Monday! Plus, World Voice Day and Wear Your Pajamas to Work Day. What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm in Hermès Myrrhe Églantine, from probably the most saturated brand in my collection. Partial credit? I am indeed still wearing my bathrobe, and I'm going to have another cup of Kenilworth Pekoe before I get back to finishing up my ???? taxes.
Reminder: on 4/20 we're doing Can’t stop, won’t stop...wear a perfume from the most saturated category in your collection. Suggested by Coin-op.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2018, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

I am wearing Diorissimo, from what is probably the *least* saturated category in my collection (pretty spring florals), in defiance of the LITERAL BLIZZARD that spent all of April 14 and 15 snowing on Minneapolis. Guys I pushed my husband’s car out of the driveway this morning in snow up to my knees. My actual knees! April! Etc!
Yikes, it seems the snow just won’t stop coming, snow up to the knees is not sounding like a fun time.
I hope you guys thaw out soon!
Our local news showed footage from the Twin Cities! We didn’t get that much here, just a few inches, but really in April, isn’t anything too much?!
Oof. I miss a lot of things about living in Minneapolis, but dealing with cars and snow is not one of them. I hope it melts quickly!
Ugh!! Hope the Diorissimo is keeping your spirits up because that is a real downer.
My daughter and her husband were stuck in Minneapolis overnight while traveling to Phoenix, the pictures she sent of the airport whiteout were amazing. We are a few states east and were just south of the ice line of that storm, hope it all melts quickly for you!
Fellow Minneapolitan here… last night I had to dig my car out 3 different times on my way home from work. I love this city, but I did NOT love that particular commute.
Oh no!! Hope it goes better today.
Hey twin! Snow up to knees=totally awful. Diorissimo=totally wonderful!
LOLOL @ “Etc!” Way to defy that mofo, Regina! I wish you sunshine and 75 degrees!
Good morning Robin,
Today’s SOTD is TM’s Alien, an odd ducky scent, but I love the jasmine/amber combination in this. It’s been calling to me for a few days now.
I only wish I could stay home in my PJ’s and read! I just started reading The Keeper of Lost Things and am finding it very compelling and enjoyable. A book I can’t put down.
This book sounds wonderful, I’m going to order it from my library, thanks for recommending!
Good morning, and I am off to look at your book!
I just finished Lilac Girls and Rules of Civility, another book I couldn’t put down, although some areas of the book were difficult to get through.
If one likes YA fantasy, The Black Witch by Laurie Forest was really enjoyable, can’t wait for the second book in the series in September 2018.
I think we all need to trek back to bed for tea and PJ time, SmokeyToes was especially cranky I had to leave for work today.
Lovely, thanks! And wish I’d headed back to bed, but at least I have Fed & State taxes done now. Local still to go…
Ha ha, I like the idea of ducky scents. That conjures up some interesting images and associations!
House twins!
Excellent! House twins is a good thing. 😉
I may wear Mugler’s Alien Essence Absolute tomorrow (if I can find the darned decant…)
I’d love to wear my pajamas to work! Even better, I’d like to wear them back to bed????????
SOTD is Bvlgari Omnia (the original) because I’ll be in a room full of people all day (daydreaming about wearing my pajamas back to bed) and would not want to offend anyone, especially the highly offendable. Is that a word? I don’t know. I DO know I need coffee. *toodles off to find coffee*
Sometimes I feel like my scrubs are just as comfy as pajamas. Hope your day goes well!
Well, I’m general I would agree with this, but I’ve recently chunked up a bit, so they’re not quite as comfortable as they once were. I need do something about that..!
Back to bed – yes, me too!
We could be napping twins!
I’m not highly offendable (I don’t think – but maybe I am…) and I do find pajamas in public offensive. I’m rather horrified by the holiday.
Enjoy your coffee!
Coffee was generically satisfying. Nothing special, but did the trick. ☕️
Then don’t even think of visiting Shanghai because you’re u will just twitch all day long and that is no fun!
http://www.ferretingoutthefun.com/2013/10/04/snapshot-pajamas/
I’m glad to see I’m not the only one who waited until the last minute to do their taxes, lol. Today will be my prep day where I sort through stacks of papers and receipts that have been put aside for “later.” Well, later has arrived. I got a new shredder from amazon. There is something so satisfying about running pieces of paper through that thing. I will go with my favorite comfort scent: Lea.
I got a lovely comment from a co-worker yesterday. I caved last week and bought a bottle of Fleur de Peau after finding a deal on eBay that was too good to pass up. It was my SotW and about ten and half hours into my 12 hour shift yesterday my coworker said, “You smell good. I’ve been getting little whiffs of something good all day-and it’s you! Is that perfume?” It made my day.☺️ I think I have found my perfect skin scent!
Ooh I love a perfume compliment, I bet u smell lovely, who’s it by?
It’s one of the new Diptyque’s. I would definitely recommend it for someone looking for subtle and non-offensive. Yes, I love a perfume compliment too!
Thanks, will have to sniff soon.
Fantastic! I really like Fleur de peau too.
