Happy Hump Day! Monty Python's Flying Circus debuted on this day in 1969. Do choose your fragrance accordingly! (And do tell us what you picked.)
I'm in Guerlain Chamade, just because 1969.
Reminder: on 10/7 we're doing "At the movies" — name a favorite movie, and wear a perfume that fits the movie or a character in the movie.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2016, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
Muscs Koublai Khan, Serge Lutens. Huge animalic musks. Fuzzy, warm, comforting, yet somehow still terrifying. Grrrrrrrr… Movie character of the day has to be King Kong…
ROOOOOOAAAARRRR!
Perfect!
sounds like a pair!
King Kong. Well done!
eau de Neroli Dore
Ah, you smell great! I keep meaning to buy the body products, then I keep balking at the prices.
I watched Dumbo last night while going through my hurricane supplies, preparing, so today I spritzed Dzing! for the circus. Which also works for Monty Python’s Flying Circus. Accidental scent win.
I am drinking a cup of Malawi medium roast coffee while refreshing news about Matthew.
Oh, Dzing! is too perfect! Stealing your genius idea. My dad got us kids hooked on Monty Python growing up- Life of Brian is still my favorite.
Nothing has ever topped Life of Brian as my all-time favorite movie.
Dzing! is a cracker of a scent and totally circus appropriate. You smell great.
Sigh, Dumbo. I always cry at “Baby Mine.”
Excellent perfume-movie/show pairing, and you smell great!
I’m wearing Tubéreuse Criminelle because my mother was a hamster and my father smelled of elderberries.
And I’m doing tuberose week.
😀
bwahahaha!
😉
“Ni”!
Wiiiiith … a herring!
My husband and I made the mistake of riffing on the “we want a shrubbery” bit when we drove past the nursery, and now my eleven year old says it whenever we pass an odd tree. He has no ideas why it’s funny. . . .
Good one!
Love it????
You’re awesome.
I fart in your general direction! (I’m really sorry! But I had to go there: it’s integral to the scene ????)
It so is 🙂 ! And I was being too squeamish to post it. It’s my favourite totally random English phrase, but as the Dutch have a reputation for a lack of politeness I chose the safer option, but I love the notion of directing one’s farts.
I’m so glad I did not read this while I was at work.
LOL!
Bois des Iles today. Feels perfect with the slight chill in the air.
You smell lovely!
envy 🙂
Hey Twin. Joining you today.
My thoughts go out to all those affected by the Hurricane..the front of the WSJ this morning said it all. Please be safe..
I am doing the community project all week, because its fun and challenging and I love hearing other people perceptions.
Rose Delight Body Oil for Marin (amanda peet) in Something’s Got to Give. I couldn’t even think of a perfume for Diane Keaton’s role in that film. One of my favorites films-laugh every time
Afraid to go look at the front of the WSJ, but join in hoping everyone will stay safe.
I love that movie, too. That house is TDF. I can see Diane Keaton’s character wearing Chanel No 5 EDP. It’s a no-nonsense scent that goes perfectly with white turtleneck sweaters 😉
Comme des Garcons 888 — the golden bottle kinda fits with yellow leaves and autumn and all. The warm spicy scent is also very nice this time of year.
I haven’t smelled this one in forever. I think I will dig out my sample and see if anything is left in it. You smell great.
Houbigant Orangers en Fleurs today. I have a cold, so I wanted a big and cheerful perfume even my congested nose could smell. 😉
By the way, can anyone suggest an orange blossom scented black tea, please? With a prominent orange blossom note? I want Orangers en Fleurs/Seville a l’Aube/Sweet Redemption etc. in the tea cup (if it exists). A tea you sampled and recommend. I am not in the U.S., so it has to be an online shop with international shipping.
Have you ever tried Cafè Bianco? It’s hot water, and Orange Blossom water. Sometimes I add a little honey. It’s not a T, or coffee, but it’s a true delight! You could pick up Orange Blossom water at any upscale grocery store, and definitely add any Middle Eastern store.
or you can just add orange blossom water to your favorite tea. I do, I also add rose petals to many of my teas to change the flavor
That’s what I was going to suggest….!
