And Monday rolls around again. Sorry! It's also World Population Day, and Giorgio Armani's birthday. What fragrance are you wearing?
I overslept today but am still dragging. I'm in Paul Smith Story. Tea at the moment is English Breakfast.
Reminder: on 7/15, wear one of your "top 10 of summer" fragrances (unless it's winter where you are, in which case wear one of your "top 10 of winter" scents)
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2016, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
My head feels rather muddled as well, even though I’ve been awake a good 8 hours or so. SOTD is Le Mimosa by Annick Goutal, fun although not great. Tea is a lovely Yunnan.
I have a feeling I will end up muddled all day too…
I’ve since moved on to the best jasmine tea I’ve ever tried. It’s called Jasmin Bi Luo Chun and it’s got floating flowers while smelling like a mix of La Haie Fleurie and A la Nuit. Highly recommended.
Nice! I love jasmine tea.
I have forgotten how this one smells. But it’s mimosa, so cannot be bad, right?
There’s a lot of fruit and very little mimosa. But it’s a nice fun scent. Not their best, not even in their soliflores, but still quite good.
http://boisdejasmin.com/2011/02/annick-goutal-le-mimosa-fragrance-review.html
Vintage Eau de Courréges. No second act, just summery bright-green lemons and limes up top, then hours of sandalwood tinged with oakmoss. Launched as a women’s scent but as unisex as anything you’ve ever smelled.
Sounds pretty fab! Adding to must smell list…..
Enjoying a lazy day off, before it is back to summer-work tomorrow.
My SOTD is Tom Ford Noir pour femme, freshly bought on summer sale, worn it since Saturday. Good deal, great fun so far.
Hope you all have a good Monday NST.
Wow! Where did you find that on sale??
Sampling Sultan Pasha Jardin D’Borneo Gardenia which is rich and beautiful but lies very close to the skin
I’m actually quite awake for a Monday. I guess going to bed early helped (I was exhausted yesterday).
I’m in Copal Azure today. I really like today’s image, Robin.
The images for this campaign are great. Armani — “I want to convey a sense of reality, focusing on how New Normal clothes are designed to accompany everyday life naturally and elegantly.” But the prices are perhaps a little ironic given the name — “a halter with high neck in silk poplin for $1,625 and a $1,475 pair of high-waisted pants with front pleats”, for example.
A three-thousand-dollar outfit is the new normal, apparently. We all should get with the times.
LOL
Totes normal! Basically what I spend in a half decade of clothes shopping, and I love clothes.
???? wow, those prices make me laugh!
You could live like a queen for a whole year in India (food, rent, everything) on $3000. In fact you would be the one percent there.
Wow. Good gravy! I am amazed to hear that. Make you think about so many things we take for granted in the USA.
I’m sure one could live pretty well in many places on what I spend on perfume in a year.
That’s quite laughable. Even the designers must know they’re not getting a large amount of people paying over 1K for a halter top. I’m also amused by what they think this “New Normal” is.
In fact, lots of people will be willing to pay that price – it’s nothing unusual for a luxury brand. Prices have been going up for years. And I guess they don’t really care if people outside the target group think it’s ironic.
Of course, it’s not ‘a large amount’ of people in mass market terms, but that’s not the aim. For those people, there’s Si. Or if they are willing to pay what others consider completely insane amounts of money on perfume – Armani Privee.
Came across a Gucci Guilty sample, so that is what I’m wearing. Trying to stay away from citrus after last week. I may have worn enough citrus last week to last me until…well, at least August.
Citrus wore you out fast! Honestly I could wear nothing else all summer.
I live in Texas, and summer is around for 4-5 months of the year. So, I look for something other than citrus that I can wear. On the other side is the air conditioning. My library staff likes it cold, so I end up being the one huddled in sweaters and drinking hot tea, and wearing fragrances that work best in cooler weather.
Guerlain Aqua Allegoria Lys Soleia – perfect for this hot sunny weather. (Also works for the office, where I’ll unfortunately be most of the day.)
One of prettiest AAs, IMO. You smell lovely.
Thanks! Every summer when I pull it out of storage and spritz for the first time I’m surprised by how much I like it!
