Vera Wang has launched Princess Night. The new fragrance for women is a flanker to 2006's Vera Wang Princess, and follows Flower Princess, Rock Princess, Glam Princess and Preppy Princess.

So you've grown out of Princess (and its many spawn, from Flower Princess to Preppy Princess) but you're not ready for one of the signature (read: wedding-appropriate conservative floral) fragrances from Vera Wang, what to do? Vera Wang would like you to consider their new Lovestruck, fronted by actress Leighton Meester. The theme, as you might have deduced from the balcony scene in the ad: a modern twist on Romeo and Juliet.

Lovestruck is a musky floral with your standard fruit bomb opening (tart guava jam and citrus), a cheerful middle-weight fresh floral heart (allegedly tuberose and lotus blossom, and there are vague suggestions of both) and a pale woody-musky dry down (something that could stand in for sandalwood, a little drop of creamy vanilla, plenty of clean musk).

It's wearable, and it's not overly sweet or fruity once the top notes fade...

I do hope the person at Vera Wang who came up with the idea of Princess has been given a hefty raise, and maybe some extra vacation time.¹ The original Princess — born to rule! — launched in 2006, and we've since seen Flower Princess, Rock Princess, and now the new(ish) Glam Princess. The first two flankers were pretty much as advertised: Flower Princess was more floral than the original, and Rock Princess was that clean fruitchouli that you usually get from a mainstream flanker with "rock" in the name.

Glam Princess is pretty close to the original Princess, close enough that it's hard to see why you'd need both...

Rock Princess is the second flanker to 2006's Princess (it follows last year's Flower Princess), and as you can see from the ad copy, it's geared towards a slightly older audience, presumably one that has a later bedtime.
