Happy International Yoga Day! What fragrance are you wearing?
With thanks to a very kind perfumista fairy, I'm wearing Lush 25:43. Tea at the moment is Wild Arbor #2, a Yunnan from Tea Trekker.
Reminder: on 6/24, we're doing A House Divided — wear two fragrances from the same house, but don't layer (one on each wrist, or whatever). Suggested by Lisa D.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2016, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
Rozy edp for me today
Found my little sample of that again the other day – SO good. You smell marvelous.
This one is in my top 5 for any season.
Scent twin!!! My favorite Vero
Chamade, extrait de parfum. Tea is a light oolong from Damman Frères.
You smell fabulous!
Mm, Chamade.
i love oolong teas..I have a few
Then I am going to recommend Republic of Teas Milk Oolong….
Oh and if you are interested Twisted Lily has several Providence Perfume Co items on sale, including some of the body lotions…just sayin’ 🙂 ……
Chamade in EDT is already so beautiful, I’m sure you smell perfect.
you smell simply lovely.
<3
Ahhhhh, Chamade is gorgeous. You smell great.
A House Divided:
Cepes Tuberose on one wrist
Palimpsest on the other
Tea is a cappuccino (decaf)
Oh I would much rather have your “tea”….How are you getting on with those two Afteliers? I once made a body oil with mushroom infused olive oil and various essential oils…wasn’t my cup of tea so I gave it to the person who worked in a small shop where I used to purchase my teas and she loved it….to each his own!
I love Cepes, I find it to be earthy and sexy-but I may be alone here…
I ordered a decant during STC flash 20% off sale.
Besides the oils, Cepes is the only one I love and I wanted to order a small bottle but the shipping costs from her are very expensive.
I love hearing about your mixing and oil making! You sound so creative!
yeah I think you either love the mushroom note or hate it…. there is no in between….does it last on you?
I enjoy Cepes as well, but again, I find her stuff just doesn’t last for the price. The perfume version is the way to go on these. I’ve not tried the perfume version of Cepes yet.
Just did a little damage as well with the 20% off 😉
Try Aftelier’s Chef’s Essences, they are really really good. My husband is chef in our house, and he loves them. The cepes one is especially good.
+1 on the Essences. They are amazing
Tea for Two for me today. Giacobetti number two this week. (Did I mention yesterday that I’m doing the Giacobetti project this week because I’ll be in Greece next week. Oh, and the week after.)
Braggart……
J K – enjoy Bob !
🙂
Oh, I’ve not finished yet – don’t fly while Sunday 😉
I’ve wanted to visit Corfu for years, ever since reading a novel set there – we’ll need a full report when you get back, you know. 😉
We go almost every year, it’s one of the greenest Greek islands and very beautiful.
Eventually you’ll miss Giacobetti and you’ll have to come home 😉
Well, Giacobetti will be worth coming home for, especially after a fortnight of Rituals…
No place can beat Greece. Have fun!
Oh oh oh… Greece. Well, I’m going to Harry Potter’s Wizarding World on Sat with my 13 year old and 60,000 other people—to drink warm weird Butterbeer in the heat, and to buy a very expensive plastic magic wand that won’t work.
What could possibly beat that?
Sounds like fun ????????
Magic wands that won’t work are the worst. My boy wanted to turn his sistter “into other things, I dunno, maybe a duck”, and was very disapointed he could not. Hope there is some alcohol in this beer, at least!
Oh! international yoga day! and I am going to yoga tonight 🙂
I am on day three of a House Divided with Atelier’s Jasmine Angelique (reminds me a bit of Jo Malone’s Jasmine & Mint) and Atelier’s Musc Imperiale (why am I getting coconut when that note is not listed?)…liking them both and they are still perceptible after three hours on my wrist…
Tea is North Wind Lavender Farms Lavender Earl Grey…the lavender is really prominent and I am loving it 🙂 !!
Happy Tuesday , y’all!
I am going to yoga tonight too. I say that more often than I really go, but Tuesday I usually actually go.
I think I might need Bear’s triple strength coffee for it is a late class 🙁
Could you describe the Atlier Jasmine? I’m not familiar with the Jo Malone
https://nstperfume.com/2015/10/01/atelier-cologne-jasmin-angelique-fragrance-review/
leaving that to the expert above-LOL!
Honestly to my nose it is very sweet with a bit of a bite (similar to what the mint does in the Jo Malone)…the jasmine isn’t overdone and I like how it is combined with the angelica…angelica is an essential oil I have worked with and like very much….Hope this helps….heaven knows I can’t dissect perfume like an expert!
http://www.edenbotanicals.com/products/essential-oils-pure-therapeutic-grade/essential-oils-a-b/angelica-root-co2.html
and some info on angelica….it is described as “peppery” that must be the “bite” I am getting…
and shame on me for looking at the Eden website for I see that they now have frangipani……
Thank you for the information. I have almost blind bought this one a couple of times. It really seems very nice.
I would recommend getting a sample first!
I gave my decant of JA away, it didn’t work for me 🙁
My next batch of 4160 Tuesdays samples (yes, this again) arrived from Canada and included Ealing Green and Lady Rose Lion. Ealing Green is a cool, thyme-heavy citrusy floral. Very pretty and green.