Thank you, Lovestosmellgood, for your both suggestions. I have never seen Cafe Bianco or orange blossom water on sale here (Ukraine), but then I have never looked for them. I will check upscale stores, as you suggested.
Cafe Bianco is just the name of the drink you order at a middle eastern restaurant. Good luck and I hope you find some!
The bottle looks like this(the one I have), hope you don’t mind me posting this Robin
https://www.thewhiskyexchange.com/p/16919/al-wadi-orange-blossom-water-small-bottle
If there is a Mediterranean or middle east grocery that it where I find orange blossom water here in California
The closest I can think of is Kusmi Anastasia, which is basically Earl Grey with a bit of orange blossom added in.
Thanks, everyone! It looks like I found a food grade orange blossom water, so I’ll try it with my tea.
You smell great!
After a WFH day yesterday, I feel like I’m having another Monday. Ugh. Doesn’t help when a manager is up my butt about stuff I can’t control.
I’m in Aedes de Venusta by L’Artisan.
Spritz more perfume! It’s good for you, and perhaps the fumes will keep the manager away.
When I first saw WFH (being a little under the weather, so mentally slow) I thought, “Work from h-e-double L?” Maybe I was right the first time. 🙂
I am wearing Couvent des Minimes Eau des Missions Cologne.
The scents from Couvent des Minimes are so good. You smell lovely.
I am also impressed with the lasting power, normally scents disappear on me in a couple of hours but this one is going strong.
SOTD is Kelly Caleche. The leather note is coming through loud and clear right now and I am loving it.
One of my absolute favorites! You smell wonderful!
Nice! Love Kelly Caleche.
You smell great!
I would like to thanks everyone’s comments yesterday about my coworker’s doubts regarding the purchase of L’Artisan Seville a l’Aube from Lily Direct. I shared all your opinions and experiences with her and she decided to keep the bottle and enjoy it. We found the link that Lovetosmellgood sent very informative. A good reference. You are a great perfume community. Thanks a lot!
Today I am in Paloma Picasso Mom Parfume. An awesome floral chypre with a powdery dark woody base which I really love. It has such a strong personality and that is exactly what I need today. This fragrance and tons of coffee will keep me awake and alive! 😀
Glad we could help!
how is the juice in the bottle? Is she enjoying it?
She brought the bottle today to the office. For me the juice is the same as the one in my bottle, meaning smell and color. For sure nothing is wrong with it. I am very glad for her.
Needed to hit my purse stash this morning since I hate not having perfume on but fortunately it contains L’Ambre des Merveilles
The perfume version of emergency preparedness. 🙂
Wearing Metal Hurlant by Parfumerie Generale today and feeling like the leader of replicants played by Rutger Hauer in Blade Runner (with Harrison Ford). I love that movie.
Blade Runner is amazing.
My favorite movie ever! I like your association.
Excellent film and a great pairing! :^)
Nice one!
I love Chamade, so you smell wonderful! SOTD is Natori edp. I used to have such a crush on Graham Chapman!
Chapman was the maddest of them all. Such a pity he died so young.
Why thank you, and so do you!
I didn’t bother with perfume yesterday since I spent most of Monday and all of yesterday up until about 2:30 removing twenty year old tint from Mr. Minion’s beloved SUV. That’s a job I won’t do again. On the bright side, it will pass inspection now, I’ve covered the Anniversary gift, and he left me alone most of the time because it was hot, smelly, and cramped in there and he wanted no part of it.
Today I’m wafting a hearty spray of Salome, which seems nice and tame because my smeller is numbed from all the ammonia (yes, I was careful but even a whiff of Windex shuts me down). It’s already hot and humid and I expect y’all can smell me several states away 😉
You smell bold!!
I applaud you on the SUV project! It’s a gift itself.
It sounds like you earned your spray(s) of Salomé.
What we do for love. (And an inspection sticker.)
L’Envol de Cartier. Happy Hump Day! 🙂
How are you finding L’Envol? I am really interested in this one.
