Happy Almost-Friday, and don't forget to honor Chocolate Ice Cream Day! What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm in Dawn Spencer Hurwitz Kaleidoscope.
Reminder: on 6/8, wear one of your "top 10 of summer" fragrances (unless it's winter where you are, in which case wear one of your "top 10 of winter" scents).
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2018, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
Note: shown is Dark Chocolate Brownie from Graeter's.
I am in Hermes Eau de Rhubarbe Ecarlate.
And today I discovered this very funny review of Rhubarbe Ecarlate and Neroli Dore –
http://persolaise.blogspot.com/2016/04/persolaise-review-rhubarbe-ecarlate.html?m=1
loving the rhubarbe!
That review is hilarious thanks for the morning laugh.
Really good! LOL!
Ha, I’d forgotten that one! Love the X-box thing.
Yeah, JCE playing an X-box game on a big plasma screen is probably the funniest part. š
Good morning and enjoying a brief cold snap. Today Iām in Chanel Paris – Deauville which is a Citrus/Spicy wonder. And it has longevity. Six to eight hours yesterday.
Wow, I will have to go try those! If I can ever drag myself to a mall again.
Have you tried the others? Your impressions
I have Biarritz as well. I love the greenness, but for a brief moment in the dry down I got an astringent bathroom cleaner vibe. Just a bit and I was in the bathroom so it may have been locus dependent reaction. ????
Deauville is a wonder to me. Effortlessly unisex and wonderfully citrus – spicy mix. The basil note is perfectly blended. This will quickly become a summer favorite.
I passed on Venise as vanilla tends to leave me smelling sweaty hoe down funky. In a bad way. ????
I couldnāt decide between Deauville and Venise. Your description of Deauville sounds amazing! Did your bottles come with the jersey pouch? I was watching a YouTube video first impressions, and those were my top two. I went with venise, which should be delivered today.
No jersey sack. But they were boxed beautifully.
ha! Your descriptions have me interested in these again. I’d given up on chasing after Chanel perfume lemmings as they seem so deliberately inaccessible.
But I do loves me a good cologne, and Chanel’s perfume ingredients are (can be) undeniably top notch.
I tried them all and really liked Deauville. For me they don’t have a ‘cologne’ identity so much as a “mist” identity. They are more gentle than cologne but equally refreshing.
SotD was Satori. Gorgeous. One of my favourite discoveries this year.
Climate regulation system in our office is not performing well. So I had a hot, sweaty, muggy day…and a headache. Urgh.
Oh and I had meetings all day long. I am sooo glad this work day is over.
Oh my text was not supposed to be a reply. Ah well, I just leave it here anyways. Haha.
It must be the heat…. š
I enjoyed reading it. Hope it cools down.
I have been seriously lemming Satori and read good things about Wasanbon (sp?) on BdJ. You smell wonderful!
Tell me more about Satori?
‘Satori’ is a woody spicy scent, made by a japanese perfumer, Satori Osawa (the brand name is, surprise surprise, Parfum Satori)
Bergamot, coriander, cinnamon, sandalwood, agarwood, vanilla, oakmoss. (And more)
It is very subtle and well balanced. And it works perfectly for me in the summer heat we are now experiencing (some people crave citrus when it gets hot, I need spices and woods/incense)
Longevity and sillage are not huge. It becomes a skin scent after 3 to 4 hours.
And its crazy expensive. (Almost Tom Ford Private Blend expensive)…but I bought a bottle anyways ???? (..but that means: no shoes for me for a while haha).
you smell great!
I was reading along about Satori and thinking that I didnāt remember such positive comments about it in the past. Then I saw ācrazy expensiveāāall wrongāand realized Iād been thinking of Natori. Oops.
I liked Deauville the best of all three!
Good Morning everyone…
Lapsang Souchong tea and Assam of India (thanks to a generous NSTer)
Listening to Le Trio Jourbran
Have a fragrant day!
You smell great!????
Why, thank you āŗļø
Chocolate ice cream is exactly what I need today! Thanks for the picture Robin. It is making me walk down to the cafeteria to get some. ????????????