But Lady Rose Lion! This is something else. It has a topnote I can only describe as medicinal blackcurrant gummies. And then it dries down to peach, rose, jasmine, and oakmoss.
I swear I’m not affiliated with this line in any way. I’m just really enjoying these samples. 🙂
I’ve only tried one of these, but I’ve been wondering if they all tend towards sweet?
Absolutely not! Evil Max is a bitter, dry Chypre, Time to Draw the Raffle Numbers has an acrid Tarmac note (yes, Tarmac!) and Shazam is a very non-sweet, spicy oriental…
Agreed. There are several non-sweet ones. I wouldn’t call either Lady Rose Lion or Ealing Green sweet.
I was underimpressed with most of the 4160 Tuesdays I tried, but I liked Lady Rose Lion. Good stuff.
Have you tried Dirty Honey ? A fabulous honey/beeswax/labdanum mixture. A skin scent, and slightly naughty.
I have a sample and the first sniff scared me a little! Have to give it more time.
The Dreamer Versace.
Tea:: triple strength coffee.
Don’t judge ! LOL
No judging here! We all have those mornings!
Who would judge? I’d take a nice triple strength coffee if I could!
and I would join you.
I do triple strength a couple of times a day! Coffee is very good for you.. so the latest research says 😉
That may or may not change tomorrow.
Good to know !
Being of Italian heritage, I think they kick you out if you are coffee averse. (Should I have hyphenated that? Anyone know? )
😉
triple-strength coffee (a compound adjective before a noun )
…if you are coffee averse (compound adjective following a noun)
I think that’s the rule. Well, let’s just say it’s how I do it.
I am a grammarista; Kanuka gets the A+.
My iPhone spell check accepted it but I don’t trust a spell-check / auto-correct that turned Cuir into Cuirass.
It must just be the medieval version of spell-check that believes more people will want to write about cuirasses- the leather armory vests that were worn for protection. I now picture my leather bottles of perfume wearing them like MPG’s Cuir(ass) Fetiche 🙂
Interesting,
Thanks Kanuka and hajusuuri.
I just made it up
I wanted something light and random grabbed Cedrat Envirant from my Atelier sampler. Unfortunately it’s projecting a bit too much for me and feels really masculine today. Will probably give it to my son!
Oh I love that one and considered a full bottle either for myself or my nephew…it is addictive and refreshing simultaneously!
I keep meaning to try that in the shower gel. I know hajusuuri is a big fan.
I love it! I may have to get another bottle of the shower gel to replenish. The consistency is definitely more watery than the Orange Sanguine. I also have the Rose Anonyme shower gel which I will start using soon!
I love Cedrat Enivrant especially in hot and humid weather!
Wasn’t able to respond to all the comments yesterday about my trip and such, so just went back to do so now.
Today is Bottega Veneta, which is fast becoming my go-to. Eau Suave and this one are my “no time to think, just going to spray” scents, both of which make me very happy.
You guyyyyys – I am so excited for my trip!!!! Having difficulty containing my giddiness about it.
Where are you going?
After a few days in San Francisco, I’m driving solo down the California coast, and then eventually ending up in Los Angeles and San Diego.
I read the last couple of days posts today- your trip sounds like a fantastic way to enjoy summer. I hope you have a brilliant time! 🙂
Thanks Perthie!
Sounds awesome! How can you not be excited?!?!
Indeed, I cannot not be. 🙂
Sounds lovely! Have a good time (and try to stay cool as you move southwards).
Thank you! I shall try.
That sounds like a fantastic trip! Have fun!
Thanks Sweetgrass! Good luck with the house!
And I’m excited for you! If you have time, Tiger Lily in The Mission is supposed to be fun.
Weather here is hot right now, even more so in So Cal. But….especially on the coast, nights can get foggy. You never know… Check the high and low, SF can be flat out cold if the fog comes in.
You will love it! As you drive in LA, be sure to listen to Sheryl Crow All I Wanna Do. It is a perfect song for LA traffic….
All excellent tips, especially about Sheryl Crow – thank you! My driving is going to be during the day, so that should help.
Your enthusiasm is contagious! I hope you have an awesome trip!
YAY!!!! I love the pacific coast highway! I am so jealous
Have you been to SF before? Just in case you haven’t, bring a sweatshirt or a warm shawl (sprayed with some beautiful scents of course!) I am so excited for you!
Have a wonderful time!!
Thinking of you as my dad returned the “borrowed” bottle of Attar de Roses…..COMPLETELY DRAINED…but it looks so beautiful on my dresser and I can still smell its rose-y sweetness from the cap 🙂 !!!
have a safe trip!
BV is a perfect go-to.
Your trip sounds wonderful. I hope you have a great time!
BV – always good, all of the time!
I’m in NV Mohur today.
You smell fabulous dear.
Hey Twin, you smell beautiful today!
One of the best!!!
I am debating between Nasomatto Nuda today or Shalimar. It’s a little cooler today than it was yesterday. It was funny here in Cleveland yesterday. People waiting hours for the Plain Dealer newspaper. You would think that people were waiting to buy the Hope Diamond.
It was crazy! Fun to see everyone so excited though. Curious to see how many people show up for the parade tomorrow. It sounds like they’ve already shut down most of downtown!
Sniff
I’m in Marlowe today which I thought was an easy scent=good for work. My husband said it smells like leather and tobacco and I’m hoping that’s not what I’m radiating at work today.