It is a bit lighter in feel than I had anticipated, but I do like it. I made myself a couple of samples in Nordstrom’s yesterday, will decide later if I want a FB.
Wearing Mon Précieux Nectar. Needed something discreet and comforting for an unpleasant early morning doctor’s appointment. Now safely home and relaxing with tea and biscuits. 🙂
hope all is well!
SOTD: Ellipsis from Derek Lam 10 Crosby
I smell a greenish/spicy floral which to is very much like lily but it apparently is suppose it be a jasmine scent… :/
I’ve got a sample of this but haven’t tried it yet. Is it worth trying? I do like lily…
SOTD is Alahiiiiiiine! So bleeping wonderful.
So gorgeous! I bleeping love that one too
Where did you get it? I have been trying to find a sample, and have been looking in all the wrong places, apparently.
Luckyscent
I looked, too, and ended up getting a discovery set directly from Teo Cabanel for about $11 USD. I think both Luckyscent and Tigerlily have it but only as dab samples, which I prefer to avoid. But the Teo Cabanel set are all dab samples, too, as it turns out 🙂
That was exactly my line of thinking too – avoiding the dabber. But for $11US, I guess I can suck it up. Thanks!
Mine was an ebay find – a nearly full bottle in the older glass presentation. I think I remember someone here (mals, probably) saying she has it in the newer metal bottle and doesn’t think the juice changed.
Wow! Super shopper!
Alahiiiiiine! Like happy golden bells.
Exactly right!
Wearing Le Dix Balenciaga(?), somewhat vintage but I needed nice, pretty and predictable today, another inservice after teaching today. District put on professional development here is really low quality, I wish they would have fewer but would hire a good presenter. (end of grumpiness, I will deeply smell my wrist now)
Good luck making it through the day 🙂
Your wrist smells sweetly wonderful.
I’m also in Dzing! today. Lucky that it plays well in the heat, since it might hit 90 today. We had some really spectacular storms last night, although they were far enough away that I mostly just watched them be spectacular. If I were in New England, I’d call this an Indian summer.
A hearty thanks to everyone who celebrated my good news with me yesterday. I didn’t have time to revisit the thread until this morning, but I really appreciated your good will!
You smell awesome.
Starting the day in Roses de Chloe, because it’s an easy scent and I didn’t have the brain power to think too hard about what to wear this morning. After lunch, I’ll most likely freshen with Lady Vengeance , which I’m starting to think of as Roses de Chloe after she’s been through a really bad break-up; basic personality’s still there, just harder and darker and out for revenge. . . Or maybe I just have an overactive imagination . . .
Haha! I like your analogy.
SOTD Cacharel Noa. I’m in the phase of a cold where my sniffer is unreliable and so I’m inclined to overspray. I went with clean and unchallenging as a service to those around me.
And I’ll practice the film reference: Noa= Tracy in Woody Allen’s Manhattan. Fresh, innocent, but the faint coffee note dirties it up just slightly, because Teacy’s not as innocent as she appears.
Great film! I was thinking of a perfume pairing with Manhattan (another great movie)..maybe woody allen could wear santal 33 like all new yorkers.. 😛
Ha! Yes. But he strikes me as a perfume-phobe.
He wore Canoe in Play it Again, Sam 😉
I really like Noa, and it’s a go-to for me when I want an understated fragrance. You smell lovely!
Thank you! It is very understated which is what I was going for.
Wearing Ylang Ylang Nosy Be, munching on otters’ noses and wolf nipple chips.
I think that’s the only Perris MC I haven’t tried. How do you like it? Better than the wolf nipple chips?????
I made a tactical error when a samples package arrived just after I’d applied the Ylang Ylang. This is a package with about 30 samples to try and pass on, and the inevitable perfume-junkie thing happened… I’m liking something a lot right now and have no idea what it is (OK, that’s the menopausal perfume-junkie thing).
The wolf nipple chips were lovely:)))
Ah, yes. I’ve done that(not the menopause part, yet). If you find the culprit, I’m curious to know which it is.
