If EVER a scent needed intensifying it's L'eau Rare Metale! As it stands, it does not last even five minutes on my skin… I love its smoky note too. But I'll take solace in the arrival of Idole on these shores. I can now stop badgering boutique owners in Paris to throw caution (and law) to the winds and ship me a bottle. K

Sigh. More sequels. Honestly, this is my personal most hated trend that seems to be happening. I don't necessarily mind it once in a while, as certain scents almost require a sequel (like the L'Artisan extremes) but good lord, not everything needs one. Or for that matter, in the case of the CK stuff, they don't need multiple ones. They're just watering down the brand, really. I'm probably just being excessively cranky today, maybe it's not quite so bad as I think.

I'm with you katiedid: ENOUGH ALREADY! It's really laughable isn't it: CKOne-Deux-Trois, CalvinKlein Eternity Early Autumn Clam Bake, Obsession Extreme Psychosis/The Hamptons…et cetera. (Who cares about Calvin Klein “perfume” anyway????) Can you tell the 27 days of RAIN in Seattle have ruined my usually calm and compassionate nature??????? Kevin

Hee hee hee. I'm in Portland, and I know exactly how you feel. The creek right behind my house is all swollen, and the earth has been so marshy that no one can walk in it without their shoes sticking in it.

I do like some of the CK scents though – and despite CK One's utter ubiquity and EXTREME overuse, I still am rather fond of it. And I still think Truth is one of the more interesting things the company has put out in a long while (though admittedly, that one came out years ago, too.)

HA! Yes, the very ground in Seattle is becoming quicksand…a great name for a perfume, no? “…notes of damp earth, roots, daffodil bulb, frozen clay, shoe leather…” K

Robin, thank you for the info. I received some samples from Parfumerie Generale today, I'm very pleased with their size! I ordered two samples – Coze and L'eau Rare Metale and they threw in another for free, Private Incense. They're pretty little bottles too. Haven't tried the scents yet – tomorrow!

I also received my order from Aedes de Venustas (got the Serge Lutens Bois de Vanille) and am very happy about all the samples they included. I found the Aedes website through this blog and am thrilled. Thank you!!!!

K, I do much better than 5 minutes, but I spray an awful lot on, which is unusual for me since 1 spray is usually my limit. A concentrated version is very good news, as is the Idole!

Please, come back & comment when you try the incense — I am very curious about that one! And Aedes is a treasure. Enjoy your BdV!

I absolutely will enjoy my BcV, thank you! I'll wear the incense tomorrow to work and report back in, let you know what I think. Since I work close to people, I'll let you know if anyone comments on it, that's always fun.

Is that the one by Les Nereides? Have only tried the Musc de Java.

It is! It's really lovely – I got a sample from Lucky Scent, then bought the bottle. It's got great lasting power and is fairly inexpensive. It's got sweetness without the foody-ness…love it.

Well, I wore the Private Incense today. I wasn't bowled over in a have to have it kind of way, but I do think it's very nice and I'd wear it again. I think I will try it again tomorrow for a second impression.

Thanks! Wonder if it is a “preview” of the oriental coming later this year…

Today I wore “Coze” from the line, and I love it. It's the one that was recommended to me from the form on the website. It's so much more interesting than the Private Incense, and the staying power is great.

I have a feeling Coze will turn out to be one of the most popular from the line…glad you love it!

the eternity summer, I wonder if it's going to be the same wonderful scent they released last summer…

That seemed to be very fresh and popular. I liked the nice change, and the original I cannot wear.

I was under the impression that they tweaked the summer versions every year, but I'm not positive!