I’m also scented by a generous perfume fairy today — in Kenzo Parfum d’Ete! It smells fabulous.
That’s a good one.
Ditto!
I’m in HEELEY L’Amandiere and it’s all Elisa’s fault that I’m getting perilously close to buying a full bottle. LOVE this stuff. It’s really too pricey for the longevity but it’s utter perfection.
Like Robin and Elisa, I’m in a scent gifted by a wonderfully generous perfume fairy – Dior Gris Montaigne. Wow, so beautiful. I keep investigating a FB, choking on the cha-ching aspect, and going back to being very grateful for my decant. 🙂
So many perfume fairies!
Ninfeo Mio for me today, and tea throughout the day will be an iced Yunnan from Upton that I brewed yesterday.
Lubin Idole today. I’m ready for fall.
Good stuff!
It is unique, I think – all the spices I love for cool weather but sheer enough for heat. And good lasting power besides.
I’m going to have to dig an 8ml decant out of one of my makeup bags. I got that one fairly early in my perfume journey. The decant since I don’t have a full bottle.
I’m in an Hermes mood this week. I’m wearing Un Jardin Sur le Nil
I’ve been wearing lots of Hermes lately. Today’s selection is Jour.
I have a mini of Un Jardin sur le Nil. I almost gave it away. The green mango set my teeth on edge the first time I tried it. But I sniffed it a few days ago and found it has improved with time, or perhaps if I am lucky my nose is improving with age. I need to wear the scent again this summer, it might be perfect for a warm day.
Trying to use up samples and decants but I felt a bit *too* masculine today in TF Oud Wood, so now that Im home from work and all cozy I’ve doused myself in ELdO Divin Enfant.
SOTD is Acqua di Parma Iris Nobile EdP again, thanks to Ann S. and it is official, I’m smitten and have something to discuss with Donatella.
I got Lucky Scent’s set of iris samples, but Iris Nobile was not among them. I tried Iris Cedrat and Delrae’s (forgot)–two very different irises–and found them both wearable. But I need more time with them. Glad you are enjoying your iris so much.
I have a lot of iris (28 La Pausa should you wish to try it, just let me know) and this one has mimosa, ylang, orangeblossom and soft tuberose as well, so it is more a yellow iris than a blue one. Happy to share!
Fortunately the hot spell broke… Back to the mid 20’s. Cologne pour le Soir.
Today is my birthday, and the weather is just perfect. Nothing planned, just working and hoping my daughter does well in her summer program. My official birthday perfume I bought is Miss Dior Le Parfum. I wore that yesterday, so sotd is MJ Decadence.
Happy happy birthday Lillyjo!! I hope it’s wonderful!
Happy Birthday Lillyjo! I tried Decadence the other day and enjoyed sniffing the blotter for the rest of the day.
I know it gets a bad rap, but once it has settled on my skin it smells delicious to me.
Happy Birthday!
Happy Happy Day!
Happy birthday !!
Happy Birthday Lillyjo????
I like your birthday perfume choice!
Congrats on your birthday bottle, and hope it is a wonderful day!
Happy birthday!
Have a wonderful Birthday Lilljo and a relaxing day!
Thanks everyone!
Happy birthday!
Enjoy your bd and your present!
Happy birthday to you!
Happy Birthday! Enjoy your day!
Happy birthday, Lillyjo!
Got bumped from our Hawai’i flight yesterday (mechanical problems) so spent the night in Denver. No chance for shopping as we’re headed back to the airport now… In Tommy Girl for the long flight.
Ugh – so sorry Mals!! I hope they provided some kind of compensation for you. Hope that the trip makes up for it!
They did! They put us on the same flight, next day (today), compensation including $20/person food vouchers, a hotel room, and a $900 flight voucher. Sounded like a great deal to me since The CEO doesn’t have to present at the conference at U Hawaii until Thursday.
At least they found the problem while it was still on the ground! Hope take two is all good and have a fantastic trip Mals!
Good luck with the trip, mals! I’m so envious – Hawaii is the perfect vacation spot, imo.
Travel is challenging, but Hawaii! Have a wonderful time!
It really is gorgeous! I’ve been there before, five days in 2007, but we’re going to spend a few days in Kauai after the conference this time.
Thank goodness for conferences, or I’d never get to go anywhere… 🙂
Jealous! We honeymooned on Kauai and stayed at other times. Hanalei is my little slice…. By the way, if you haven’t checked it out, Island Soap and Candle Works has some nice products. I LOVE the plumeria floral mist for out of the shower.
Thanks for the tip!
Hawaii!!! My dream trip. Have a wonderful time!
BUMMER! You will get there soon enough. I love Hawaii! Amazing place
*Waves from Denver*
Hi!
Have a great time in Hawaii !
Beautiful place, that’s where my husband and I went for our honeymoon 26 years ago. I’d love to go back one day.
Ugh. Hope you make it there without a hitch. I’ll go with you in spirit@
Hope Tommy Girl is good company.
I like it. I mean, it smells like nice shampoo, but I find that concept pretty nice on a long flight. 🙂
Wishing you a super relaxing Hawaian trip, with no further issues of any sort.
Wish I could stow away in someone’s luggage. It’s a tough decision between Hawaii or Greece. Have a wonderful time!