Elisa, can I send you a sample of the ylang? Easiest if you’re in Europe, but “cosmetics samples” have been known to cross the pond unmolested too… I’m at kaydothennsquigglyfreenetdotde
Chanel No. 19 EDT for me today. I was up way too early this morning and I chose this to keep me going
No 19 is lovely. I have managed to fall in love with the EDT. Took me a little while but I did fall in love. I still prefer the EDP though.
You can never go wrong with No. 19!
Have the day off today and I haven’t taken a shower yet. So I am sitting at my computer, blogging about lip balm, posting my SOTD (this morning’s at least), and wondering what I should wear for after my shower. I’m sitting in Beloved right now and wondering if I should continue on with it after my shower or go the vintage Bal or Mitsouko route.
You really can’t go wrong 🙂 .
Since I wore J. Crew 57 yesterday, I thought I’d go with 31 today.
I went to the mall last night and spent a bunch of money on treatments for my nails (which look and feel terrible after taking off the acrylics from the wedding), bought some new lipstick and some new highlighter. I came dangerously close to buying a rollerball of Philosophy Fresh Cream (I’ve really fallen in love with the lotion), but managed to pull back. Not buying any bottles is starting to feel good!
I enjoy both 57 and 31. Definitely plan to put those back in rotation with the change in weather. 31 is one of those fragrances that people always comment on whenever I’m wearing it!
The project for this week is a good exercise to help me develop my sense of what fragrances represent to me, other than just their note category.
I watched the BBC version of ” Pride and Prejudice” all at once, so I’m putting it in the movie category even though it was a serial in GB. SOTD is Teo Cabanel Lace Garden. I smell green and woods, with the tuberose and orange blossom. Jane Ehle’s Miss Elizabeth Bennett is strong and delicate simultaneously. And, many of the most significant scenes take place in the gardens. Mr. Darcy can’t stop thinking of her scent!
Is that the one with Colin Firth?
I believe I have have binged watched that one as well..
This was back when I had a VCR and tapes and I think the set had 3-4 tapes in the set
Lace Garden is so fitting for that film!
Colin Firth as a child star 😉 . A woman I know dated him when she was an exchange student in London and he was a struggling young theater actor. Now her kids see him in films and ask her about him. Ahhh- another life.
Love that series. Nice scent match.
Thank you.
It’s my favourite version of P&P and Colin Firth is my favourite Mr.Darcy by far.
Absolutely. No question, no arguing otherwise.
I love Monty Python, but am sadly wearing Lumiere Blanche today that doesn’t fit them at all. Although I’m not sure there’s anything in my collection that would fit, to be honest. Something horribly British? Something medieval?
What about Iris Silver Mist, which almost smells like soggy woollen armour, and turnips 😉
You smell great. LB is something that I don’t like for myself, but have enjoyed on others.
Penhaligon’s Tralala comes to mind because of the comic packaging and the irony surrounding the naming.
http://colognoisseur.com/when-it-all-goes-pear-shaped-the-case-of-penhaligons-tralala/
You do smell lovely.
Every time I see the name of that perfume, I hear David Bowie as Jareth in Labyrinth saying “Nothing? Nothing, tralala?” 🙂
And now for something completely different….Lumiere Blanche.
Perfect!
Nothing to do with Monty Python, but I am in Serge Noire, which I like a LOT more since its reformulation: dry spices and a bit of dried fruit at first, then a slow transformation into luscious vanilla with a scrap of leather to keep it from being too sweet.
Hmm, I remember trying it in the past and not being wowed, but this sounds good.
I like Serge Noire. Now I’m wondering if my sample is post-refo, because it’s totally non-scary.
I tried it numerous times in the past, including buying a decant, and never liked it at all: it was very incensey in a way that just didn’t work for me (although the vanilla base was lovely). A couple of years ago I tried it again out of sheer obnoxious stubbornness and bought it on the spot. They really fixed what was wrong with it by make it less incensey but more Serge-y.