I did my taxes on April 6, and we got our federal return on April 13. I was shocked.
Wow, that’s awesome! They seem to get faster every year with the returns. I don’t know why I always wait to do our taxes (well, yes I do, it’s because I am a horrible procrastinator) because we get a return every year too.
Wow, that has to be a record.
I finished mine a couple of weeks ago; for some reason, I avoided doing them this year, not my usual M.O.
Hey last-minute-tax twin!!
Freezing rain here, woke up to icicles everywhere. I am still in my pajamas and have no intention of leaving the house. Hunkered down in my favourite category, orientals: FM Dries van Noten today.
Orientals are my favorite category too. Hunker down and stay warm!
You smell great. Stay cozy!
I will probably stay in all day too, but icicles — yuck. You do smell perfect!
Freezing rain is the pits! Yuck!
Nuit de tuberose today, such an oddity, but I do really like it. Goes well with my latest charity shop bargain-liberty print vintage shirt dress for £7!! the perfume matches the pink hydrangea type flowers in the print.
Great buy, congrats!
Thanks!
Don’t you love when the thrift store has a fab find!! You look and smell lovely.
Yes! such a thrill!
You smell great, love NdT.
i love liberty prints! i think my favorite is strawberry thief 🙂
I adore thrift-shop finds, I found the cutest vintage Balmain dress (circa 1970’s) a few years back that was so cute and in my size *happy dance*.
The last vinty find for a perfume was vintage Safari for men, my hubby adores it and I love the bottle.
I found a genuine Waterford crystal clock at the Salvation Army store one time for $5. It cost more to buy a battery for it than to buy the clock itself!
A ridiculously generous NSTer sent me a travel spray of that one, and I love it. Hmmm… that may be my SOTE.
Chanel Bois des Iles from my most saturated brand. Pretty and cozy enough for a super rainy, windy day. I am grateful my field visit was canceled for lack of office cars today. Stay dry and warm everyone.
Hoping to pick up a bottle of the extrait of this one at duty free in a few days 🙂 you smell great!
Do it! The extrait is a beauty!
Possibly dumb question – how do people typically categorize their collections? I roughly categorize by season and note, but the key word there is “roughly” 🙂
Oops this comment was supposed to go at the bottom, and what I meant to say here was, “OMG I am so excited for your purchase Koyel!!”
Definitely not a dumb question. 🙂
I like to categorize by season, as I live in a place that has distinct changes and what works for January will typically NOT work* for July. I have a cardboard hatbox on my dresser that holds what I call the “current rotation” of perfumes, and everything else is stashed in boxes in the bedside cabinet. It is always delightful to me to change the lineup as the weather changes.
* There are always exceptions. And I have one box of “season-spanning” fragrances, too.
I use Fragrantica’s classification by groups, even though I do not always agree with it. But it is fairly accurate and helps to break my collection into categories.
Yay for lack of office cars!
A relief, especially in a day like today where I should be wearing my pajamas here or at home!
Glad you didn’t have to be outside this morning. It was pouring buckets!
I was lucky!
Hey Twin! Nice to read your comments. Of course, you smell beautiful today!
Hi twin! Thank you! We smell wonderful!
You smell lovely. Hope you have a calm, cozy day!
Thank you! A quiet, peaceful day so far!
Happy to hear that you weren’t out in the nasty weather today!
At least, the commute back was good. It was sunny and warm!
SOTD is AG Heure Exquise.
My two most saturated categories are orientals and florals, so I plan to wear them this week.
You are smelling so beautiful!. HE is one of my favorite iris perfumes!
You smell wonderful, HE still makes me feel weak at the knees, every time I smell it.
My arms are covered in Guerlain scents from my visit to the Champs-Elysees shop! I got myself a 20-ml Bois d’Armenie, and picked up a 20-ml SDV for a friend (and also tried it out—lovely! But not essential to my life). I had meant to get Cuir Beluga, which I LOVED a couple years ago (when it was roughly infinitely out of my budget), but when I tried it on skin at the shop, it was less enthralling. Hmm.
Also dropped by Annick Goutal to see the new bottles (nice, but I miss the old ones) and try out the scents in pompon-bearing bottles (solid; unnecessary). I kind of want to go to Serge Lutens, but that might be too much sniffing for one day.
Happy Monday, dear friends! Day trip to Brussels tomorrow 🙂
Did you try the new Goutal Bois de Hadrien? I’m curious about that one….also curious if it’s intended to replace Eau d’Hadrien? I thought I had read that someplace.????
Nah; I tried Eau d’Hadrien, but my nose was so tired by then that I didn’t bother with the Bois. I would be surprised if Bois were replacing Eau, just because they took the effort to put the Eau in the new bottles.
According to the bottles, it looked like they meant Eau to be for women and Bois to be for men?
Hmm…okay. I thought I saw bottles of the Bois that came in both the “women” and “men” style. Good lord, why not just have one bottle, I mean, it’s the same scent!
Yep, they did both. I was surprised they continued that practice into the new packaging.
Please report back on Brussels…am planning a trip next year.