Oooo. Bon voyage! June should be a great time to be in Hawaii.
Testing Buterbaugh’s Celestial Jasmine today and nope! now testing Buterbaugh’s Lily of the Valley as well. The Jasmine is fresh ‘n fruity, lots of white musk, a bit shrill. Reminds me of something but don’t know what. Lily of the Valley is thus far quite reminiscent of Coty’s Muguet des Bois which is a billionth of the price. Dare I add on the Violet as well?
Just did… 🙂
Ha! You must smell like a lovely living bouquet! 🙂
Oh I have really really wanted to try his scents. I am having a bona fide case of schadenfreude at your experience of the jasmine. Bah! At leasssst I won’t have to suffer so 😉 Lucky me?
Misery loves company, OF! They’re yours if you want ’em. I don’t know if I still have your address, so please email me: harukirumi att yahoo etc.
Agh! Did I say schadenfreude? I meant mitfreude (I had to look that one up)! Emailing you.
Violet was the only one I liked after sniffing the scent cloches (I don’t know shat they’re really called but they are little glass domes sprayed with perfume). Overall meh and $$$ saved and with the savings, I can buy stuff for perfumath free!
L’Air du Désert Marocain, which is, as always, perfect.
I realized, as I was craving something woody, that whatever bath products I use color my fragrance desires for the whole day. I’ve also realized that I have a number of hair products that, for some reason (rarely because they smell particularly similar), remind me of a scent that I end up not being able to get out of my head for weeks. I think that explains why Musc Maori has been in such constant rotation.
You smell fabulous! I also choose my shower gel wisely otherwise it can get me onto another track from what I wanted to wear that day.
Yuzu Rouge from a sample. I really like it, but it could maybe do with a little more assertiveness. Hard to tell when working from samples.
Have a great day!
This one sounds like a really nice option for a summer scent wardrobe.
Going to yoga this evening! Wearing Issara by Parfums Dusita, thanks to the generosity of the brilliant Ploi Uma. It smells of grass and trees and is somehow fresh and just a little sweet at the same time. This house is fabulous!
I can’t wait to try the Dusita line! I am absolutely beguiled by the backstory.
SOTD is Secret d’Essences Neroli. It is a refreshing , slightly bitter at first, but drys down sweetly floral and nice. Unfortunately, it does not last on my scent eating skin. I put it on at 7, and it’s not even 11 and I can hardly detect it even with my nose to wrist. Of course, the fact that something died in my boss’s office (probably a mouse), which is only 10 feet from my cubicle, definately over powers any fragrance I have handy (tried Lysol, that just covered it for a few minutes). Maintenance came up, looked around, shook his head, and left. WTH??? Am re-applying now.
Ewwww. Spray away, I say!
Dead mouse, uggo. I hope they can locate and dispose. I love YR Neroli – it’s quite tart and spicy on me – actually one of my favorites and I use it a lot in the summer. Very high quality stuff for a good price. So good that you can spray a lot without guilt. You smell great today!
People keep commenting about that one – sounds like a
must- try for a lover of neroli like me.
I have two Neroli fragrances, the Yves Rocher and Annick Goutal. I love neroli and love them both, but admit that the lower price of the YR makes me love it even more.
UGH! So sorry to hear about a dead mouse in your work environs. They reek horribly, especially in summer.
Cognoscenti samples arrived and I dove straight into No. 16, Tomato Leather. I am especially fond of leather perfumes, and this one is unusual, a bit light and cool so far. I really like it.
That sounds like an interesting one.
It really is. I’m not finding it long lasting, but then I did go walk outdoors for 20 minutes in this heat. I’ll have to spray more later.
I was interested in that one for the Tomato leaf..is it prominent?
It’s important, but the fragrance comes across as leather rather than tomato leaf.
thanks for the info…I would be more interested in the tomato leaf rather than the leather…so I think I will pass on trying this one 🙂 !!
Ooh! I’ve been so tempted to get that set! I hope you’ll report back on the others as well.
My SOTD is Marchesa Parfume d’Extase, and drinking a cup of White Tea, Blueberry and Elderflower from English Tea Shop.
It’s hot, humid, and stormy out there today, so I’m wearing vintage Jacques Fath Green Water– lemony-minty-herbal and very cooling.
Same ugly weather here. Yikes!
Oh, but it’s cold, very cold. So it’s double yikes here!
Cold humidity = *shudder*
Vintage Armani. It feels so sleek & chic, why won’t they release it again like they did with the masculine, oh, why??
Sigh. I would love to feel sleek & chic!
What is it like?
It’s a green floral, but a dark one, a rose caught in the middle of an arabesque of no nonsense notes. Galbanum? Labdanum? I know it’s big, warming, distinctive and somehow very austere. Wears like I expect an Armani black coat would. Even I can’t wear this in the heat, though, it just makes no sense with summer clothes. Total perfumista bait, nothing like what they currently sell. Heck, I should have sent you some!! (The bottle is thin and tends to fall, so it lives in the back of the closet…)
(Crazy about my samples, but still hopeful.)
Heck of a rotten commute today – full hour on the subway with a coughing women next to me and super heavy bags standing the whole way. Some days…
But at least I smell good in Cuir de Lancome.
And a dear colleague brought me in a black & white cookie to enjoy later with my triple strength coffee. 🙂
You smell very good!