“Sorry, I’d do a silly walk but I’m not feeling very John Cleese right now.” one of my favorite modern references to Monty Python. I’m wearing MFK Grand Soir today. I think this one is really lovely, but it seems so similar to several other perfumes that I own that I don’t know I could justify a bottle.
(although I always think of his silly walks in Fawlty Towers as well.)
Yes! Even better.
While I’m really looking forward to eventually trying Grand Soir, I’m equally relieved by the idea that it might not be unique enough to purchase. What did you find it similar to?
Seven Veils, Shalimar, Musc Ravageur, Dries Van Noten. Those are off the top of my head only. I know there are more.
Sample for the Day = CdG Pharrell WIlliams Girl
This is something completely different. Girl is woody, aromatic, peppery. On first sniff I got a tickle in my throat and almost sneezed. There is a cedar note that smells great. Girl could be friends with SJP Stash.
Have a wonderful Wednesday, NST!
I just ran across a sample of this the other day. I should give it another try. (If I can run across it again; I have no idea where I saw it 😉
Diptyque Do Son EDT. Movie: Anna and the King (?)
I’m in Dilettante again, I will be buying a full bottle if it. Oh yes.
But I wish I woukd have worn a “good woody” sounding scent like Dzongkha instead of a “tinny” sounding one like Dilettante, for Monty Python’s birthday. every time I see the word “woody” i think of that skit.
I’m wearing Byredo Oliver Peoples because it seems to me to be a happy scent, and my 7 year old grandson is having surgery on his eyes right now, so I am trying to send positive vibrations to Sick Kids hospital.
When the babies nap, I will dedicate my meditation to positive outcome for your grandson. Breaks my heart when I see any child suffering
Oh! I can’t tell you how much I appreciate this. I just got a text saying he is still in surgery, but I will keep you posted.
Best of luck and minimal tears to him.
Poor little guy…hope he is out quickly and in recovery soon.
Sending positive vibrations as well, and a big hug to you.
Hoping all goes well for him!
Oh, sending more good vibes his way!
Sending more good vibes your way, wishing the little guy a speedy recovery.
Best wishes to your grandson!
Hugs and the best wishes for your little man! I hope the surgery goes well and he recovers quickly.
More positive thoughts being sent for your grandson’s recovery.
Thank you, thank you, thank you all. I just got home from babysitting his sister, and the surgery went well. When he was an infant we were told that he would not see, and probably never walk because of neurological problems. He’s now an “average” 7 year old, a voracious reader who loves to play street hockey. He’s gone through so much and the support of so many, like all of you, has kept or family going. Thanks again.
SOTD Bvlgari Black, perfect comfort scent for the day. Halfway through my bottle and since hearing whispers of it being discontinued am starting to seriously think of purchasing a back up bottle.
I don’t usually hoard but I’m considering too. Luckily I am usually so slow to consider that it’s no longer an option by the time I decide.
I already have two backup bottles and still considering getting another one. Or two…
You smell great!
It’s perfumath-free from Fragrancenet…
Today in Van Cleef & Arpels Rose Velours.
… and I need to find a sample of their Moonlight Patchouli
Wearing Baccarat Rouge today which I sniffed before on paper I think but never have worn…
A very interesting changeling…hard for me to pick out individual notes. I am liking it but it is a hard one to quantify in terms of style…floral, oriental, etc.
I have been racking my brain trying to figure out what this one reminds me of and it’s Pink Sugar by Aquolina which I haven’t smelled in many years. But I am getting a burnt sugar/caramel smell which my brain cross-referenced after chugging on it for a good hour. Brains are pretty good databases all things considered. 😉
Walking through mall department stores last night, that burnt sugar smell was everywhere. Am I oversensitive to it, or is it dominating the perfume world?
It smells like a fruity forest to me. Kind of holiday candle-like.
Cuir de Russie and my tough-girl boots today. My chief weapon is surprise. Surprise and fear.
And ruthless efficiency. 🙂
Love this.
????
Fab!