Sounds glorious – enjoy the rest of your trip!
Sounds like you are wafting wonderfully today!
You sound / smell like you are enjoying your trip!
Wearing Vero Kern’s Mito EDP as today’s representation of my solid chypre collection. Fragranticia doesn’t list it as a chypre, but that it how it wears on me.
-16 C at 6 AM here – I think I would rather have the bloody snow .
Happy Monday to all. My yearly performance review ( 1st in 7 years) is scheduled for this afternoon, so I am downright antsy.
I hope your review goes well. You smell fabulous.
Best of luck on the review!????
Good luck!
I’ve recently tried the Vero kerns, the ones I’ve tried are amazing!
Do u prefer the edp to the Voile d’extrait, I cant make up my mind.
The EDP, Voile and Parfum are all great, each one tends to emphasize different notes, and therefore, my favourites for each scent are a bit different
It’s only 0C here, but freezing rain since late last night, icicles everywhere. Bon courage for the review!
Good luck with that review!
Fingers crossed that your review went well today, and that you are now home safe & warm!
20 mls???? I didn’t know about those. Could you tell us the price?
(I assume this question is for me? For Guerlain?) They only have them for the Art et la Matière series, and they are 55€ (or 65€ with a leather sleeve). I think they’re only at the Champs-Elysees location?
Yes, for you – thx!
Oops – this was for our woman in Paris, Koyel!
It’s raining, it’s pouring;
Wish that I were snoring!
I went to bed, but didn’t sleep,
Am dragging ’round this morning!
I’m wearing Datura Noir.
Stay warm and dry, friends.
???? Hope the Datura helps the drags!
Thanks; hope you aren’t having to spend the entire work day in damp socks — 🙁
*claps* and sending virtual ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZs…
Loved your little rhyme! ????
I’m wearing Hiris. It counts for this week’s challenge because:
1) It’s from my most represented house (30% of collection)
2) It contains my most represented note (iris)
3) I love it!
Three excellent reasons! You smell lovely!
Wonderful! ????
Perfect. I will be in iris this week for sure.
I was going to try to do a week of Floral Woody Musk scents, because that used to be one of my most represented groups in my collection. It is not quite so large a percentage of my collection now. However, I was going to start with Covet, and the spray cap had come off. So I grabbed one of the bottles from last week’s project and went with Hermes Jour d’Hermes Absolu. Hermes is one house that I collect deliberately, and Jour d’Hermes Absolu is one of my favorites from that house. Also, it represents all of the florals that I have in my collection.
Perfect! I just realized the “category” I have most of is almost certainly Jean-Claude Ellena.
I armored myself for this hectic week with Gucci Guilty absolute pour Homme, my most worn in 2017.
I keep almost picking up a small bottle of this with my ULTA points. You smell great!
Ulta should have a 5x point bonus on fragrance coming up for Mother’s day.
Ooh… Good to know!
I caved on a 50 mL this weekend eventhough I find it too masculine. I thinkmI need to spray more.
Another cold person checking in, wearing my favorite from my favorite category, spicy orientals: vintage Coco. I’m home till noon today, wrapped in a favorite Goodwill find, an enormous fleece bathrobe that is super warm and snuggly. I’d love to curl up with the cat and a book all day but it’s time to get going out into the windy icy world ☹️
Sorry you had to go out — hope it was a great morning!
It was a good day, looked back at my comment and that was pretty dramatic lol.
We are done with the weekend ice, fortunately I didn’t lose power. Snowing a bit today, but the Chief Meteorologist promised me that spring will be here by friday! I organize my perfume by bottle shape and size, so it is a little difficult to know what my most saturated category is. Except for my Muglers, which have their own spot. My most saturated house. Today will be the coldest day this week, so I’m wearing Angel. Lots of sprays, since I’m going to work (HA!) Have a great day everyone!
Theoretically we are supposed to be at 10C and sunshine by Saturday. I will believe it when I see it. Glad to hear you didn’t lose power and are gassing everyone out at work!
Yeah, I will believe it when I see it to. I still have not been able to overpower the lady who wears Light Blue at work. No matter what I wear, all I smell is her, down every aisle.
Like my boss, drenched in Profumum Roma Acqua di Sale all the time. She has gone thru 3 full bottles in a year. She killed my passion for that perfume who was/is one of my summer faves. No matter what you wear, you can never smell your own perfume *sigh*.
Glad to hear that you didn’t lose power this past weekend. You are smelling fantastic today!
Everything’s coming up roses this week, because no matter the house, that is the note that I have the most of in my collection. Not sure what I will wear, because I am still in my PJ’s!!! (but I am working at the computer, while it is rainy and cold outside).
Suggestions?
Papillon Tobacco Rose or Tauer PHI Rose de Kandahar?
Ah, roses. Enjoy whatever you choose.
Rose is my most saturated category and a nice problem to have. I *almost* wore Tobacco Rose as I thought it went well with the rain.
