Prada’s new Infusion de Fleur d’Oranger is the first in a projected yearly series of limited edition “Ephemeral Infusion” fragrances drawing on fragrance notes from the harder-to-find (and more expensive) Prada Exclusive scents. According to Women’s Wear Daily, the Ephemeral Infusion fragrances are designed to “evoke a light memory of the original ingredient”.*
I adore the Prada fragrance line, most or all of which (including this new one) was developed by perfumer Daniela Andrier. I adore Prada Infusion d’Iris, which along with Prada No. 4 Fleur d’Oranger was listed as a progenitor of Infusion de Fleur d’Oranger. Another iris + orange blossom combo, Acqua di Parma Iris Nobile Eau de Toilette, is one of my favorite spring/summer fragrances. So while I didn’t tempt fate by assuming I’d adore Infusion de Fleur d’Oranger, I was pretty sure I’d at least like it.
Nope. I do like it for about 15 seconds…

You’ve probably heard of The Princess and the Pea, but have you heard of The Prince and the Orange Blossom Cologne? Well, the “prince” is me , and though I love the scent of orange blossoms, especially on the tree, it’s been hard for me to find an orange blossom perfume that “sits comfortably” on my skin. I try orange blossom fragrances, one after the other, and think: “too syrupy sweet” “too spicy” “too light” “too feminine” “too powdery” “too sour” “too strident”…too too!
Just in time for spring, John Varvatos is releasing Artisan — a new orange blossom-rich cologne that’s meant to evoke the aroma of pure, fresh, springtime air.* Artisan is Varvatos’ third men’s perfume, and he wanted Artisan to have a “lighter” aroma than his other two fragrances: John Varvatos and Vintage.
Varvatos worked with perfumer Rodrigo Flores-Roux to develop Artisan…

Prada will introduce Infusion de Fleur d’Oranger, a new limited edition fragrance, this coming March. It is the first in a projected yearly series of “Ephemeral Infusion” fragrances.

I've had mixed feelings so far about the By Kilian line. All 6 of the original scents that debuted in 2007 are nicely done, if perhaps no match for the swollen rhetoric of the ad copy, but as I've said before, ultra-luxe trappings don't endear me to a brand. When the prices range from $225 for a refillable 50 ml bottle* nestled in a lacquered box complete with lock and key to $2500 for a 1 liter perfume fountain, I'm prone to roll my eyes. My perfume cabinet is chock-full of masterpieces (and many of them in far handsomer bottles than this one), and I've yet to top $200 for a single bottle purchase.
The latest By Kilian fragrance, Prelude to Love, is a unisex, and like the others in the line, is introduced with great fanfare: “As a splash of crimson blossoms across the cheeks and hearts beat wildly, a refined yet bold bouquet of the noblest citrus soothes and refreshes mounting sensations of exhilaration”. That might actually be more action than I'd like from my perfume, thank you…

I recently purchased Red Flower’s Orange Blossom diffuser to put in a newly remodelled guest bathroom. I was looking for a fragrance that would be light, uplifting and refreshing, while also maintaining a certain air of elegance. I took a chance and ordered the Orange Blossom diffuser unsniffed as I generally have been so pleased with the variety of products I have tried from Red Flower. I was not disappointed!
The Red Flower diffuser fragrances come in lovely recycled light green-blue Spanish glass vases. Their distinctive flattened oval shape lends a flair of modern style to any room. The available fragrances are jasmine grandiflorum, cardamom amber resin, orange blossom and cherry blossom. The website describes the Orange Blossom diffuser as scenting the air with “warm and bright mandarin, oranges, lemon and soft rose honey”…