I love AA Lys Soleia
Been sampling a bit over the past couple of days; tried the Renegades series, all of which were nice but none of which bowled me over. I liked the Mark Buxton one, but then wore it next to Le Galion Aesthete, which was similar but stronger. I had to have my nose on my skin to smell any of the Renegades. Also finally got a sample of Mugler Cuir Imperteninent, which is quite nice. I haven’t really been too into leathers but liked this quite a bit. It has star anise, which I have used in recipes but I really haven’t smelled in perfume before. I haven’t decided if I will keep sampling (three from Beaufort are next in the line up) or wear the L’Artisan L’Eau d’Ambre I got at TK Maxx.
Was the MB the nicest of the 3?
I liked that one best. I liked the Geza Schoen one and will likely wear it again but it doesn’t seem like one I will want to buy. It’s all about pink pepper and made me think of all the various ways I’ve smelled pink pepper before. The Bertrand Duchaufour was interesting; it’s a woody aquatic. I generally don’t like “aquatic” fragrances but I am going to give that one to enabler husband. They were all skin scents; I really had to press my nose to my skin to smell them.
After some much needed rain over the the weekend, Monday is cool and sunny in New England. This has been a year of weird weather in my area. I am wearing Au Dela by Bruno Fazzolari. So good. I will probably top it off with Cristalle later today because I keep a travel spray in my bag.
“Cool and sunny”- music to my ears. You smell great! ????
Thanks Deva! You smell great too! I’m sure I’d be reaching for CF if I lived in your area.
Wearing Amouage Memoir Woman today. I accidentally ordered the Tazo chocolate chai tea instead of my normal, regular chai. You are better off just buying chocolate milk from the grocery store for a cheaper price.
Scorching. Able to go from boiling to a low simmer with two spritzes of PdE Corsica Furiosa. Yep, I’m a broken record. I don’t seem to ever get tired or bored with this one. Good job, MAC! Still mourning the loss of the 50ml bottles….
I completely understand! If it works why fix it, as they say. Sometimes nothing else will do.
We’re only in the low 70s today… not that I am complaining. We’ve only had one really hot day so far when it reached over 90 degrees. I can’t imagine how hot it is there, especially if it is humid as well. Stay cool Deva!
I’m really looking forward to trying CF soon, I have a bottle of Azemour and adore it, the only other one I’ve tried is Eau Suave, which was nice but too soft and short lived on me.
CF sounds wonderful in the heat!, although I’m beginning to wonder whether we are actually going to get a summer in the UK this year..
Deva, you erode my no-more-full-bottle-purchases-this-year resolution a little bit more each time you mention Corsica Furiosa. I love it — so greeny green and invigorating!
Chanel pour Monsieur. I smell like someone’s dad (no idea why this is a “dad smell” for me since I’m sure mine never wore perfume). I’ve been foggy in the head since yesterday morning and can’t shake it. feels like I’ve just been awakened from a dream and can’t fully wake up and it’s making me a bit anxious.
That does sound concerning but you have posted about doing a lot of physical work in the heat. Maybe you just need to rest for a day or two and drink lots of water?
Sorry to hear you’re not feeling well, but you smell like a very good-smelling dad.
I hope u manage to get some rest, and feel better soon.
Maybe dehydration? Drink up and I hope it passes.
I’m wearing L’Artisan Parfumeur Nuit de Tubereuse again. It’s been my favorite summer perfume since it was released–in 2010. I’m surprised I’ve been wearing it that long because I’m a promiscuous perfumista!
I got mine a couple of years ago and it’s become one of my most used as well. It’s beautiful stuff, and never feels like a wrong choice.
I’m thinking about blind buying a travel spray, I’ve just done that with chasse, which I really like.
T o’ tha moment: triple strength coffee.
Jam: Matthew Sweet Girlfriend. On repeat… eat… eat… eat…
🙂
Mauboussin Homme edt, original formula. Take Caron Pour un Homme and add a HUGE cinnamon note. This is the only way I will ever wear a lavender scent. 🙂 YMMV 🙂
I may have to resort to coffee before this day is through.
That album holds a special place in my heart. I got to see him perform the whole thing a few years ago and it was amazing.
SOTD: Royal Oud (Creed).