Wearing Jo Malone Mimosa and Cardamom.
I love ice cream. Graeter’s Black Cherry Chocolate Chip is my current obsession.
Have you tried the Graeter’s Black Rasberry Chocolate Chip Stout? It comes in cans. I have not tried yet, but I have seen it in some supermarkets. I will be grabbing some soon.
I have. I prefer the cherry just because. Also, it goes very well with dark chocolate cherry sauce, if you keep such a thing in your fridge š
We don’t get Graeter’s here, but cherry+chocolate is such a good flavor combination.
It is! I am still mad at Ben & Jerrys for discontinuing the Chocolate Cherry Garcia.
Since I’m a chocoholic, this is my day. One tiny spray of Black Orchid for it’s coco note. This one is in my winter stash, but a very nice, cool morn makes me feel I can handle it. Thanks for all the good thoughts yesterday.
I looooved Black Orchid when I had it – especially in cool weather. If only it came in smaller sizes so I can refill. I never could wrap my head around wearing it in daytime (it really felt to me like a evening date perfume, in cool weather) so it took forever to use it – and it doesn’t age that well either.
I agree. Winter is perfect & it really says take me out tonight! Found myself really liking it after being a bit unsure at first. So many notes in it that I adore.
Chocolate ice cream, yum! Local artisan creamery makes a 70% dark chocolate ice cream, sooo good. I am wearing Cuir Beluga today.
Lemming that ice cream
Ooh that sounds yum. Is Cuir Beluga a summer fave? I’ve only ever worn it in deep winter.
I wear it year round, it isnāt too strong or sweet for me.
I’m in the lovely Chanel Cristalle today. Took my decant of it on vacation last week and used up nearly half of it – nice to be back home, spraying from a big bottle. š
That one is lovely
Annick Goutal Neroli for me and great idea with the icecream!
Twins!
Great smelling twins!
it is lovely in summer š
Falling in Love with Paris tea
Saw what you did there! ;D
good eye FearsMice š
Annick Goutal Neroli
Yum. And you match your name.
Timbuktu!
Another yum!
Wearing l’Air de Rien by Miller Harris.
I smell as if I just rolled in from a dirty weekend. š
Tonight is the annual Food Bank Gala and Fundraiser, and this years theme is “The Red Carpet”
I figured the l’Air would mesh well with the leopard wrap dress and Notice Me shoes I plan to don for the event.
A dirty āextendedā weekend, itās Thursday.????
Well, if you are going to have a dirty weekend, you might as well have fun
Dirty weekends are fun.Lol.
Leopard wrap dress sounds amazing!
I am wearing Christian Dior Miss Dior Originale today.
This morning I used Lush Rub Rub Rub shower scrub on my hands to exfoliate. I love the scent !! On the label, right under the name it says “sea salt, mimosa and orange blossom”. So pleasant š
That sounds great. I just stopped into Lush last night so my daughter could pick out a teacher gift. I wish I could just walk around smelling like the inside of the store- it just smells so good!
Sounds very nice!
I usually complain about orange blossom often smelling soapy to me, but if it’s, you know, Actual Soap, no problem. š
Oh, that does sound tempting!
That ice cream! Yum!
Our university makes and sells ice cream, and my favorite flavor is Mocha Macchiato. Coffee flavored ice cream with swirls of caramel and dark chocolate flakes. Sooo delicious.????
SotD is Eau des Merveilles.
You smell eau so delicious!!????
I second this!
You smell great! We’re house twins today.
And I third this, johanob. EdM is delicious.
I grew up close to the University of Maryland and the agriculture school had a dairy and sold ice cream also. They had extremely odd and unpredictable hours, but it was always such a treat to go get ice cream there – it was delicious!
We must have grown up near each other, I have fond memories of U of Md ice cream trips as well š
Crazy! Where did you go to high school? I’m Northwestern ’91. And I may be confusing you with someone else – are you in San Diego now too?
Bowie ’81. I’m in the SF Bay area nowadays.
PG County represent! There’s lots of Cali people here – I forget who is north and who is south.