Such a wonderful scent! Thanks!
Maybe the worst of the day (even the week!) is already over. And you smell great.
Sweet colleague. Hope that made up for the nasty commute (which train? The 6 was fairly awful this morning). All I got from my colleague today was a bunch of hostility and snarkiness. Grrr.
2/3 trains..
Work environments can be the pits some days. I’m always grateful for nice colleagues.
Sorry you’re getting the hostility and snark! Spray on some more perfume!
Spray on some more perfume! The solution to everything. Hear! Hear!
Good idea!
You’re a wonderful person Elisa. I can’t understand why your colleague is so rude. Jealousy?
Awwww. You’re very sweet. I don’t take her personally. She’s very judgemental, always thinks she’s right, and has a very short fuse. It’s not fun though. I used to get into it with her, but now I literally just walk away.
Aww. Sorry to hear that. It seems like there’s one in almost every workplace. Walking away is probably best. Hope she calls in sick today. 🙂
Ugh. That’s tough but you smell wonderful. On the bright side, you don’t have to be on the 6 every day….
Preach. That line is enough to make me want to switch jobs.
You smell better than good! You smell great! ????
Hope your day got better! You smell maaahvelous darling.
Yikes! This is why I tend to avoid the subway and thank goodness I have a choice.
Fleurs de Sel by Miler Harris here today.
Nova Scotia is expecting thunderstorms X 10 today, and this scent is perfect for cutting the humidity.
You smell great and set for the weather!
I think I tested this 5 or 6 times before I finally realised that no matter how weird this one was, I was addicted.
Sampling Vero Kern’s Rubj in the extract today. The EDP was bad on me but this is divine.
I had the same reaction to those two forms of Rubj (haven’t tried the voile d’extrait yet)
I like both, but I like the extrait a lot more!. Angela reviewed it once on this blog and mentioned “ravaged ballerina’s”.
Yeah, the passion fruit turned it stanky on me. Extrait and voile d’extrait are gorgeous though.
Trying Sweet Morphine today and listening to the song by Gaslight Anthem… 😉
Sweet, smooth lilac w/ some powder and a bit of vanilla. The first I have tried from this house…”house” makes me think about GOT…one more episode left!…but I digress…
I am enjoying it. It well-blended and perfect for warm weather.
I’m a fan of Sweet Morphine! I hope you’ll let us know how you get on with the rest of the set you got.
I’m starting to covet that. I just missed a 20% off STC coupon and might have gone for a large sample.
LizzieB, you can find a decently priced authentic travel spray on ebay on occasion.
Thanks!
Mmmm good. I am considering splitting this and will find the best price for the 100 mLs likely in September at Bergdorfs.
SOTD: Puredistance White. I’m always relieved when something expensive doesn’t speak to me. This is very pleasant, but that’s as far as our relationship goes. And it’s from a free manufacturer’s sample, so I get to feel extra smug about wearing it and experiencing only mild interest..
I still haven’t tried any of that line. Goodness, I’m soooo far behind! Oh well!
Trying to keep up with perfume is a bit like trying to keep up with books, I think! I’ve only tried White, and only because it basically fell into my lap. The line is too expensive to be of urgent interest. 😉
I’ll hook you up with White. I have manufacturers’ samples and also have the travel spray. Love it and was complimented on it at work – two of my co-workers kept coming over to sniff me 🙂
I totally agree that that is a satisfying feeling!
It does sort of gird up one’s sense of taste, doesn’t it?
Continuing the dramatic saga “Diors of our Lives: A House Divided”.
In the previous episode, bland-but-vacuous Dune, possibly suffering from lack of focus after a facelift (reformulation) went wrong, foolishly permitted Eau Noire a supporting role. Everyone loved Eau Noire and Dune was fired for his pains.
In today’s episode, rich and self assured Eau Noire (somewhat reminiscent of Amouage Sunshine) has taken controland done very well for herself. Now she’s planning her succession and hoping to hand over to her brother Granville. But Granville has made rather a mess of his supporting role, smelling like a mixture of antiseptic and Brasso. Eau Noire is hanging on as long as she can (really this one has great lasting power), but tomorrow Granville will take control and unless someone comes up with a plan there will be a frightful stink!
Tune in tomorrow to see how this terrible crisis is resolved (or not).
🙂
You know, this made me think that a perfume March Madness might be kind of interesting.
Just now seeing this and YES! Let’s do this!!
????????
When did Dune get a face lift? It is that obvious? Such a shame. He was so pretty when he was young.
I don’t know when Dune got a facelift, but for my two cents, it is still unequivocally Dune. Maybe a little softer, and no longer lasts for three days.
Good to know. Someone else here also said the current version isn’t that different. I’m very happy with Dune as it is and now I don’t feel the need to buy expensive older minis on ebay!
That was my impression as well, but I may not really remember the good ol’ days of Dune…
Sounds like Dune and Granville should have auditioned for Scrubs.
????
Excellent!
This is fun! You are very creative.
I am wearing Eau de Magnolia today, relaxing day with my daughter, going to see a fashion exhibition at the museum.
Classy. Enjoy the museum! Going to museums with my mother are some of my favorite memories.
Wore this yesterday. I find its longevity excellent. Such a gorg scent in the spring/summer!