I’m in YSL Cinema, and today the blond woods in it are front and center – not a bad thing at all.
My holiday has started and I have just arrived at Tallinn bus station (I took a bus from Riga). It’s much cleaner and more colourful than it used to be three or even two decades ago, but the vibe has not changed that much. I’m eating a cabbage pastry and drinking my favourite childhood lemonade (Austenfan, it’s calld Valge Klaar, White Transparent – after the apple cultivar) for the maximun nostalgia effect.
I’m not always the most considerate of perfume wearers, but if I remember that it’s a good idea to wear something inoffensive when travelling, I often go for Hermes. So wearing Rhubarbe Ecarlate today and most of it is gone by now.
I just noticed there is youtube clip dedicated to your beverage. Does it taste of apple at all?
Estonian does sound a bit like some Scandinavian languages, and I don’t mean Finnish, only I can’t make head or tail of it, and I can understand little bits of Danish or Swedish.
It’s maybe more the way we speak? Because the language itself really is completely differen (as you well know, of course).
Tallin is absolutely beautiful!!
It IS nice! For me, going on holiday means going home, somewhat counterintuitive????.
Scent-free today, but maybe I will go for a tiny smidgen of Yuzu Rouge later. Spent the weekend trying to outlast a stomach bug. MUCH better today, but I’m not going to push my luck. I was hyper-aware of smells throughout the whole thing; the smell of my daughter’s attempt at stir-fried rice on Saturday was…challenging.
Still, it’s all better today, and I am really grateful to feel functional again.
Have a great day, everyone!
Oof. A feeling I know tragically well. So glad you’re on the mend! Good luck with scents over the next couple days!
GLad you’re feeling better.
U poor thing!, hope u feel better soon.
Back from spending 14 lovely days laid out on a beach doing sweet FA in Greece, though thank God I’ve got access to my Fumedrobe again! Yves Rocher’s Neroli for me today.
Glad had some sunshiney summer- I’m beginning to wonder if we’re going to get one in the UK.
I know. We got off the plane here and there was all this wet stuff in the air. What the heck?
It really is an odd lot of weather here!
Bruno Acampora Musc Extrait. I…. am not sure about this. Smells good, yes, but maybe I just don’t like musk after all.
BA Musc is challenging. I have a tiny dabber and can only wear it during the winter.
I think you have the right idea saving it for winter. I’m sure a tiny dabber will last a good many winters, too.
It’s different and probably an acquired taste. I tried it a few weeks ago on a hot day and had to scrub. 🙂
Wearing Lalique Flora Bella today. It’s an unknown gem by Duchaufour which is quite delightful and summery.
I never got round to trying it, although the Guide’s review always kept me intrigued.
Hmmm, interesting!
Robin, thanks for the great non-Pantone image! Now that I know how much more work it is for you to find a good image, I feel kind of guilty about expressing my malcontent, but that really is a gorgeous picture. Though apparently the new normal is being a fabulously gorgeous, incredibly wealthy, white women.
Yesterday’s horrific high of 97 °F has happily been replaced by an overcast 78 °F today. I’ll trade in sunshine for a 19 °F drop. Very unfortunately, I forgot to wear perfume today.
I meant to ask you all what one wears at one’s first real, public concert in 2.5 years, which I had on Saturday, but I was far too busy last week preparing for said concert to remember to ask you. However, I used your previous suggestions of a Chanel for a conference presentation and went with Beige. Which is quite lovely but maybe not really me. But then, when I perform, I’m not really me, either. Regardless, if you’ve got any belated suggestions for my next (Western classical vocal, ie, operatic) concert, whenever that might be, I welcome them!
I am looking forward to no longer working all day and then spending all evening at rehearsal. Whew!
I would want to wear a rose-based perfume if (through some miracle) I was singing in public and people wanted to listen. Une Rose, maybe? Or if that’s too much for a hot summer day, maybe Caligna – it is grounding and uplifting at the same time for me (although not a rose scent).
Being fabulously wealthy would be a very nice normal, would it not? 😉
Think about a light body spray or cologne for your next performance I would suggest something like 4711, The Body Shop Indian Night Jasmine Body Spray or Atlas Mountain Rose body spray or maybe even a lightly perfume lotion? The idea is to fortify yourself without the scent being too much.