Virginia Tech’s Dairy Club sells milkshakes at football games. There isn’t an on-campus ice cream shop per se, but I think the dining halls get their dairy products from milk produced from the university farms.
I wish that my favorite chocolate ice cream of all time was still being made. Anyone remember Mandarin Chocolate Sherbet from Baskin-Robbins? It’s been decades since they stopped making it and I still remember the dark chocolate and orange flavor. It was black, not brown. It looked as if it could be a black licorice ice cream. Oh well, I happen to have a pint of my second favorite, which is Haagen-Dazs Chocolate Peanut Butter. Guess what’s for dinner? On a side note, I’m wearing one of my favorite summer scents, Hanbury.
When Starbucks first made it to Canada (late 90s), they had a dark chocolate orange latte that was absolutely amazing. I love that combo, and was super sad when they stopped selling it. The ice cream sounds wonderful – too bad it is also discontinued!
You know, their hot chocolate was fabulous a decade ago–thick and decadent and full of chocolate and flavor. I had a Starbucks hot chocolate in France two years ago (I missed America) and it was quite meh; I blamed the French. Then I came back to the US and had their hot chocolate last fall, aaaaand it appears Starbucks hot chocolate has just gone significantly down in quality š
I remember that really thick hot chocolate! Now everything tastes like Milo.
I can’t say I ever had that delicious-sounding libation but I still miss the granola Starbucks sold ohhh about 25 years ago *gulp*. Nowadays when I get flavored drinks there or anything with sweetener I order it with 1/4 of the syrup/chocolate/sugar.
Yes! I do remember that flavor. It was very “adult”, lol, but I liked it. And I’m a big fan of HD PB&C as well.
Haagen-Dazs Chocolate Peanut Butter is LIFE! It’s my total favorite! I never had that Baskin- Robbins, but I love any chocolate orange combo.
I love HD chocolate penut butter too. Wanted to buy some last night but couldnāt find it at my grocery store.
Jaw on the floor. Mandarin Chocolate Sherbet… that sounds SO good.
Baskin-Robbins used to do a tangerine sherbet, the memory of which has set me drooling.
SOTD is Diptyque Tempo from somewhere…possible freebiemeet? Anyway, Iām not a fan, but it will have to do until I shower.
Bummer to be stuck in something you don’t like. But, for what it’s worth, I think you smell good. I quite liked Tempo.
I love Tempo. Maybe you need to spray more!
Stressful day at work.
But I am smelling lovely in Profumo Vanille Bourbon and VCA Orchidee Vanille.
Deep breaths. Deep vanilla breaths. ????
I hope your day improves as you inhale the vanilla yumminess.
I did some damage with face masks on eBay yesterday, thanks for the Psa
Hope the stress at work eases. Enjoy your vanilla.
Philosykos for the last day of school. Woo hoo!
Woo hoo! You smell wonderful!
Hooray! That’s great news. š
Yay!!
Heading homeward today with a stop in Delaware tonight to break up the 12 hour drive. Grabbed an unlabeled Sephora sample out of my bag. Took me a minute to figure what it was: Atelier Iris Rebelle. It’s a good low spillage perfume for a car ride. I like it, but I’m not finding it totally compelling.
Long drive! Long road trips don’t bother me much, it’s a nice break from routine.
I tried Iris Rebelle last week and really loved the first few hours, it reminds me of Hiris! š
I don’t mind them either, especially when I’m not doing the driving, though I do take over for a few hours. It’s all about the music and roadside diners for me (we’re at one now!).
I haven’t smelled Hiris in ages. I’ll have to give it a sniff again.
LOVE eating in diners on the road. Pancakes + 2 eggs cooked over hard are my favorite any time of day or night.
Me too. Usually breakfast items but got a burger with fried green tomatoes on top, because, South!
I LOVE eggs over hard. I try to cook my eggs that way on weekends and I’m successful 20% of the time.
“low spillage perfume” ha! you win auto-correct of the day š
Ha! I didn’t even notice that. But, it did NOT spill, so, accurate ????