My SOTM is Beige (thank you Perfumelover67!), which I really think is misnamed–far from being monochromatically elegant, to my nose this perfume is an unabashedly pretty bouquet of wild flowers, sweet grasses, and a drizzle of honey. It also has a bit of a Jujubes vibe going. The scent of those hard, sticky candies that I would vow not to chew because they’d glue my teeth together–and break my vow. I loved them! My favorite movie theater candy of all time. So I think in the spirit of movie theater nostalgia, I’d pair this beauty with Cinema Paradiso.
Beige was my wedding perfume
I can see why. It is such a romantic scent! Perfect for a perfect wedding. Do you wear the edt or the parfum? I’m in the edt, but am curious about how it compares to the parfum.
I was in the EDT
Love the soundtrack…Morricone is amazing.
CK Reveal. Not an overly complicated fragrance, but one that I’ve often gotten complimented on.
I like that one.
Me too???? Thanks!
Bottega Veneta for me today. Sort of. Surprisingly, this had elicited a “strong perfume” comment at work one day so I only wore one spritz today which means of course that I can’t smell it at all.
I’m in Atlanta this week, and apparently 80 is as autumn as it gets here (Charlotte’s probably similar). So I put on Cristalle, which with 6 spritzes (never thought I’d say that) is holding after 1 1/2 hours.
PSA: was in The Body Shop last night, where they had buy 3, get 2 free (most items).
Best of luck to those in the storm’s path.
I love Monty Python! I’ve done my best to Confuse A Cat this morning, had a Silly Walk, and now I’m A Lumberjack in Slumberhouse Norne.
I’ve been trying to establish the average air speed velocity of a swallow.
My son has that t-shirt, and basically, nobody his age has any idea what it means.
But he does enjoy Python?
He loves it! Not the show quite as much as the movies, though.
An African swallow or a European swallow? 😀
You are a king, they are supposed to know these things!
Norne. You smell amazing.
Today I’m wearing SL Chypre Rouge. It has a sweet/savory thing going on that fits my mood today.
I may go with 1969 and where HdP 1969 today. I’m thinking of Julie Christie but no film in particular.
Could it be Darling? A few years early but any film by John Schlesinger is pretty good.
Kanuka, perhaps, but I don’t think I ever saw Darling, so I’m not sure. I remember Julie Christie so well, but I’m not sure what I’ve seen her in, apart from Dr. Zhivago. That would require a more wintry perfume.
Far From the Madding Crowd, perhaps?
Hello, all. I’m sleepy (very bad night) and distracted and I wanted to wear something that would let me pretend I’m Miss Marple, all keen intelligence behind a deceptively gentle face. Unfortunately there is no perfume on the planet capable of effecting either part of such a transformation, so I’m in Santal Massoia, skinny jeans and a cropped silk top, about as far from a Miss Marple impression as I could possibly be. I smell delicious, though: even the dear man says so.
I think I might have recovered from my unexpected fears, uncertainties and doubts about my collection. I can’t stop thinking about Beige in the parfum and #22 in EdeP–Beige in particular is whistling and winking at me. Sigh. I am indeed weak of will and self-indulgent, Donatella. Or, at least, there is every likelihood I will be.
Beige sounds wonderful. And very versatile!
I am really looking forward to trying Beige in EDP. I’ve been wanting a bottle of the EDT but I have a suspicion the EDP will be even better. (Which just about guarantees that I’ll be kicking myself months from now for not buying the EDT when I had a chance…)
I had the chance to sleep in this AM,somI arrived at work around 10:30!Wonderful to drive to work in actual daylight for a change.SOTD!Fils de Dieu de…you know what I’m talking about!Haha! It’s becoming my “happy scent” when I actually feel like crap.Donatella was a SHOCKER yesterday, for me personally, when I realized what I actually(!!!) bought in the last quarter that I had forgotten about.I think we should change the poll name to DoNotTellHer….Happy Week all!X
I was quite gobsmacked when I tallied up the $ I’ve spent. I recently added up what I’d spent on clothes over one year’s time and was equally appalled. In the case of the latter, my goal was to return everything I didn’t absolutely love and ended up with like $1300 in returns. Which gives you an idea of how much I spent over the year on things I kept… 0_0
Haha!I know that feeling!I went “slightly” overboard last quarter though.I’ll try to behave until December…????
