2005 FiFi Award finalists

This year's Fifi award finalists have been announced by The Fragrance Foundation. The Fragrance Foundation describes the Fifis as the “Oscars of the fragrance industry”, and that seems apt; like the Oscars, the Fifis tend to reward the blockbusters and to ignore the truly innovative or creative work in the field. But enough of my cynicism, here are the nominees in the major women's categories:

NOUVEAU NICHE

Burberry Brit Red
YSL Cinema
CK One Summer
Bond No. 9 Eau de New York
Jil Sander Pure
Just Cavalli Her
Love in Paris by Nina Ricci
MaxMara
Montblanc Femme Individuelle
Moschino Couture!
Shanghai

LUXE

Kenneth Cole Black
Marc Jacobs Blush
Britney Spears Curious
DKNY Be Delicious
Escada Rockin’ Rio
Eternity Moment
Lacoste Touch of Pink
Prada Fragrance
Dior Pure Poison
Ralph Cool
Liz Claiborne Realities

Each category is narrowed to 5 finalists before the award ceremony takes place on April 7. 2004 winners include Burberry Brit and Narciso Rodriguez for women.

The competition is so weak. I guess Prada will win. I personally like Kenneth Cole's Black. It really is a lovely floral. Surprising quality and poor choice of a name. I guess we should be grateful that Curious and Paris Hilton did not get nominated.

Hey A, read again — Curious is listed under luxe of all things, and so is Rockin Rio. Hate to be catty but Beth and I gave that a smell last weekend and it smells like kool-aid. I hope Prada wins, it is the best in the bunch.

Prada's my choice too. Surely they jest with Curious. That just takes the Fifi's down a few notches in my book!

It will certainly take them down a notch if it wins! It is a big seller though, so it wouldn't be a surprise.

Haha, maybe I should spray myself with kool-aid, I love Rockin' Rio.

If only this scent could be turned into an eau de parfum form..

It isn't likely that they'll bother with heavier concentrations since these are released for such a short time period. What about Escada collection? I think that comes in EdP.