Yes, excellent.
It’s hot but not yet sweltering here in the desert, and I’ve been enjoying my summer colognes all week. Up today: Eau de Rochas, a recent acquisition from the evil bay. It’s very nice – I might save it for September, when it’s still hot but I’m sick of all my citrus options.
Love EdR. You smell wonderful!
I’m staying home sick today to recover. Sampling April Aromatics Precious Wood on one hand which has a beautiful labdanum clove gingery base that has facets similar to a good bar of dark chocolate (not the fruity kind).
Speaking of which, I accidentally dropped my bag of cocoa powder all over the office floor a few days ago. The whole office stunk to high heaven for a few days.
It could of smelled worse
You could’ve dropped something far worse! Your SOTD sounds wonderful.
Hi everyone. I’m wearing MFK APOM this morning for its lovely and gentle rose. I seem to be wanting rose for the hot summer lately, but not super-heavy roses. This is from a sample that has really grown on me. It was “meh” at first, but once you’ve worn it for awhile, the dry down is delicious. Yesterday I had more doctor appointments and found out my hip surgery has to be postponed because my electrolytes are too low. I was REALLY disappointed. My brother told me to try Pedialyte–I got some and it’s not too bad. I believe people on here have commented on coconut water–but what do you do with it? It’s supposed to be quite good at supplying electrolytes.
So many people on here don’t like coconut water, but I actually quite like it! It’s refreshing to me, I just drink it over ice like ice water.
Oh, interesting! I’ll buy some and try it.
I’m also a fan. I was surprised by the strong negative reactions, too, as I find it to barely have any taste (the plain, unflavored ones). I really like it with pineapple juice!
Oh, I’m sorry about the postponement. I tried the grace coddington perfume you mentioned when I was up in Auckland and liked it. I usually find rose a bit heavy or bold so it made a nice chnage.
Did you like that cute cat bottle, as well?
I’m so sorry, Calypso š I drink coconut water straight from the fridge, just like I might drink soda or juice. I like to drink it after big workouts or hikes or other dehydrating activities like that.
I’ve tried a lot of brands, and my favorite by FAR is Harmless Coconut Water. It’s kind of pricey and needs to be refrigerated, but it’s the only one I’ve found whose taste resembles the taste of what you get when you machete open a baby coconut and drink its juice–a taste I’m well acquainted with from many trips to India š
I’ll look for it!
Did they happen to tell you which electrolytes are low and how to replace them? Sodium is easier to replace. Sorry you’re having to delay this.
Yes, sodium and chloride. Kind of funny because I’ve never been one to avoid salt! But those are both found in coconut water, from what I’ve read. I’m actually finding the Pedialyte not too bad in the fruit flavour. I packed it in yesterday and actually woke up feeling very good this morning, so perhaps it’s helping. I think hydration is an issue due to our terrific ongoing heat and the fact more that I’m just sweating more due to hauling around the big hip brace, parts of which also cling to my body in unpleasant ways. Thanks for these coconut water tips, everyone!
A great excuse to chow down some potato chips!
Just did that!
What a bummer to have your surgery postponed! I was going to suggest what Elisa P already has… take the opportunity to enjoy some potato or tortilla chips.
Maybe you can freeze coconut water and use it as ice for your regular drinks?
I’m so tired. My daughter had insomnia last night and I kept drifting in and out of sleep. We ended up missing the bus, so she stayed home (half day) I still made it to work on time though. I was craving powder, so sotd is LouLou. I sure smell pretty ????
I hope you have a very good night sleep tonigh, Lillyjo. Get your Diet Coke my friend. I already have one in my hand!????????
I’ve got a whole liter with me, now on my lunch????
Passing you a cup of my tea
Graciously accepting.
Loulou is wonderful.You smell awesome!
Thanks! It’s on my perfumed letter list! It’s hard deciding what perfume best represents yourself. Could be a community project?
Haha!Good plan for a community project!I would of course know immediately if your letter has been LouLou-fied!hehe!Looking forward to it!
X
Yuck. Insomnia sucks. I hope that both you and your daughter have a restful sleep tonight.