You know how they say you should dress for the job you want? I have long thought that you should wear a scent for the mood you want. If I were performing in public I would want to wear something that smells like head-up-shoulders-back confidence. For me that would probably be Mitsouko or Clinique Chemistry, two very different scents that feel intrepid and dauntless: I’m sure you have something in your collection that is the very definition of self-confidence, and I think you should wear that, whatever it is.
Thanks for the great advice, all 🙂 I’ll have to try out all the things you’ve suggested! The only thing I’ve tried so far from your suggestions is Mitsouko (which is not for me). I’ll think about which of my scents smell like confidence to me!
SOTD: Maravilla from Bvlgari.
Simple and light orange blossom fragrance with a hint of sweetness.
I’m sampling Bottega Veneta today. I really like it except for the fruit note. This will not make it onto my shortlist for a leather-based full bottle.
Fruit? All I get from BV is a pretty floral sueded leather.
I get an apricot kind o smell with the suede
Huh, I get apricot from Daim Blonde but not so much BV. My nose is hardly sensitive so who know which nuances I miss. 🙂
I can *kind of* get mild apricot in BV if I really look for it and expect it to be there (which I didn’t before anyone mentioned it) but for the most part, I don’t get much fruit out of it either. Always interesting to see how the same scents operate on different skin.
It’s got a raspberry, or maybe an overripe plum note on my skin. Very fruity, almost jammy. Which is a shame, because the leather underneath is really nice.
My skin really amplifies fruit and sweet notes, so maybe it’s something that most people wouldn’t be worried about. I tried Pulp once and my husband begged me to take a shower because it was too much.
:That’s too funny. I wish my husband liked perfume as much as I do. 🙂
The first time I tried it, it reminded me of Armani Prive Cuir Amethyst, which had a syrupy purpleness to it, which did smell jammy to me. I get it in BV ,but it’s much more subtle to me. And more apricoty. I believe they have the same perfumer (also Gucci Rush). I remember reading he uses the same accord in all of these (Michel Almairac).
And I barely get floral, to boot — just a very soft suede with lots of salty sea spray.
Still super envious of your northern summer (ok, maybe not Deva’s ????). We had storms and hail all weekend and now it’s just cold. (3°C/37°F) All you snow bunnies up there may think I’m a lightweight, and I agree! I may well be, but even my fluffy kitty is huddled in a miserable heap by the heater. Lol.
SOTD Agent Provocateur L’Agent body lotion and perfume. I’ve never noticed before that after the creamy incense, the far drydown smells a bit like L’air de Rein. Yum.
You smell very cuddly!
I am loving imagining your fluffy kitty grumping by the heater <3
I love L’Air d’Rien. An even better reason to finally get my hands on a L’Agent sample. Stay warm!
me too/me too
but I never see the plain l’agent around
Yikes! That weather sounds equally as bad as the opposite extreme we have here. Hoping things get a bit more mild and sunny for you. You smell fab and your kitty sounds adorable ????
I feel your pain. Both my dogs have crawled under the covers of my bed and I am sitting up with my beanie pulled on….Do you want me to send you a nice woolly hat? Sounds like you need one and a pair of Uggs. Anda hot water bottle for your poor cat.
Happy Monday!
A cool grey day today. Am in Tom Ford Noir Extreme(from a sample), which has a minty sort of lightness to the rich vanilla/amber scent.
I brought in a tea bread and fruit tray for the office, and am currently working on a hot au lait with steamed almond milk.
Curious to get your feedback on it. Is it sample worthy?
Re: Tom Ford Noir Extreme: I think it is full sample worthy, and it is definitely full bottle worthy. If you like full, rich scent with rich dosage of sweetness, spice and amber, with powdery, herbally drydown, you may want to give this a try. Amazing on a man and better on a lady, in my very humble opinion.
Yum yum and more yum. Will sample it at Nordies
Every part of this post screams “Delicious” to me! ????
First day at a new job. Broke my usual dressing rule and wearing pants as opposed to regular jeans/Tshirt. SOTD is Sadanne. I know this one is not the edgiest Slumberhouse out there but there is nothing like that (I guess you can say that about all Slumberhouses$
Good luck at the new job! I hope it’s everything you’re hoping for!