SotD is Dryad, by Papillon
Not sure in what way it fits the theme, but its lovely 🙂
Spring is really here! Sun is shining and temperatures are rising, we are expecting 25 degrees Celcius (77 Fahrenheit) on Thursday!
I really feel more energetic, and I really need the extra energy cause it is busy and hectic at work,
I love all the Papillon scents, You smell great!
Thank you!
Yes I agree, great brand, not one mediocre or bad fragrance in their catalogue.
Diorissimo for this very wet, cold day. My coat got soaked, socks are damp. Ick. My least favorite kind of weather, unless I get to stay home in PJs. Seriously would prefer snow.
But, now I have the answer to yesterday’s poll question. Diorissimo is perfect for a rainy day in April!
I also prefer snow. At least you do not get soaking wet. The commute this morning was awful. Hope you are dry by now. You smell fab!
Thank you! Yes, I really hate being wet. I need to remember to carry extra socks in my bag!
Yuck yuck yuck.
How did the ukulele performance go?
Oh no on the damp socks! 🙁
Good morning Y’all….
Winter continues, and I’m not sure why? LOL Didn’t we send winter away with an equinox?
Well anyhoo, I’m in Guerlain Idylle, so I smell like spring flowers, even if there aren’t any growing just yet! 🙂
I read on the web that due to the melting polar ice caps, the flood of fresh water is slowing down the Gulf stream and causing a delayed spring. Who knew?
Or…. we can go with my theory which is the September/October heat wave made people unhappy and mother nature thought this would be funny ????
Hmm. It does seem like something is going on…
Oh great.
You smell terrific !
Today I am wearing Serge Lutens’ Un Lys. Last week I finished “Into the Water” by Paula Hawkins (who also wrote “The Girl on the Train”).
I liked the Girl on the Train (except for the ending) but disliked Into the Water very much even though I finished reading it.
You smell fantastic Filomena!
Today, I am wearing Vanilla Flash. It’s been a tough weekend. I had to put my 12 year old Lab down due to brain cancer. So I was a mess all weekend. My 6 year old Lab is having a hard time with it too. Yesterday, we put a deposit down on a Lab puppy. We looked at Lab rescues but the hoops we had to jump through and the adoption fees were excessive. I’ve been through 2 adoptions through rescues and don’t recall it being so excessive for a dog.
I’m really sorry Dawn. Hopefully you will get your new puppy soon.
I’m so sorry for your loss. Best wishes for finding the right new pet, when it’s time.
I like rescues, but it’s still considerably cheaper in my area to adopt than to purchase a puppy (and I’m still leery of housetraining, yikes). Also, we didn’t find the right dog for us at any of the breed-specific rescue organizations, when we were looking, but then we just wanted A Dog, mutts acceptable.
So sad to hear about your dog. Hope you find the right puppy soon. Sending hugs.
So sorry Dawn! Big hugs to you.
I am so sorry for your Lab friend. That’s rough.
So sorry for your loss. Hugs!
My deepest condolences and sympathies.
Last time I looked into rescuing it was also a no-go. It would seem to dissuade people from rescuing, which is certainly contrary to the mission. Perplexing.
Oh, that is so sad. I’m very sorry for the hard time and hope your other dog will be able to manage until the new friend/puppy arrives.
So sorry about your darling —
Sorry you had to put your dog down – I don’t even want to think about that for our still young dog, but I know most pet owners have to make that choice one day. Too bad about the rescues, too – we have a lab rescue here that is not difficult at all to adopt from, but we live in a area that was many more rescue dogs that rescuers.
Oh no, more condolences Dawn. And best wishes with your new puppy.
So sorry! How devastating, but here you are, giving another puppy a good home, knowing that one day you’ll have to make another tough decision. I think you’re very courageous! ????
So very sorry to hear that you had to say goodbye to a beloved pet. My deepest sympathies.
I am so sorry for your loss. I hope you find a wonderful puppy to fill the hole left in your heart and home.
So sorry for the loss of your pet dog.
I’m very tired today after not sleeping well and am wearing Cuir de Lancome. It’s been too long since I’ve worn it. It’s such a beauty. A good antidote to rain and cool temps AND Monday.
You smell lovely.
You smell great!
You smell absolutely lovely!~
Thanks! I wish I’d remembered that my coworker is leaving early today. I would have brought my bottle with me so I can refresh.
I have lots.of.samples. This week CP will be aaallllll samples, all the time. Starting out with JM Blackberry & Bay and Lime Basil & Mandarin. I smell fresh and fruity.
Oh, nice way to approach the theme!
After yesterday’s raging winds and pouring rains, it’s partly sunny and dry here, and also quite chilly.
My most saturated category is definitely green florals, and it will be no hardship to enjoy those this week. Wearing Safari today, because the ambery base is warm enough to stand up to the chill.