I’m wearing Coco today. Nothing to do with Monty Python, unfortunately, but I smell pretty good anyway.
Now go away or I will taunt you a second time!!
????
Oh, I don’t know. “Coco” could be shorthand for the coconuts they used to make the clip-clop horsehoof sounds in Holy Grail. 🙂
But the thing is that coconuts are non-migratory 😉
I’m wearing Mitsouko and pairing it with the film Mephisto based on Klaus Mann’s novel. Klaus Maria Brandauer is brilliant in this movie…the decadence, madness, desperation and ugliness of the time comes through strongly. There are lots of perfume references in the novel, too, which I like.
You smell fabulous!
Moving from the 17thC yesterday to the 18thC today, the film is “Dangerous Liaisons” from 1988 and the perfume is “Dangerous Complicity” from Etat Libre d’Orange.
This looked like such a good match on paper – the Parisian setting for both, the plotlines of scandal and intrigue. Alas, in reality this ELdO is like a 7-year-old’s idea of naughtiness, smelling more of pilfered boiled sweets than of stolen virtue. (In fairness, I’m not sure I really want to smell a perfume based on cynical debauchery, and if I did I have a sample of Secretions Magnifiques somewhere. But you knoiw what I mean – this should have been a more grown-up scent…)
I have tickets to see the play next month. Not being a creative person, I figured I’d wear Dangerous Liaisons when I go see it.
That sounds double fun!
Since DC wore off, I had the chance to try one of my 1ml freebie samples as a SOTE. Sadly I chose Creed “Himalaya”, which smells like the liquid you used to be able to buy to blow bubbles with. Maybe you still can – my idea of a good time has moved on since I was 6. Anyway this is every bit as horrible as those later Penhaligon’s abominations. :^)
Am testing No 5 L’eau and am not wowed, but I really shouldn’t be testing anything right now as I haven’t adjusted to having the heat on and my sinuses and nasal passages are all dried out and I can’t smell too well.
That said, I’m not a big Eau Premiere fan either. I love No 5 but what I love most are the aldehydes.
I’ve really made up my mind on this;No.5 is nighttime and L’Eau daytime,if you want to be a No.5 the whole day.
Totally agreed here – L’Eau for Day!
I just decided we need a NST global convention, like the UN of good-smelling people!
All hail the Dead Parrot Sketch!!!
“It’s probably pining for the fjords.”
[…]
“This parrot is no more! It has ceased to be!…”
SOTD is 31 Rue Cambon, which, as far as I know, has nothing to do with Monty Python. ????
Ah, not so fast. The Cambon brothers were French diplomats / civil servants. Monty Python have civil servants sketches…Ministry of Silly Walks. I don’t know if there are the ‘Cambon’ of Rue Cambon but they did cross the Chanel from time to time…oops, channel.
Nice!
Ha! Oui, they crossed zee Chanel. That’s some good associating! I had to look the brothers up. It seems they were both involved in the Sykes-Picot Agreement? Bit of a bummer for my perfume, that.
I procured a lovely sample of the new Chanel no. 5 L’Eau, and doused myself last night & today.
I’ve gone through a mix of reactions so far. I was disappointed by the projection, but subsequently was surprised by the longevity. Yeah, it takes numerous sprays, but in me stays intimate for a good while.
Tl;dr: i smell good!
SOTD = a couple of sprays from a brand new bottle of Tibetan Mountain Temple. Someone here on NST had mentioned that this smells like gingerbread, and they were absolutely right!
Late to report Etro Sandalo, which I have in a rollerball decant, which I keep thinking I should try with a little sprayer, but maybe this keeps it in check.
Wearing Sisley Eau du Soir today and smelling gorgeous!
I’m very late today. There are two kinds of people in this world, those who love Monty Python, and those who don’t. All the quotes people are posting, have me so tickled. As for my own, ” Help, help, I’m being repressed!”. Sotd was Gucci by Gucci.
That’s one of my favorites! ????