Hope today went really well!
Have a good first day!
Goody luck!
Thanks guys for good wishes. Day went pretty well – orientation, sitting down with tech guys to set up. And then I got a call from my sons camp that he fell down (jumping up and down on a bench) and got a big cut on his chin. Not stitch-worthy but still a big cut. Boys!!!
SOTD is a dab (actually two) of Madonna’s Truth or Dare body lotion
SOTD is Santal 33. Although I don’t think I’d classify this as a summer fragrance, I like it so much that it might become my summer fragrance for this year. I won’t ever get the FB, but I’ll be in the market for a pretty big decant very soon.
Nice choice. But I generally like all of the Le Labos
I just put on Songes — this sample seems to have aged well and smells even better than I remember.
Yum, u smell fabulous.
Hi all, Actually jumping in here at comment fifty something today! My samples arrived from the July 4 STC special, and I’m sorry or maybe glad to admit that somehow, I don’t know how it happened, I’ve become a fragrance snob. The last couple days I’ve been trying them. The samples were:
AG Musk Nomade: seemed a bit too patch heavy at first, the there was a short window when I liked it, after which it gave me a headache. I wonder which part of it was headache inducing?
OJ Tolu: I really liked this one but it seemed very faint and a bit short – lived on me
OJ Tiare: This one went on smelling a little like high end shampoo on me, had a brief but spectacular half life and then faded to nothing. I think if it lasted a little longer I would like to get more, but it seems not to. My favorite OJ still remains OJ Woman and if I do get another bottle of OJ it will be that one.
Olympic Orchids Blackbird: I thought I would like it because of all the descriptions that it smells like the Pacific Northwest. Well it was OK, but reminded me a bit too much of a scented candle in a giftshop. My husband said it reminded him of the smell in the lobby of a B&B on the Vineyard. I think it was the blackberry/fruity note in tandem with a vanilla note plus woods.
Well gosh darn, sometimes sampling and striking out makes me really appreciate the beautiful complex perfumes that I already own.
SOTD: Chanel 19 parfum layered with Chanel 19 EDT!!!
Enabler PSA: There are some heavily discounted Diptyque items on Haute Look today. There is a 100ml bottle of Volutes EDT for $62 that I am very very tempted by.
Also, the Armani ad at the top looks to me like a copycat of Nick Nixon’s “The Brown Sisters” series.
Yes it is tempting. Thank you for heads up
Another enabler PSA: Diptyque has 30 ml bottles now!
Is that for everything? I thought it was just for a few travel specials.
I had the same experience with Musc Nomad. Went on nicely, soft and a “your-skin-only-better” smell(I didn’t smell much patch). Then it seemed to suddenly intensify the musk that smelled closest to laundry musk on me and made me a bit queasy.
I highly recommend Narcisco Musc oil for ‘my skin but better’.
Sampling & striking out stinks! I mainly do sampling for new stuff now as I don’t have time shopping all over the place. Plus, the more you smell fragrance the better you do at choosing your samples well.
I overslept too. WAY overslept! However, I think I’m finally on the mend from the nasty respiratory crud The CEO picked up on the plane ride home. In honor of my stargazer lilies budding out (looks like they’ll bloom in a few days), I’m wearing DK Gold. Mmmmm.
Glad you’re feeling better mals. Being sick is no way to end a vacation. Stargazer lilies are beautiful. I used to have some too.
Seconding that mmmm, DK Gold is wonderful. Glad you’re feeling better.
After a very busy week with house guests and all, I am enjoying a quiet day at home by myself, doing cleaning , cooking and relaxing. I am wearing Chanel Eau de Cologne.
The scent seems to suit the activities. Enjoy!
I am looking forward when my houseguest who have spent 3 weeks in my house finally leave. The tally of the visit: I am 3 cases of wine poorer. Glad I had a foresight to buy the cheapest wine I could and plead ignorance that I know nothing about wine. 3 more days and then freedom!! I even have a chosen a good bottle of wine to celebrate.
Trying a sample of Turquoise by Regime des Fleurs. There was a scathing review on basenotes, but I don’t hate it. It smells like a scented candle on me. The beeswax note is the star of the show. I will be interested to see how long it lasts.