Jealous of your sunny and dry — we have chilly plus major gloom.
good monday everyone! not wearing anything today, but i sprayed no. 19 poudre on my scarf at duty free so that counts, right?
having trouble coming back to the real world after a lovely weekend in new york. if you have any interest at all in music, film or fashion you should definitely check out david bowie is… i would even go back a second time, even though i live a 3 hour plane flight away! they have a beautiful lightning bolt necklace that i took home as a souvenir; i was thinking about a tattoo, but jewelry is less painful 🙂
Glad you enjoyed your trip! I also saw the exhibit this past Friday and found it totally engaging. Were it not for the crowds and my general lack of endurance, I would have spent more time there.
i was there on friday too! wrt crowds, i can see why the museum also offers a private experience!
Scented scarves absolutely count! And I now really wanna see that exhibit!
you must!
I saw the show here in Toronto when it first began to tour in the fall of 2013. Loved it! I’m a big Bowie fan since the age of 14 back in the mid-70s. I heard that there were additional items added to the exhibit. Lucky you! Now I feel like watching the Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars ’73 documentary… the scenes where he is being made up and dressed in those fantastic costumes – so fun to watch. Then to see him have such a command of the audience while on stage – he was only 26… wow!
i don’t know what all might have been added, aside from the blackstar room, which i had to get through quickly because it’s still too emotional! 🙁
I was wondering if there was an addition to the show such as the room you mentioned. It would most certainly be much more emotional viewing the exhibit now than when I saw it at the beginning of the tour. Back then we didn’t know the end of the ‘story’ so it was a completely different experience – he was still with us, still creating. I’d have had a hard time too as you did!
Like Jepster (above), my collection includes many rose perfumes, so it will be easy for me to wear roses all week. Today it’s MFK Lumiere Noir, which I’ve been wearing a lot this cold spring.
I love that one.
SOTD is Prada Infusion d’Amande. Using one of my quiet moments in the office to decide where to pick up perfume samples on my next NYC daytrip.
You smell divine, just so elegant.
Happy Monday, Guys!
1) It’s my Birthday! And it’s the last year in my 30s! I have
-gone to college and got a BSc and a graduate certificate
-paid off student loans
-worked in film
-lived in Hawaii
-lived in Paris
-lived in LA
-Lived in Seattle
-Currently and happily live in Portland
-bought a house (!!!)
-been arrested twice for protesting
-have a bevy of nieces, nephews, godsons and goddaughters (They are all big teens now, my babies!)
-Have loved deeply, and lost.
I wonder what the next 39 years will bring?
2) SOTD: In a combo of Lush’s Karma Kream and Lust perfume (the solid stick). The pine/orange/inceness of Karma works beautifully with Lust in it’s stick form. I would have worn Fair Verona but it was really chilly and damp this morning, and I wanted a nice mini massage on the limbs before work today.
3) Moved all – yes ALL- of the lumber waste on the dividing line. Mine downed fence is now in the garage, ready for recycling, and I VERY graciously piled the neighbors’ wasted fence in a corner of his yard. I did this in the rain y’all and I want you to know doing bodyweights PAY OFF.
4) I bought an ice cream maker and Freixenet cava. I am a grown woman now, and I will say how much I like Cava better than Champagne. Fight me.
5) Will be doing Soul’d out and Tedx Portland later on this week, so will be taking my birthday off then.
6) How is YOUR Monday?
–
Happy birthday Ede! ????????????Love the way you have lived your life so far! Keep going! Enjoy your ice cream maker and a cheerful toast with your Freixenet cavas! You smell terrific!
Hey there!
Thank you! *blows noisemaker*
Happy Birthday Ms Accomplished Lady!
Thank you ! I want to do more accomplishments!
Have a wonderful birthday!
Thank you I will!
Happy Birthday! Sounds like an awesome life so far. Keep on!
Happy Birthday!
Awesome list of accomplishments and big happy birthday to you! Cheers!
Thanks so much!
Happy Birthday to you !!
???? happy birthday!!!
How impressive! Love your attitude–and happy birthday!
Happy birthday! Will you make cava sorbet?…
Not this time, but in the summer, yes. I really like making granitas and sorbets but I would do a two step- first freeze mixture in ice cube trays, then blend. But the effect is not very smooth and it’s rather chunky in a bad way.
Happy Birthday! What a great list of accomplishments. I’m sure there are many more to come!????????????
I hope so too! I feel like fortune’s own fool!
Love your list! Happy Birthday and many more!! ????????????
Happy birthday! We’re the same age and I also like cava best of the sparklies. 🙂
YES! 😀
Happy birthday, you’ve had a busy time so far!
May fortune continue to smile upon me!
Happy Birthday!
Happy Scented Birthday, Ede! ???? ????
Happy birthday and keep the attitude going, it’s working for you! 🙂
Woo hoo, Ede! Happy Birthday! Y’all, I’ve had the pleasure of meeting Ede when I was in Portland in 2016 for my niece’s wedding reception. What a dynamo!
Hey you! Thank you!
I need to come back to The City at some point so I can babble at you! (usually the company has me Upstate in Rochester/Webster area.)
Last spring I fell in love with Eau de Magnolia and was unmoved by both En Passant and Bigarade Concentree; this spring Magnolia smells a little dull to me, and I am adoring En Passant and Bigarade Concentree (today’s scent). Fickle, fickle . . .
Ha!