Today I should have chosen Aquolina Chocolovers for the chocolate ice cream tie-in, but what I had left in my bottle seems to have evaporated! Instead, I am wearing HG Moon Bloom for summer flowers.
Oh, sorry about your Chocolovers! I still wish I’d bought the darned body cream.
You do smell great though!
I’m in Bronze Goddess and sprayed about 7 sprays a la hajusuuri! š It’s so wonderful, I’ve been wearing it a lot the past several weeks. I need more beachy scents I think…
I could easily do two or three weeks of summer scents- I love summer and love perfume both ha!
Summer scents are wonderful. I’m going to give Terracotta a lot of attention this summer. Do you feel like your scent choices shifted after you moved house?
I do not feel like my scent choices necessarily shifted after moving, but I have definitely noticed the difference in the way my scents behave in the dry air versus the super humid southern air. I mainly feel like my scent choices have expanded since falling down the rabbit hole haha. The longer I go, the more open I’ve become to things I didn’t think I liked before.
Thanks for sharing! š Years ago I moved from humid to a dry climate. I noticed that I like my big florals more in the drier air, they smell airier.
I’ve been hajusuuriing a lot of perfumes lately! I almost never use just one or two sprays anymore.
LOL. Go big or go home!
You go girl!
Koyel, I love that we say āhajusurringā as a verb! š
Iāll have a cup of hot cocoa in a bit,to join in the chocolatey celebrations of Ice cream day, because Winter down here you know…lol
SOTD!
LāOccitane Ambre&Santal.Would have worked for the milky community challenge as well.Soft creamy sandalwood and delicious vanillic amber.Itās such a cozy perfume and makes me feel like wearing a soft cashmere sweater.
My work week is DONE!Yay!So itās actually weekend starting NOW.Netflix and comfort food,a shopping trip to Johannesburg and a housewarming party:my weekend.
Happy Thursday!
X
Your weekend sounds amazing! Enjoy!
Thank you!
Sounds like a wonderful weekend ahead of you!
Yes it is going to be a good weekend!Despite Winter!????
I hope winter is bringing you lots of rain as your water shortages have sounded pretty desperate this year. Have a happy weekend!
Thank you Kanuka!Winter has been a blessing regarding the rains. The Cape even had some major flooding these past few weeks.Back to āalmost normalā.Enjoy the rest of your week!
Enjoy your weekend!
Thanks Lillyjo,happy Thursday!ā¤ļø
Excellent plans for the weekend! Also, I’m glad to hear that you are getting some badly-needed rain down there. I’ll happily send you my rain, if I could!
Opardu, which is one of my top five summer scents!
Seriously, Opardu is such a pretty thing. You smell great.
I LOVE it. I found a 17ml, mosyly full, travel spray on the bay. Eventually, I will need a FB.
Beautiful! I wore that to the wedding on Saturday. Shockingly, my husband chose it out of a 3 scent line-up I gave him, since I could’t decide. He said it smelled “fancy”, lol.
hahaha! Men can be so funny.
3 scent line up! Lol!
I love “fancy” ????
You smell gorgeous!
SotD = Hiris
So pretty, so neglected, wish I could wear several perfumes at once and still enjoy each one. I often feel like Amadeus trying on wigs and wishing he had three heads.
Yay for chocolate ice cream day. I had not heard of Graeter’s but may get a taste this summer if I am able to visit friends in Columbus, OH.
In any case, I have a quart of salted caramel gelato from Trader Joe’s stashed behind the frozen broccoli where my teenagers will never find it. La-la-la!
If you get to Columbus, you’ve gotta try Jeni’s Ice Cream too. It’s one of the things I miss most about living there.
Jeni’s book (can’t remember title) on making her ice creams at home is pretty darn good, too… if you can’t get to Columbus…
There are a few Jeni’s in Los Angeles, I added that to my summer to-do list. Yum.
Love your new bird…saw it early this morning….
thanks, cm8! I like your blue sky. š
Credit to the artist of the bird:
http://blogdelanine.blogspot.com/
Every month Janine does a bird calendar page that I use as wallpaper on my laptop. I cropped this month’s bird for my gravatar.