Update: didn’t last a full 3 hours. Will revisit, but doesn’t seem to merit a to of attention.
Tauer Rose Delight oil layed with a bit of Providence Perfume Co Rose Boheme. I can hardly stand all the deliciousness ????
I bet that smells awesome! I need to stand next to you today. 🙂
???? Thanks! And you smell pretty great yourself. Au Dela is lovely
Gotta try some of this Rose Delight business…
I find the name so goofy. But it really is delightful business.
And it’s a Monday! Great way to start off the week.
Best not to mess around on a Monday ????
Hey y’all – hope everyone is well!
I’m having some weird lower abdominal pain (yay) and my boss is hoping to get me to do my own work and the job of my delightful, soon-to-be-former coworker, so I’m feeling a little eh about everything today. Trying to stay positive. Thankfully, Cuir de Lancome helps.
2015 was my year of the rose (and let’s face it – I’ll always be a rose girl), but 2016 is turning into the year of the leather.
Lower left or lower right? Lower right could be appendicitis. Either side could be kidney stones if the pain goes into excruciating territory and wraps around the side
It’s on the right, but I’m fairly confident it’s not appendicitis, as the pain is pretty mild and I have none of the other symptoms. But I have a doctor’s appointment tomorrow so we’ll see.
Hope the pain goes away soon, cuir de Lancôme is one of my favourites, glad it’s comforting for u when you’re having a rubbish day too.
I hope it’s nothing. Good you’re going to MD, though.
Feel better. Hopefully everything will be ok.
Cuir de Lancome to the rescue! (and I’m glad you’re seeing the dr. tomorrow :))
That sounds concerning. Hope it turns out to be a minor discomfort. Take care.
Feel better (through leathers?)
Feel better
Had a summer weekend doing nothing much aside from swimming, eating and floating down the river in a boat. Lovely! Today the last warm day before a forecast 3 days of rain, so made the most of it and wore Sel de Vetiver.
That sounds like a perfect summer weekend.
Oh, what a wonderful and perfect summer weekend- you smell like the essence of a summer weekend.
I’ve never heard of World Population Day. Don’t recall any media blitz around it either. Hmm. Seems important nonetheless.
I’m in 31 Rue Cambon today, even though I’m working from home and so is my husband 😉 So far he’s not complained. It’s one of his “old lady scents”. (big eye roll)
Still waiting on my Twisted Lily sample order, and feeling really good that it will arrive today.
I got that same comment from my hubby this weekend while wearing Femme. Loved it too much to care ????
His “old lady” smells great today 🙂
Thank you very much! I think so too!
SODT is Arquiste Parfumeur Flor y Canto. Nice and simple white flower fragrance. It is not as dramatic as Fracas or Carnal Flower. I get some tuberose and magnolia and a light citrus note?that still I cannot identify. Easier to wear and charming. Enjoying it in a beautiful and cooler day here in the Big Apple.
This week I’m skipping the community challenge and instead wearing the Blooms subscription samples for the end of May. SOTD is Phaedon “Pure Azure”, a neroli, jasmine and salt creation. I don’t know, I’m not great with citrus or with white florals, so a combination of the two isn’t rocking my world. And I’m damned if I can smell the salt. :^S
I’m sampling one of the Roses from the lovely AnnE, MPG Rose Supreme, really lovely, i think this would be the perfect summer rose for me, but it is (to my nose) similar to Quel Amour! which I already have & love.
Really want some of that Tauer Rose oil everyone’s talking about!
Rose Supreme is beautiful and one of my favorite summer roses. You smell fantastic!
That is always a nice one.
I’m wearing PPC Divine today. It’s my least favorite of the three I have (the other two being Samarinda and Hindu Honeysuckle), and I think I’ve realized what it is that bugs me about it. It’s the opening that gets me. I realized that it straight up smells like olives. It specifically made me think of the green olives with the pimentos in the middle. I almost scrubbed this morning but decided to wait it out, and now I’m glad I did because it’s pretty nice without the olive note.
You’re braver than I’d be! The idea of an olive opening is just . . . makes me shudder.