Precisely why I hesitate to get full bottles of anything anymore!
This morning I vowed to never buy more than 10ml of anything!
Hence the reason for Swapmeets!
SOTD is Le Labo rose 31. On my way to lava hot springs in idaho for a nice relaxing soak, and daydreaming about all the trips I’m going to take now that I have flight benefits through my airline job. I think a perfume sniffing tour through NYC, London, or Paris sounds amazing!
I am jealous. And you smell VERY good indeed!
So jealous! Enjoy! ????
Congrats on getting the job! Woot!
Oh, the places you’ll go! ????
Wow… I remember going to Lava Hot Springs as a kid! Thanks for the flashback.
We’re having Pacific Northwest weather here in the SF Bay area today — chilly, cloudy, rain, hail, THUNDER!! So I’m in HOM Future’s Past, one of her Twin Peaks scents. Pine forest and petrichor.
Question for those of you who’ve tried Sultan Pasha scents. I am finally getting around to testing my SP samples, like a year after buying them (yes, embarassed). Anyway. So far, they all seem very… mild. Very low projection. Is it just age, or are they supposed to be like this?
Really? No thunder here, yet ????????????
I still have my unopened sample pack as well. I was discouraged by the format and the instructions to apply with a paper clip due to nuclear strength. Will be interested to read any responses.
Thank God I only bought an 8 sample pack because mine is still sealed and umm, I think it has to now be 2 years old or more and probably evaporated to nothing. Anyway, I bought a large sample of Irisoir and OMG! Sillage / Projection is low but you know you smell good.
HdP Moulin Rouge
You smell lovely!
Moulin Rouge! Because you can-can-can!
😉
You smell great Robin! I got me some Agar Ebene when I was in Milan.
And today I’m in Prada l’Homme.
Ah, then we’ll surely be twins one day eventually!
What does your perfume say about you? A film clip with Roja Dove:
http://www.bbc.com/news/av/business-43728088/what-does-your-perfume-say-about-you
One odd thing the noted in a subtitle is that there are more astronauts than perfumers. That doesn’t seem possible, although I guess it depends on whom you count as perfumers.
That is surprising about astronauts v. noses. Maybe there are just more astronauts than we’re aware of. Lots of them spend their entire careers grounded, apparently. But ya, I have to assume he’s only counting noses who make Perfume and not those who design scents for household products and the like (I can’t think of the word for this category right now. blargle.)
Makes me wonder how many countries have space programs & thus astronauts. There aren’t that many, right?
Thanks for posting! Pekefan sent me a link to that this morning and haven’t even had time to watch it yet.
It’s raining cats and dogs. Wearing Bois des Iles for comfort and beauty.
I meant to add that sandalwood is well represented in my collection and Box of Eels is one of my most beautiful.
You smell like heaven!
BdI is a great pick for both reasons you mentioned.
In terms of notes, I have more jasmine-centric perfumes than any other, so this morning I’m wearing Songes. I think I might be coming to the end of my little 25ml bottle (it feels very light) but I bought a bigger backup a while ago so I’m still set.
I ought to own more jasmine than I do — I think I’m pickier about jasmine than my other big note collections (vetiver, iris, incense).
I’m baaaaack!
Got through surgery okay and I’m at my parents’ house until I feel up to being home on my own. I’m feeling ok for somebody who just had brain surgery 4 days ago. I’m not having any pain that ibuprophen can’t handle. It was a huge relief once I could wash my hair and look a bit less like I’d been raised by wolves.
The good news: IT’S NOT CANCER! This also meant the surgery was less extensive than it could have been.
The not so great news: it is an autoimmune condition called vasculitis so I’ve got some treatment ahead of me.
I also didn’t think to bring any perfume with me so I’m wearing some of the Sweet Dreams oil I had in my purse.
Oh my gosh, what a relief. Sounds like you’re quickly mending. I wish you the best with your treatments! Hopefully it’ll be much less challenging than the alternative.
So happy to hear from you and I’m sure you’re relieved even with the vasculitis piece of news. My MIL has temporal arteritis (in the vasculitis syndrome family) and was on steroids and some other meds for like a year, but is now taking nothing and doing well, with frequent monitoring. Hoping your recovery continues well and treatment goes well, too!
AWESOME!! Hope recovery goes quickly!
So glad to hear the good news! And hope your treatment is swift and successful.
That is such great news! I am so happy for you!!! ????????????????????
Good news! So glad you have your parents for help.
Wow, great news sweetgrass! So happy for you!
glad to hear the surgery went well and the news was that it’s not cancer. Wishing you a speedy recovery and hope you get to reward yourself with some fine scent once you are up for it!
So happy for such great news. I wish you a very speedy recovery.
That’s good news, so pleased for you.
So good to hear the surgery was successful and you are recovering well! Glad to hear you now know what you are dealing with even if it is not the full “all clear” you’d hoped for. Hang in there!
Happy to hear this and sad to hear this as well. Hope your recovery is quick and painless!
Hurray that your surgery went well and that it isn’t cancer! Best of luck with post-op recovery, et al.