I like it…very summery!
Credit for all of my present and past avatars go to the younger Marzipans who really enjoy taking nature photographs (and then their mother “steals” them without giving credit-LOL!)
Would you consider the 3-eyed own nature?
LOL! I guess my stomach would consider the three eyed “owl” nature š
I love your ice cream storage strategy š
hahahaha, I was inspired by a mom who keeps mini Snickers in a frozen broccoli bag. š
Yes, good strategy, I dont have kids, but I may use that trick to hide ice cream stash from my husband. š
Pretty new gravatar!
thanks, Jalapeno! It’s the bluebird of perfumed happiness. š
I’m wearing Eris Night Flower, which is not a summer perfume. I got it from koyel in the last swap meet. It’s strong, rich, and smells expensive. I’m taking advantage of one of the last days I can stink up my office. My coworker comes back from vacation on Monday.
Oh meant to also say that we polished off a pint of Salt & Straw Chocolate Gooey Brownie ice cream earlier this week. That stuff is delicious.
Ooh now that sounds good. I’m all about multiple layers of chocolate in my ice cream.
Yes, there’s a lot of brownie pieces in this one. Caution if you’re sensitive to salt, the brownie is on the salty side, which I love. My boyfriend and I love S&S’s ice cream, but a friend finds all of the ones she’s tried too salty. She prefers Molly Moon’s, which I just don’t understand.
It seems like she hasn’t been gone long enough. Stink away!
Yes! Glad you’re putting it to use. I can only wear it when it’s cold out š
???? It was cloudy and cool this morning, so the weather did have an influence on me.
Hello all! I’m wearing Bulgari Omnia Paraiba. Such a fun scent! And I believe I will be honoring Chocolate Ice Cream day later tonight – got some in the freezer already!
Ant update – they have reached insane levels, so called a pest control company and they are coming today! Worth it to spend some money for my sanity.
Once I lived in an apartment with carpenter ants. I finally caved and called the management company when it got to the point where ants would crawl up our legs when we sat on the couch.
Eeeeeeeek! That had to have been absolutely horrible!
Ugh, HATE carpenter ants. And carpenter bees! I’d rather have termites, which just eat your wood without you knowing š
Totally agree, peace of mind is priceless.
Morning. Yesterday I wore ummagamma from a sample Waterdragon gave me. I was quite disappointed after hearing it mentioned so often. To me, it lacked definition and would, in fact, match today’s chocolate icecream image. It wasn’t heavy or stodgy but opaque swirls with no highlights to lift out the colour. Today I’m a happy chappy in Sycomore.
Hmm, that’s interesting about Ummagumma; I haven’t smelled it myself yet.
Anyway, you’re killing it today in Sycomore!
Twins! My SotE is Sycomore.
I was a little disappointed in ummagumma as well but only in that I felt like I’d smelled many iterations of it before (and at less jacked prices.) I did like it in the end, however, and agree it would be on theme ????
Thanks, guys. Now I can no longer focus on work; I MUST have chocolate ice cream ASAP! š
I’m wearing the infallible Wrappings today — quickly becoming an all-seasons favorite.
Wrappings is gorgeous….I could definitely see it as an all season fragrance but I only wore it in the winter around 30ish years ago (whenever it first came out)….I always associated it with Christmas and presents because of the name…..
I recently wore Wrapping in cool, cloudy weather, and I think I like it more in warmer weather. I’ll have fun testing this idea out. ????
Ack! That should be “Wrappings”!
I adore Wrappings, a favorite in Summer or Winter. I initially think of it as a winter scent, primarily because of the gift sets that are released at that time.
I had chocolate chocolate cake pop from Starbucks instead of ice cream!
Finally got the nerve to test Niral, hoping very much that I could pass on it. Well, I can. It is lovely, but similar in feel to other Duchaufours I have. Oddly, it made me suddenly crave Rose Opera from Scent on Canvas, which I haven’t sniffed in years. Now I am hankering for a bottle of Rose Opera. Sigh! A perfume lover is never sated!!!
