We had a long conversation last year about Keira’s open comments that stylists often pad her bodice for films or photo shoots, or that her photos are digitally enhanced at the request of publicists, because she “hasn’t got much up top” (if I remember correctly, those were Keira’s words – somebody correct me if I’m wrong).

One might wish that Chanel’s ads would be more stylish and less overtly sexy. Even if Marketing 101 says Sex Sells Perfume. Even if it obviously works. I’m just wishin’ here; I don’t expect the advertising world to change just to suit me!

My daughter and I are Keira fans as well. I remember those comments as well. From all I’ve seen, she has a very good attitude about herself. I don’t much care if someone is skinny or curvey as long as they are happy with what they are. When celebrities have their bodies augmented…well, it’s their decision so they should do what they want, but I can’t help but lose respect for them.

I can’t explain why, but it bothers me more that they removed her ribs than that they augmented her breasts.

is there a nonretouched version of the ad floating around?

Bravo published a picture of Bill from Tokio Hotel’s torso tattoo and they shaved a few inches off his rib cage, gave him a new arm pit, and they gave his skin a pinkish glow (which included making his nipple *pink*). It was kind of creepy 2bh. It wasn’t even for a photoshoot or an ad, it was a photo the tattoo artist took for their portfolio. Bravo is a teeniebopper magazine btw.

that’s bizarre! I guess the photographer might have been having an “artsy moment” but really, do you think Bill’s fans want to see him with a pink nipple?? too weird.

this is the original, they took out his lil stretch marks too

and the “W” on his arm, which I don’t think is there anymore?

The photographer didn’t edit the picture, someone at Bravo did.
Most fans were too busy crying over the fact that he obviously lost his mind and is destroying his body and asking hooowww he could do that to the fans to notice how pink or not pink his nipple is. (the TH fandom is extremely whiny, you can’t even imagine)
&&&& ps, I know some people probably h8 Bill and think his tattoo is fug, that isn’t my point right now. My point is photoshoppers get carried away sometimes!!!!!

    Actress? Really?

  5. Posted on 29 June 2009

Has noone noticed the two-toned hair or the very brownish makeup for her complexion? (I guess the pic is small here)
It’s a better ad than the first IMO, more Chanel, but there is something overdone to her face.

I was gonna say, “What did they enhance?!” It must just be airbrushing. She isn’t very well endowed, unless she’s very flat chested. I love Keira Knightley though.

They’ve generally made her body look softer & curvier than it is. No big deal, and she does look great!

She is neraly ten years younger then me and looks really really old and hungry for her age. Not on the add, though. She looks pretty old and this “suck on my finger” sexiness is tacky imho.

Talking about ads and normal-weight models: For the Si Lolita press stuff there is a really nice normal weight model with flesh.

Wow, she does not look old to me at all!
