Bunch o’ limited edition collector bottles 2010, part 3

More limited edition collector fragrance bottles, with the usual disclaimers: in most of these cases, the juice is unchanged, just the bottle is “special” (or not, as the case may be), and some of these may not be available in the US.

Couture Couture by Juicy Couture, Ed Hardy Hearts & Daggers Women, Christian Audigier for Women ~ brief fragrance reviews

Juicy Couture Couture Couture perfume

Recently I did a triple review of Ormonde Jayne Tiare, Stella McCartney Stella Nude and Strange Invisible Perfumes Fire and Cream, and I started out by saying there was no common theme to tie the three fragrances together, to which Mals86 responded in the comments that the theme was clearly “Recent Releases: Very Nice, But Didn’t Grab Me” — true enough in the case of the Ormonde Jayne and the Strange Invisible Perfume, although I don’t think I’d grace the Stella Nude with even a “very nice”. In any case, in the interest of saving you the trouble of reading, I’ll tell you today’s theme up front — “Recent Releases: Don’t Try Them On My Account”.

Couture Couture by Juicy Couture

Juicy Couture has done very nicely for themselves with their fragrance line, and the first two entries for women were both well-executed examples of their respective genres — the original Juicy Couture being a nearly perfect representation of a bright perky mainstream fruity floral, and Viva La Juicy of a young-ish mainstream candied floral gourmand. Neither of those are things I care for terribly, mind you, but I can see the attraction.

Couture Couture is another matter. I originally tried it next to the two earlier Juicy fragrances, and my initial reaction was that I didn’t love any of the three, but that Juicy Couture and Viva La Juicy at least smelled like perfume, whereas Couture Couture, whilst most definitely possessing a smell, did not…

Ed Hardy Man and Ed Hardy Love & Luck Man ~ fragrance reviews

Ed Hardy Man and Ed Hardy Love & Luck Man colognes

Around the time Ed Hardy Man was released, I told friends how much I loved Ed Hardy designs, and that I intended to buy a piece of Ed Hardy jewelry. I noted the shocked looks on my friends’ faces, their barely suppressed laughter, and I thought: “Wimps! I think the designs are interesting!” It took about a month, and a trip to Nordstrom, to realize my mistake. I had confused ED Hardy designs:

with JOHN Hardy designs…

Ed Hardy Love & Luck for Women ~ perfume review

Ed Hardy Love & Luck for Women fragranceThe Ed Hardy by Christian Audigier brand, which as near as I can tell involves designer Christian Audigier creating fashions inspired by Ed Hardy's tattoo designs, was established in 2004, and in the relatively short time since, has made an impressive number of licensing agreements. The brand name appears on a multitude of items ranging from beer and energy drinks to remote control airplanes and motorcycle helmets. The fragrances, which debuted last year under arrangements with New Wave, have done especially well:

Through June, the Ed Hardy Women and Men scents ranked as the top and third-best selling new fragrances in the U.S. market, with $7 million and $3.5 million in sales respectively, according to NPD, which tracks perfume sales. The Ed Hardy scents, which cost $55 for 1.7-ounces and $75 for 3.4 ounces, beat out new fragrances from heavyweights Burberry, Guess and Vera Wang.

So far this year, New Wave has moved $33 million of Ed Hardy fragrances in the United States and around the world. (Miami Herald; 10/27/2008)

Not surprising, then, that they're following up with a new duo. Under consideration today: the women's version of Love & Luck…
