It is silly to want a fragrance just for the bottle, right? And it is even sillier if, like me, you don’t keep your perfume bottles on display anyway. Mine are stored away in a dark cabinet, safe from the ravages of heat and light. You might think I open the cabinet frequently just to admire my collection, but you’d be wrong. I open it as rarely as possible, for as soon as I peek in, they all begin taunting me — HA, you’ll never use me up before I spoil anyway.
So I know how ludicrous it is to be in love with Pucci’s Vivara just for its debonair exterior, but there it is. I*want*that*bottle. Not only that, I keep thinking how lovely it would be to have a whole series from Pucci: same bottle design, a different Pucci print on each cap, and each with its own jewel-colored juice. Wouldn’t a whole row of them be just stunning?
Needless to say, I tried hard to fall in love with Pucci Vivara the perfume and not just Pucci Vivara the bottle, but alas, it was not to be…

The Emilio Pucci brand, currently owned by Louis Vuitton Moet Hennessy, is celebrating its 60th anniversary (see articles in the International Herald Tribune and The Telegraph) and as part of the festivities, is reviving a 1966 Pucci perfume called Vivara. The chypre fragrance has been updated by perfumer Francois Demachy:

Yves Rocher’s Hoggar fragrance for men, launched last year in France, is now available at US stores.
The fragrance was created by perfumer Marie-Aude Couture and is described as an “ultra-masculine, oriental woody scent, evocative of desert dunes and winds…” Notes include bergamot, tobacco, tonka bean…

Comme des Garçons has launched their latest fragrance series. Series 8* takes as its theme the Guerilla store concept, in which the company opens stores in “dead” areas of major cities, spends little or nothing on decorating, and “occupies” the premises for a limited time:
Don’t expect any to turn up in style capitals such as New York, Tokyo, Paris and Milan, for the idea is to set up shop in areas which appear to be off the fashion map. Once the city is chosen, the search is on for a place which has something to say about the city’s history. At Bios, for instance, the Parthenon acts as a backdrop (the monument is also featured on the Greek campaign’s poster, which is written in Greek).
Without any fanfare and publicity, each opening is announced only a few days before (“It drops like a bomb,” according to Papadopoulos), while no outlet advertises. (via kathimerini)
Guerrilla 1, the first of the two fragrances in the series, was inspired by a Comme des Garçons Guerilla store in Berlin which took over the premises of a former butcher shop…

Yves Saint Laurent has released Kouros Eau d’Ete for men, a limited edition summer fragrance for 2006. Notes include artemisia, bergamot, blue mint, jasmine, rosemary, cedar and ambergris. (via cosmoty.de & osmoz)