The Italian one at McCord? I went to that Saturday, it was nice.
Yes, the Italian one. I am back and it was nice. Audrey Hepburn’s dress was stunning.
I love you, Tuesday. Monday, you were a beast. The heatwave in the SW US has broken, and a sample of Muguet Porcelaine from STC arrived in the mail. It was time to change up the sniffing.
I’ve worn MP for two days. So far so good. Very good. For me it smells like LotV with the right floral-sweet-green-tart combination. I had lily of the valley growing in front of my house for many years and the perfume brings back the scent for me really well.
At the same time it feels like the muguet is doing a delicate dance with a refreshing airy-sweet impression of something else. Perhaps it is the melon note that has been commented on.
I like MP and probably will keep wearing it until my 1/2 ml sample is finished and then wish for more.
JCE/Hermessences Fangirl Scorecard
Hermessences Yes: Ambre Narguile, Iris Ukiyoe, Muguet Porcelaine, Vanille Galante
Hermessences No: Brin de Reglisse, Osmanthe Yunnan, Rose Ikebana
and that leaves six more to try. I’m a happy sniffer. 🙂
I don’t like LOTV. Do you think Muguet Porcelaine is light enough to not smother me?
Muguet Porcelaine comes on a bit strong in the beginning then runs its course quickly, so I don’t think it would smother. And it has a nice balance between the lotv and the “dewy green” note so it isn’t cloying.
I started the day in Chanel No 18 – one of the exclusifs that I don’t know well. But my bottle of Moon Bloom has just arrived, so I’m going to douse myself with it immediately.
I think it’s easily the most unusual of the Exclusifs, I’m never quite sure whether I like it or not.
Moon Bloom is just lovely, I’m sure you smell great by now.
Agree about 18. I liked enough the first time I tried it to order a decant, but subsequent wearings didn’t do it for me. A bit to sour for me-like a pickle kind of sour.
You smell great, on both counts. I didn’t like 18 the first time I tried it but ended up using the sample up and by the time it was gone, was sad. Not quite enough to buy it but did come around.
Moon Bloom, on the other hand, is a delight from first meeting!
Good morning (afternoon?) to y’all!!
Back from vacation….Had an AMAZING time at the Grand Canyon, Petrified Forest, and many other places all over Arizona! 🙂
SOTD: Daisy Dream. Easing back into work and reality…..
So glad!! Sorry you had to come back.
I’m so glad you had a good trip! Did you happen to visit any of the archaeological sites here, too?
We put 1600 miles on the rental car! LOL
1. Arizona Desert Museum (Tucson)
2. Saguaro NP
3. Canyon de Chelly
4. Dinosaur Tracks (in the Navajo Nation)
5. Sunset Crater

9. In & Out Burger, and Blake’s Lotaburger! HA HA 🙂
D600 from my office kit.
I have to open my bottle! You smell nice!
Wearing Ivoire, which is working out as a nice office scent. So glad I wasn’t seduced by its great price and then couldn’t wear it too often, or at all.
Testing ELdO Hermann something something this morning. I do not like this. Maybe I’ll switch to Like This, which I like.
More likely, shower then back to tackling Eau des Merveilles.
You’re in good company; Hermann didn’t work for me either
I think Herman is nasty, and I don’t say that lightly as I try to be positive about perfumes so as not to hurt their feelings.
lol, I’m the same way.
Eau des Merveilles is especially wonderful in the summer though I love it all year. Enjoy!
I am currently scent less – when I went up to Baltimore I didn’t know how long I would be gone, and I loaned my perfume collection to a friend so someone would be enjoying it. (Kind of like cat-sitting, but with perfumes.). I’m meeting her for coffee and getting my perfumes back, so I saved myself for some favorites that I’ve been missing. Scent of the day will either be Hiris, Musc 25 or Lonesome Rider.
Oh my goodness, what a great idea to loan out perfume for an extended time away.
She’s just starting to get into perfumes, and was about to place a massive sample order. My collection isn’t huge (9 full bottles and approximately 150 samples), but I thought she might enjoy playing around with my perfumes and not having to invest a fortune in samples that I had already purchased.
That was very generous of you.
Serge Lutens Fleurs de Citronnier
Hi all,
Can anyone recommend a good Floris soap? I got Stephanotis for my birthday and thinking of exchanging it for another scent – it’s a little too sharp/green for me.
Also, what are some good Gardenia perfumes?
I tried spraying a little Indochine last night to see how it performs in the heat/humidity and immediately noticed a camphor/cherry cough syrup not that really blooms in the heat. It adds more interest but I’m not sure if I want to smell like that.
SOTD: Sandalwood oil till after clients, then who knows? Trying to use up some of my decants and samples, probably something floral.
If you don’t mind me sounding like a broken record I am going to recommend Dame Perfumery Lime, Gardenia & Benzoin (fresh and light) or Dame Perfumery Gardenia Soliflore (which is really heady and creamy to my nose).
How about Jour de Hermes Gardenia or VCA Gardenia…but the Dame soliflore gives a lot of bang for its bucks.
I will second the Dame one – gardenia, lime and benzoin. My sister gave me a sample, and I have it on today. I love gardenia, and this is more fresh than lush. Not great lasting, but I’m still smelling it a few hours later after spraying…
Oh thank you! Next stop, the Dame website.