L’Occitane Eau de Miel (honey gentle water) today. Kicking myself for not buying this when it was around, because it is long long gone. I was lucky that a friend bought it and gave me her bottle when she moved cross country and was purging things before the move. And it’s her birthday today, so thought I would spritz some in her honor.
What an excellent gift! I remember wanting to buy it for what felt like years; I, too, wish I had
I’ve seen this on ebay for insane prices. I have the shower gel and even that is no longer being made. What’s wrong with these companies!
One of those 30*C days in Poznań today.
I generously doused myself in Aqua Sextius by Jul et Mad. I think it might have made me feel a bit cooler – maybe 27*C 😉
SOTD is Mohur. I’m trying to finish my sample and probably have two days left in it? I’ve found I need to apply quite a lot of it.
I FINALLY have a ton of new samples to try out, and and so ready to find new favorites. Right now I’m wearing Issey Miyake’s Pure, and I like how fresh and summery it feels.
That is the BEST feeling! It makes me excited to wake up and get dressed.
Guerlain Idylle edt for this Monday morning. I actually like it for what it is.
Very pretty!
THat one is nice.
That’s a lovely photo today. (Wait, the models don’t look like they’re all 15. That makes them positively ancient, right?)
The forecasted high today–and most of the week–is 108. Just a normal summer day in the desert. ???? SOTD is AG Quel Amour!
I think they’re all supposed to be supermodels of the 90s? So, not 15 this time 🙂
Morning, NS-Tites everywhere. I’ve had a night of stupid bad dreams–my mother-in-law dressed as Carmen Miranda, for instance, all swinging hips and flashing of eyes! Terrifying stuff! I’m countering the memory with a healthy dose of Ambre Narguile: war gentle spice and soft amber to cut through the nasties. I’m also –for once–dressed a little like a proper lady–well, that is, I’ve gone so far as to wear a skirt and black stockings–because I have to attend A Thing at work tonight. I have to report that I have Very Cold Knees!
It’s my third day of perfume restraint and understated elegance and you can probably hear me sigh from there. Definitely the perfume equivalent of toast without butter. So, a dab of beautiful Cristalle. A fabulous frosty morning scent.
Had a fantastic walk on the hill yesterday. Even though the ground was rock hard and the pond frozen over the bracken and fern scent tunnel gave off its warm earthy, dusty, peanut skin scent. So wonderful.
Is there a reason for this self-imposed ban?
I take it you missed Kanuka doing the perfume equivalent of The Dance of the Seven Veils last week then? :^D
Ha ha. Definitely got my head on the plate today.
I’m like Toad without a motor car
“No!”, said Toad suddenly. “No, I won’t. I’m *not* sorry and I haven’t been silly at all. It was all wonderful! And I won’t promise anything!”
Beep beep!
Yes I did, so I haven’t a clue. If I can find the time I’ll look back through last week’s comments.
Today I’m wearing Chanel No. 19 — body lotion with EDT layered on top!! I love this scent!
Wow that is always nice. What’s the body lotion like compared to the spray?
I find the body lotion softer than the edt. They compliment each other nicely.
I am late to the party today. I spent my morning at the dentist getting a retainer put in for the 5th time (it kept coming out)….so frustrating!
Tried to keep it light and classy today, so my SOTD is Chloe.
Good afternoon, NSTers. I hope Monday is going swimmingly for everyone.
Today is another good day for Jour d’Hermes. It gives me a perfectly happy citrus-y boost and then is quite pretty for the rest of the day.
A cold start to the day here, but not quite as frosty as it is for Kanuka a few hundred miles to the south. A cloudless blue sky is appearing, so we’re in for a sunny day, I hope. I’m planning to go with Parfum Sacré, it has a warming quality I think.
Late commenting today – Aerin Rose de Grasse again today. It feels pretty but more than just pretty and I seem to reach for it lots at the moment.
That is such a nice one! I miss my bottle! You smell beautiful!
SOTD: Vetiver Royal Bourbon by Oriza L. Legrand thanks to an amazing fragrance fairy. The earthy description is apt – this is a mellow, natural smelling vetiver. I enjoyed it, but I did only get a few hours. Will look forward to retesting
SOTD is a generous splash or Rihannas Rogue. Not my usual preference in scents but its quickly growing on me .