Wow, good news! Keep feeling better!
So glad to hear things went well and the diagnosis is not as dire as feared. I hope your treatment is successful and you can be comfortable!
Yay sweetgrass. I am glad things were in your favor!
SOTD is SL Vitriol d’oeillet (had to look that one up to spell it). I realized after thinking it over that my most saturated category of perfumes is ones by Serge. So I’m going with this house all week. This one is pretty good, but I truly wish there were more to the spicy clove carnation part of it. Right now after a few hours I’m getting mostly pepper.
I feel I should apologise to everyone that we’re having the most beautiful weather here in Houston today! Bright blue sky, low humidity, low 70’s. It’s so nice! My windows are open to let in the fresh air. We’ll pay for this soon enough with our ghastly summer sauna weather.
With so much icky weather everywhere, I’m not gonna begrudge anyone if they have the good stuff…
First day back to school for my son. So we got out early as I had to carry two shopping bags of text books and my son’s very heavy backpack while helping him with his walker to get him into school. No problem, right. Now picture doing that with hail and sleet, HAIL!, pelting down. I am annoyed that I didn’t take a picture, but if you are curious, check out this story: http://sanfrancisco.cbslocal.com/2018/04/16/hailstorms-turn-bay-area-neighborhoods-into-wintry-postcards/
What perfume for this damp and weather-challenging day? Plum of course.
Glad he’s back in school. And yes, those backpacks are heavy! We didn’t use backpacks at my school, just carried them with our trapper keepers, or used makeshift bookbags.
OMG, I can’t imagine dealing with all of your area hills with that kind of weather!
Tough day! I hope things went well for him otherwise.
I had no idea what the community project was when I sprayed this a.m. but I am totally on point in Shalimar, with Shalimar being my most saturated perfume category.
I acquired one new-to-me and one deeply-missed Shalimar in the last swapmeet. The deeply-missed was Shalimar Legere (not Shalimar Light, but the original) which I’d been given a decant of in the past and used up. The new-to-me is Eau de Shalimar. Big Huge Thank Yous to both of the wonderful and incredibly generous NSTers who got them into my Shalimar-greedy hands!
I am heads over heels in love with both versions and thought I’d do an experiment today by comparing them.
To my surprise, they are nearly identical. (With the caveat that more discerning noses may pinpoint differences, but to me they are almost exactly the same.) It does explain, however, why I’ve fallen so hard for Eau de Shalimar.
The One Big Difference: Shalimar Legere is long-discontinued and finding bottles is nearly impossible and they’re incredibly expensive when they do come around. Eau de Shalimar is currently priced at $30.74 at fragrancenet, which is where my bottle was originally purchased.
Here is a link. It comes in 2 different bottles. The one in the link (1.7 oz bottle) is the one I have in my possession: https://www.fragrancenet.com/perfume/guerlain/eau-de-shalimar/edt#166245
I hope spring comes soon for those of you suffering ice storms, snowfall, and unseasonably cold weather. Here it is the usual and expected April. Nasty, cold, windy, wet wet wet. But I’ll take that over snow and ice!
Good luck to all the last-minute tax preparers! Hope you all get big refunds ???? Don’t forget that you may want to make some W-4 and other adjustments due to next year’s changes.
Ahhhh, I almost did Shalimar week too!!!! I have Shalimar Light, the edc, edp, and some vintage pdt. Thanks for the recommendation on the Eau de Shalimar. I’m going to have to get my hands on some!
Yeah, I’m tempted now too.
DO IT 😀
Ooh, I’m so glad you did this comparison; I loved Shalimar Light (never had any Legere), and am thrilled to know that Eau de Shalimar is very similar to the Legere, at least. Another temptation…
I’m back in a cool weather favorite: Theorema, for a morning at the dentist and an afternoon job-hunting. Needed a little cozy comfort.
And adding wet weather and taxes into the need for comfort as well. What a Monday!
You smell fantastic! Good luck with all your tasks today. You will survive!
Good luck job hunting!
I’m doing florals this week, which must be the most saturated category in my collection. Today is the lovely Mimosa pour Moi, a soliflore.
Are you feeling any better yet Robin?
Yes, much, thank you! And hugely relieved to have taxes mostly done. Onwards & upwards…
My most saturated category is probably pretty florals, but I’m not on target – wearing Sacrebleu because this is probably the last cool day or cool week before it gets too warm for it. Have to head to San Francisco tomorrow (passport appointments), and plotting on how I can get the whole family to agree to a side trip to ZGO perfumery so I can try Cap Neroli…
Good luck!!
Just a wave to say HALLO EVERYONE!!
I miss NST and leaving regular comments!LIFE.It happens.
But life is pretty good at the moment!
Chanel No.18 is SOTD.Because I can.
Happy week to everyone.Fall has landed in Africa.
X
Hey johanob! Nice to see you, and glad life is treating you well. LIFE does happen…
Waving hello!
*waves back*
*waves* HI! Enjoy the fall weather! Come back and see us more often!