Hi all, my boss and his girlfriend, with whom I share a office, are in there having a tearful discussion about something. Ugh. Take it home, guys…
Other than that, my day continues to improve. Now I get to go to a meeting for two hours, and then leave early to go home. SOTD = Iris Poudre, one of my favorites. Tea of the day is a Celestial Seasonings Ginger and Tumeric, which is milder than you would think, very tasty with a drbble of honey added, and medicinal. It keeps me awake and is helping with worn out joint pain. Appreciating the simple things in life is such a pleasure.
You smell terrific! I hope your boss is not the girlfriend’s supervisor. Even if he isn’t, it seems wrong to have an overt office romance.
They were colleagues, not working on the same projects at all, just in the same workgroup. Then he got a big promotion and is the head of the entire team. It’s really a problem. He can’t be her supervisor, but she has a dozen years seniority on him, and is resisting being shuffled off to somewhere else. They are supposed to be getting married in August. I don’t know what will happen, but it is a mess.
Avoid getting involved with someone at your office. Almost never turns out well.
Ugh, maybe there’s a reasonable explanation and maybe there isn’t for why a man would get a promotion over a woman who is 12 years senior in the same workgroup.
Anyway, I do have my vintage Parfum Sacre now and will send you some as soon as I get some decanting supplies!
I was about to say the exact same thing!
I have to think back as I’ve been with the same company since Instarted mumble mumble years ago and I have seen many people come and go. The office romances I recall involved a guy cheating with chickie #1 and then cheating on chickie #2 while he was cheating with #1. There was amid and a pregnancy (chickie #2), a divorce, a marriage, a divorce. Oh the drama!
Ugh, bad phrasing! Basically, he cheated on wife and chickie #1 with chickie #2 whom he married, had a son with, and divorced.
SOTD = Chanel 31 rue Cambon
I wanted to smell elegant, sophisticated and confident and 31RC fits perfectly!
Wendysue, I eesponded to your questions yesterday as a reply to my comment since the thread hit the maximum reply level.
You smell gorgeous, 31RC is top shelf.
Thank you, my dear!
Heh, I love it that a perfume conversation thread hit the maximum.
One of my gentle self-improvement goals for the summer is to revisit 31 Rue Cambon and Bois des Isles. I found them both compelling but difficult to understand when I tried them more than a year ago. Time to get out those samples.
I noticed a few threads reaching their max and a good number involved Chanel and the swirling rumors.
As to 31RC, it did not grab me for years – I have a tendency to re-smell all the Les Exclusifs I don’t yet own in the hopes that I will eventually like them enough to purchase. 31RC joined my collection just this year. I fell for BdI immediately but I seldom wear it because my mom can detect it a mile away (even just one tiny dab of the extrait) and hates it (boo hiss)!
Wow, that’s a bummer because BdI is so good.
You smell fabulous!
Why thank you! You were my inspiration to wear it today – celebrating with you on your FB, joining you in public service and thinking of you with the record heat out west!
Oh, that’s sweet! What’s funny is, I know if I ever wear any 28 La Pausa, I’ll think to myself, “I need more sprays; it’s what Hajusuuri would do!” ????
Swooning over Le Dix ???? AnnE is the lovely scent fairy responsible for this new love of mine!
That’s a beauty.
I went with PPC Samarinda today. Yummy!
I just got back to my office from a second viewing of a townhouse I looked at over the weekend. I do believe it’s offer time, and my realtor is making up the paperwork. The only real concern I had was that the place is on the corner of a busy road and right next to a tollway, but you don’t really hear the road inside the house at all. It’s all remodeled and cute (no carpet for me to rip out and replace! yay!) and I like the location well enough, so I decided that it’s too good to pass up (my price range contains a lot of crap so I kinda have to take it where I can get it). So we’ll see how it goes.
Also.. a geographic fun fact: there is a street in Houston called Fragrant Cloud Ct. I found this out because it popped up in the suggestions when I was searching for something else in Google Maps. It would be an appropriate address for a perfumista, I think.
Oh good luck with the bid!
Thanks! I just signed and my realtor sent the offer off to the listing agent, so fingers crossed! We know that there was already one offer, but the listing agent told my realtor that the offer was “kinda low”. Which she probably wasn’t supposed to say, but whatever. I went in below asking but hopefully not so low that I won’t at least get to negotiate. I could do asking on this one, but of course if I don’t have to I would rather not. 🙂
Hope it goes well .
Good luck, sweetgrass!
Best of luck!
Testing the JM rare teas and starting out with the Jade Tea one. My allergies are really bad today so perhaps I’m missing a nuance or five, but it pretty much smells like Bvlgari’s green tea only thinned out a bit (thank goodness because I usually get a headache from strong green tea). Meh.
Thinner than the Bvlgari is pretty darned thin!
I’m in Sonoma scent studio’s Rose Volupté from a sample Pixel sent me. I know I’ve worn this before and it didn’t make a huge impression. But gosh darn it if isn’t the perfect scent for my mood today. Reminds me of beach plums and roses on the East Coast in summer.
I recently tried this one and really liked it. I think the musks she uses are a little off-putting to me, but on days when I’m not especially sensitive to them RV is great.
I was just daydreaming about which perfume house/store I would like to be locked in overnight. Would I go for Hermes and line up all the Hermesessence that I haven’t experienced, or Frederic Malle ( same reason) or a night at Tauer?
