Bond no. 9 West Side and Kenneth Cole RSVP ~ new fragrances

Bond no. 9 West Side fragranceWest Side, the latest perfume for women from Bond no. 9, will launch on November 1. The inspiration? The musical heritage of the West Side of New York City, “home to Carnegie Hall, Tin Pan Alley, the Cotton Club, the Copacobana, Birdland, Lincoln Center, Studio 54, and S.O.B.’s”. West Side was created by perfumer Michel Almairac of Robertet, and features rose, ylang ylang, peony, sandalwood, amber, musk and vanilla. (via Bond no. 9)

Update: see a review of Bond no. 9 West Side.

Kenneth Cole RSVP fragrance for menAlso coming in early November, RSVP, a fragrance for men from Kenneth Cole:

The fragrance, concocted by Frank Voelkl of Firmenich, has top notes of lavender, grapefruit, pepper and wet grass; a heart of iris, orchid and cedarwood, and a drydown of sandalwood, patchouli, vetiver and soft cashmere.

RSVP will be fronted by rock star Bon Jovi, who is also designing a collection of jackets for the Kenneth Cole label. RSVP will be exclusive to Saks and Kenneth Cole boutiques before expanding into wider distribution next year. (via Women's Wear Daily) Kenneth Cole RSVP is available in 50 and 100 ml Eau de Toilette and in Aftershave Splash.

I do love many of Bond's fragrances, but what continues to floor me is the beauty of their bottles. The more recent ones (Chinatown, Bleecker St., Scent of Peace, Fire Island and the new West Side) are absolutely stunning in my opinion.

The bottles are really lovely…at this point, I don't know how they'll ever do a plain glass one again — it would be a great disappointment after all the wonderful designs they've done recently.

The bottle is stunning. Unfortunately the juice was very disappointing. I tested it a week ago at Saks and could barely smell anything. It seems to be one of those musk scents that some people can't smell – I must be one of them. I can't decide if I want it just for the bottle or not. I had really hoped the juice would be worthwhile.

Hoping to try it soon, so we'll see if I can smell it. I don't usually have a problem with musks. Glad to hear the bottle is just as nice in person!

Thanks for the info, R! West Side is possibly the perfect rose-vanilla that seems to have eluded perfumers up until now. Rose lovers are going to swoon! The musk is undetectable on my skin. I have a feeling this latest Bond will be as big a hit as Chinatown was. I am thrilled that Almirac continues to make perfumes for Bond, he really understands the line.

Hey P, glad to hear they have pleased their no. 1 fan! Any comparison with Lancome's Mille et une Rose?

No comparison, R. To use the musical comparison, Mille would be a full blown opera, staged at the Met. West Side would be the Iridium with Les Paul at the guitar.

Mille is heavier and louder to me, and the peppery attitude gives a spice to that perfume that West Side does not have. West Side is softer, more balanced, and much more sophisticated.

Late reply P, but thanks for the comparison. More sophisticated than Mille et Une is quite a commendation…must try West Side!

Patti has had me in a frenzy over this scent!!! ;-) I am new to this line, but I agree… I would wonder if the line could ever do a plain glass bottle again…

M, it does sound lovely! Still like the Chinatown & Bleecker bottles the best, but this one is nice too. Plain glass would be awfully dull after the last 5-6 they've done :-)

    Hi R!

I am very late to this post.

It is a stunning rose and worth testing.

    It is swoonworthy.

There is more there in comparison to 2000 et une Rose.

Now…you know that I adore 2000 et une Rose but this one…might have turned my head.

Thanks A, if 2 2000 et un Rose lovers say its even better, then it must be!

Fell in love with the rose and vanilla combination. This is a very sultry scent by Bond. The peony and ylang ylang top notes make me want to sing. Love this scent and the bottle is very fun and creative.

how does the kenneth cole rsvp smell? i smelt it on a card and i just smelt strong, but when i smelt it in a book, it smelt nicer. does anyone have a personal (skin) experience with it? i'm kind of skeptical about buying it but i've been skeptical of some of my favorites as well :)

I'm afraid I haven't done more than try it on a card either. There just isn't time anymore to keep up with all the new releases!