So true, it’s very odd what weird, almost forgotten perfumes pop into my mind from time to time.
I only have a dabber sample of Niral and it was not love at first sniff.
SOTF: Narciso Poudre. Two quick sprays at Duty Free. Cross country middle seat. Ugh.
But Iām set…various things loaded in my iPad in case WiFi goes out and/or entertainment system is out. Also reading Keeper of Lost Things. So, Iām in good shape.
That middle seat is dreadful ???? Hope you have a decent flight back!
I *think* on West Jet the first 6 rows of coach that you can pay additional$ for not only have extra leg room but also the middle seat reserved. As in, they’re held empty and shared by the people at the window and aisle.
Hope you get nice seat-mates, LizzieB! And that it all goes quickly.
I am wearing The Pour un Ete, both because it’s a summer fave and because it’s nice and light for the airplane. Sadly, thanks to a lunchtime mishap, I also smell like caesar dressing, which is neither a summer fave nor good for travel.
I loved The pour un Ete, so light and transparent. Sad to see it discontinued, Artisan had a few summer faves that are gone … this one, Ananas Fizz, a mandarine one.
SOTD-in-my-mind is Alkemia Black Magic Woman, since its supposed to have a big devil’s food cake note. But I work in healthcare and its hot out, so…
A wasp stung the side/almost bottom of my foot yesterday and I’m a little mad that no one has mentioned my limp. If some helpful handsome person wanted to help, he’d notice my Narciso Poudree.
I’m so sorry about your foot! I’ll cross my fingers for a helpful handsome person to notice your limp!
Owwwww! I’m impressed that you can walk on your foot after being stung by a wasp!
Ouch! That had to sting. I was stung on the bottom of my foot years ago. I can still remember the pain. It was awful. I haven”t walked barefoot in the grass since.
OW! I’ve only been stung once in the past couple of decades and it was right in my cleavage. Naughty bee got into my bra and couldn’t figure out how to escape, it would seem…
YAWN. We are having daily 7am meetings for work, and I am a zombie. Ugh.
Also working on my sitting-up posture since I’m working from home and Kooky The Cat has decided that he must sit between me and the back of my chair. Must. Then he complains if I lean back at all. Hmph.
SOTD is chicken soup. Hoping that’ll cure whatever’s going on with my schnozz today.
Daily! That is evil.
That is insane! I hope chicken soup cured whatever you had!
Late after a very busy day. My SOTD is Musc MonoĆÆ by Patricia de NicolaĆÆ. It’s so lovely, and very very summery.
Tea is a lovely green jasmine tea.
She does such great summer scents.
Lovely, sort-of sunny day with almost perfect temps today. Too bad it won’t last… the forecast is calling for yet another rainy, yucky weekend. I think that makes it #7 in a row.
SOTD = SJP Covet, from the sample stash, and a generous NSTer. When I first tried on the sample,I had a hunch that it would be a great summer scent. (It is!) No chocolate ice cream for me, though. I’ve had too many sugary treats lately, so it’s time to behave for a little while.
Yes, Iām busting out all over, including bra and underwear! Send some of that ābehavingā juju my way. I need it. ????
Will try my best, but the aether has been strange lately!
“June is bustin’ out all over
All over the meadow and the hill
Buds’re bustin’ outa bushes
And the rompin’ river pushes
Ev’ry little wheel that wheels beside the mill”
The song kinda seems like a celebration of bustin’ out – I say go with it, Deva! š
We haven’t had a nice weekend in a long time. It was either snowy or cold and now rainy. Can we keep dreaming about a nice, sunny, beautiful, perfect one? (sigh!)
It would be nice to see a sunny, warm weekend before Labor Day, wouldn’t it?
I’m so glad it’s chocolate ice cream day! I should get some chocolate gelato or an affogato after work today to celebrate. š
Wearing Estee Lauder’s Knowing, from an old bottle. Oh my how this was a gorgeous scent. I should wear it more often.