Maybe a week of being locked in so I could visit more than one place.
What to wear today? I might introduce Monsieur Li to a Jardin by the Nile
I think I’d chose to be locked into Chanel. I would be found in the morning propped up incapable in a corner, marinated in Exclusifs, with a smile of blissful repletion on my lips!
If I could choose, I’d have written “choose” here, not chose!
I’d chose FM, I think, because of the variety, but also because the stores are so beautiful.
That is a fantastic daydream! I think I’d cheat on this and choose the Osmothèque. ????
Definitely cheating…unless they lock me in with you and provide snacks.
Now, that sounds like a plan!
A bit darker perhaps but I’ve often thought that if it were end of days/zombie apocalypse, etc., I’d like to be in a duty-free shop surrounded by perfume, chocolate, alcohol, fine leather goods…all the best things in life.
???? fending off the zombies smelling fab
Love, love, love this question! It would be fantastic for the lazy Saturday poll. Without hesitating, I would chose Guerlain. But Tauer would be an awful lot of fun….????
Sampling ELdO Tom of Finland again. I’m getting a rubber note which is not listed. Also like the pine and the vanilla combo, reminds me of Gypsy Water. Some may find this too sweet.
Following on today’s themes of perfume fairies and house(s) divided, finally trying some Tokyo Milk Dark samples gifted to me.
Bittersweet is all sweet, no bitter “chocolatey” on my left side and Bulletproof is cedar-smoky on my right. One of them promised coconut in the notes list, but I’m not seeing it yet.
I busted out my LD of LL Bergamot yesterday based on suggestions here, and the drydown was so awesome, thanks everyone.
Very good morning. The rain is coming down in solid sheets here and my pretty but silly weather app says it’s 14 degrees, but I don’t believe it for a single second. It’s cold! I decided to wear Angel Innocent today, because the dear man put it into my head yesterday, but mostly because it’s a warm smell and I’ve remembered that I like it, especially with old jeans and a jersey, which is what I’m wearing today because I’m working at home. Be well wherever you are, NS-Tites.
Stay cozy and dry inside! If only I could take some of that rain off your hands for you. Sure could use it here!
I’m celebrating the official start of summer by taking a “siesta in the shade of an orange”–that is, I’m wearing Guerlain Aqua Allegoria Nerolia Bianca. It does, as advertised, smell like it captures all parts of the tree.
SOTD = sampling Chanel’s Cristalle in EdT. WOW! I get what its fans are gaga about. This has jumped onto my “You ought to get a bottle of this” list. It is a wonderful match for the warm and sticky weather here.
Yay.
Taking a break from making some phone calls for my Dad… Social Security, health insurance folks….
I had originally thought I can’t do the house divided… I only brought a few scents with me and none by the same house. But…we discovered a box up in my mom’s closet with old fragrance minis. Lots of Avon and some EL. I’m going to try and claim the Emeraude mini and the Azuree… But, they’re all such cute bottles that I’m not sure I want to open any.
Sigh… my mom was harassed by sweepstakes scam artists the past six or so months. She had understood they were scams but at the same time, she just never quite got what was going on. They’re so aggressive and claim to be calling from such official agencies. A guy called last week (claiming to be Publishers Clearing House) and got obscene, dropping F bombs on me when I pushed back. A guy today (professing to be from UPS) got mad when I told him my mother was no longer here – wanted to know why I didn’t say so immediately (I kept him on the line a while.) I won’t waste regular telemarketers time…they have a tough job. But…these guys. I’m going to continue to waste their time and string them along so that they’re delayed in calling their next target. It angers me that they added stress to her life. Just a little payback by messing with them. I’ve resolved to stay kind and not lash back. But, I may laugh if they get mad. Just to make them madder….
If you have parents above a certain age, warn them. Once you get on their list, these guys are relentless….
I’m sorry your mom had to deal with such jerks. I think your tactics with them is awesome though, I love a good act of passive aggression.
That stuff really gets me, too. I’m sure they’ve met their match with you and good for you for doing that! I had a roommate get scammed by a caller back in the 90s and she was niether old nor naive. I guess some people feel like they have to be polite and can’t just hang up on people and then get caught up in the spiel. My husband is a little like that. But I think I’ve rubbed off on him a little.
And I realy like Azuree. Glad you’re getting to spend some time there.
The only technology my mother appreciates is caller ID. She has learned that if she answers any number she doesn’t recognize or hasn’t initiated, she will be thoroughly scolded. Usually they don’t hassle her much, but she has had quite a few messages from “official agencies” claiming to have indicted me for whatever silly offense they can make up, or threatening to jail her for failure to submit government BS forms…it makes my blood boil. Even when you know it’s total crap, “we are on our way right now to arrest you” is pretty intimidating.
I’m sorry anyone has to deal with these jerks and pray that all scammers suffer terribly from uncontrollable flatulence, impotence, and trench foot.
I think you and your mom have it right. If they are real, they will leave a message. If they are not real but leave a crazy message, then she can share it with you to help sort out whether she needs to call them back.
It’s hot here, so I’m wearing L’Eau de L’Artisan as I sit here in front of the fan. Tea of the evening is iced Harney Decaf Ceylon, sweetened with honey.