HI Johanob! ???? We have missed you! Glad to hear you are doing good! Smelling wonderful in No.18.
Hiya Johanob! Good to hear from you!
Nice to see you, happy fall!
This is my second day off work with a cold, bleargh! I’m wearing a small spray of Mitsouko, which I can only just smell. It doesn’t smell quite right, but at least I get something through my stuffed up nose.
Yuck. Sorry you are sick! You smell wonderful tho.
Get well soon!
Feel better soon!
Bleah on the cold!
Hope it is quick, Gaynor!
Good afternoon, friends! I am going to go with iris this week because I think I have more of it than anything else in my collection, though I have so many other saturated categories it was hard to choose. But I was in an iris mood this AM, so we will go with it. I am in Hiris today and smell lovely!
I was busy all weekend preparing for a new doggy rescue friend! We’ve been wanting another for a while (ours died a few years back) but wanted to get settled in our new house first. My fiance comes home Wednesday so we figured it was time. I went to the animal shelter and picked out the most adorable boy ever. I bought him a bed and bowls and lots of other goodies this weekend. I can’t wait to get him!
The shelter made me soooo sad though. If I had a lot of property or something I would probably have saved 10 of them! Alas, one will have to do for now.
Sweet about the new lucky doggy! Shelters are super sad and I have the same fantasy about buying a warehouse, even, and making an animal (cats, mostly) sanctuary.
Thank you for having such a great heart and rescuing a beautiful boy. Mine is also a rescued and it was so deppressing going to the shelter just to take him. Like Elisa P, I wish I could have a huge farm or so to support and take care of many animals in need. I hope to win the lottery some day or that an inheritance drops in my lap…. I would be so happy to help!
Lucky dog! You’ll have to keep us updated (I guess I shouldnt speak for others, but I love to hear the about the process of getting a shelter pet in a home, settled, and loved).
I recently went to several local animal shelters with a friend who is looking to adopt. It was really hard. They look at you with their heart in their eyes. I had tears in my eyes throughout the day. So good for you. I would take one if I could but my cat said absolutely NOT!
Congrats on your new furry friend!
Lucky puppy, wishing you a lifetime of love together!
Wild and wet weather here this morning… the rain was pounding on the windows, and I heard several reports of flooded roads in the area. Nothing by me, but the usual low-lying areas got hit pretty hard. ????
SOTD = TF Noir de Noir, from the sample stash and an awesome NSTer. This is absolutely gorgeous, and kind of out of character for Tom Ford. Most of the other TF scents I have tried are big, bigger, and biggest. Not this one. I’d call this one “sensually understated”… it’s present on me, but not a sillage monster. It totally works as a scent for a rainy April day, btw.
Great description. You smell awesome!
Thank you! ????
NdN is so, so good!
OMG, it is! I now understand what the fuss is all about!
SotD = Jardin de Bagatelle
I wore 4 spritzes of JdB last night, it was still going strong this morning. Just topped up for the afternoon. It makes me soooooo happy. 😀
Never actually counted, so it is hard to say if Hermes wins or Guerlain wins most saturated brand in my perfume closet. Floral easily wins most saturated category. It will be interesting to think it over this week.
NST, you smell like a million bucks. Hope Monday was kind to each of you.
I am not going to count anything this week! But not sure what my number 2 brand is after Hermes.
Guerlain’s Encens Mythique d’Orient which I’d chosen before seeing the topic but is probably on point for orientals which I think would still be the mainstays of my collection. They certainly were when I started out but it would be interesting to divide up the bottles and see if it is still true… maybe next time I sort the shelves 😉
And we are probably evil twins — would guess orientals is my least covered category!
SOTD = Prada Purple Rain
We had a torrential downfall in these here parts and Ourpke Rain was perfect. My collection is partially saturated by Prada.
Methinks I probably have more J I Malone than into other line!
!!!
I’m wearing Purple Rain as well because we had another shower (Yay!) 🙂
I also agree with you on Jo Malone. I should probably spend the rest of the week wearing that brand 🙂
That it certainly a consideration but I was thinking of wearing the following houses: Guerlain, Chanel, Hermes and Jo Malone.
So you got hit by the downpour too! Blergh.
This morning was horrible and it looks like my fat fingers got fatter. What’s up with all the errors!
I heard about a lot of messy stuff on the morning traffic reports, and saw some on the news. Yuck!
How do you like the new Jasmine Sambac & Marigold? I quite like it.
I have not tried it yet. Another one for Sniffapalooza.
I have a lot of orientals, but my most saturated house is SSS and I’m desperately ignoring the snow flurries with Voile de Violette.
Lucky you with the SSS!
I didn’t get with the theme this morning — my most saturated category is florals, especially green florals, but I was in the mood for Jo Malone’s English Oak and Redcurrant. Seemed right for the weird weather today — we’ve had temps in the 70s and up to 80 recently, then it went down to 35 last night and will do that again tonight. English Oak has warmth to offset the cold, and the Redcurrant is lively and springy to remind me that it really is April!
I am under the down comforter here too tonight! Hope it also “feels” like April tomorrow.