Checking in late after a morning spritz of No 5 body oil (love; will panic when it runs out) followed by an early afternoon shower of Shalimar Legere (love; will tap bottle of Eau Dr Shalimar when it runs out as they’re nearly identical.)
Late today, as I spent hours at the shelter doing a photo shoot of cats and kittens for a big adoption event next week. You’ve heard of that expression, “herding cats”? Yeah, it was like that.
SOTD is Diorella!
Oh how fun! Squish the kitties for me!! I wish I were there to help. š
And you smell wonderful…
How delightful!!! I hope you had good fun š
Hope you get lots adopted!
Yay for cute kitties! Good luck next week!
I hope that your event sees a lot of cats & kittens finding their happy forever homes! Good luck! ????
Thanks, y’all. We are overrun with kittens right now, so we’re hoping to adopt out 60+. ????????????????
So good of you! I bet those photos are heart stoppers! There is a van/dog person I follow on Instagram who happened across a misplaced 3 week old kitten that she took in and is looking to adopt out. Her slogan is āAdopt Catsy Cline!ā So cute!
Paris-Venise is not much of a love as I was expecting. But I do love how it dispenses from the sprayer. The bottle has a fine vertical crack on the front, and I contacted Chanel. Idk if Iāll keep or give away after I exchange this bottle. Another perfume order of Madera arrived, and this is a keeper. Yummy.
Do tell about the Madera!
I ordered it too. Madera is a sweet caramel scent.
SOTD = Chanel No. 19 EDT
Itās a favorite year round!
I stopped by Saks Beauty on 2:
???? bright and organized
???? sterile and lacks personality
I circled the perimeter twice but had no time to consider the counters in the center.
I was able to try Hermes Cardamusc (meh). At $375 a pop, I will try Musc Pallida before considering a purchase.
I bought Armani Privee Iris Celadon and got a fabulous Beauty 2.0 tote filled with A LOT of STUFF. I already have a decant of it and may include in a swap.
Besides the tote bag GWP, I got samples from Hermes, Aesop, Acqua di Parma (although not the new vaniglia) and TF Vanille Fatale.
If I find a Guerlain that can be filled in the bee bottles, I am going to choose the green one – so pretty!
I treated myself to an Uber instead of hailing a cab. W00t!
Iāll save the commuting woes for tomorrow!
Hey, money saved on the Cardamusc! So, the Guerlain bee bottles now come in colors, or did I misread your post?
You read it right. I wanted to include a link here but my linking mojo has a technical glitch. Just google Guerlain colored bee bottles. So so pretty. I would have arranged them in ROYGBIV where possible.
Wow, sounds like a wonderland????????
Sounds like it was a good scouting trip. Wondering how you like the Vanille Fatale.
You smell perfect, but of course you know this! And sounds like a good day indeed!
OOO thanks for the report!!! I guess I will have to make a trip there one of these days.
Love the coloured bee bottles! I want purple and green, my two favourite colours.
Inspired by Coumarin yesterday, today I have on many sprays of vintage Poison edt. At least 6!
Very busy day again. And to start this week off (on Monday) we learned we have to track out time on what tasks we do by the minute, for the next 5 weeks, ugh!). Every few years we have to do this to justify our jobs so management can justify theirs.. And it’s also a thinly disguised way of cutting staff and make process improvements down the road. Grumble grumble.
I narrowly escaped having to manage a project to get this work done! We’ve been doing this continuously over the past decade and have implemented changes. Good luck!
Crisis averted! It sounds like you don’t need any additional responsibilities.
Thanks. At least this time around we now have our tracking on a spreadsheet with drop down categories. If my time doesn’t add up at the end of the day, I add a few minutes to the “general office maintenance” category. We all laughed because someone said that should cover our ‘incidentals’ during the day.
Ha! Yes, we nurses have to wear trackers at many facilities. Itās basically a GPS embedded in your ID to continuously track your location. They even have one now that tracks your hand washing- how frequently, where, and for how long. Itās a brave new world ????
Oh my goodness. It’s everywhere! The hand washing brings it to a whole new level. Scary..
