Roja Parfums H — The Exclusive Aoud ~ new perfume

Posted by Robin on 23 March 2014 9 Comments

Roja Parfums H — The Exclusive Aoud

British niche line Roja Parfums has launched H — The Exclusive Aoud, a new fragrance "that celebrates a decade of collaboration between Harrods and British Master Perfumer Roja Dove".

Anyone who has ever walked through the sumptuous, opulent halls of luxury that is Harrods will understand why this seductive and ultra-sensual fragrance perfectly captures the spirit of this peerless store.

To create ‘H’, Roja has blended the rarest, and most exetic [sic] material available. As with each and every fragrance Roja creates, he has been obsessed about ‘H’.

The notes include bergamot, geranium, nutmeg, oregano, jasmine, rose, labdanum, birch, benzoin, gurjum, cypriol, valerian, patchouli and oud.

Roja Parfums H — The Exclusive Aoud is available at Harrods (but not, as of this moment, online) in the UK, 50 ml for £395.

I don’t like oregano and valerian smells like feet anyway. So there 395 pounds!:p

Since Oud is in everything, I guess you’re right about oregano being the exotic component

I’m sure it smells mostly like oud, but hey, you can get that cheaper too :-)

More like heaving and annoying. Harrods sure isn’t what it used to be back in the early 2000s. It was always busy, and certainly the Egyptian section and home furnishings were hilariously obnoxious (EVERYTHING was gilt and scrolled, and 90% of that was also mirrored or had animal print) but the Food Hall was superb and rather classic – now they switch up concessions to cater for whatever food trend is going on – whoopee pies, cupcakes. Last time I was there I ran through to get to Laduree as I was in the area, and as I passed through the handbags, there were some women at the Bottega Veneta concession and a foot away were PILES of big Roja Dove bags (at least 6, on my quick count) stacked up and their bodyguard standing next to them keeping an eye on them. I much prefer Fortnums and Liberty nowadays.

Gosh and I thought $2,00.00 for a small sprig of oregano was too high at my local grocers. Who knew that it was among the “the rarest, and most exetic [sic] material available?” Who knew that Harrods’ hired proof readers with dyslexia and an inability to use “spell check” features?

I hope that the concentration is pure perfume at that price!

I sniffed this last week – it is Oud with a capital OUD, and I didn’t get much else from it. Roja’s ouds are fantastically well done, and I’m definitely in love with his amber oud, but I don’t see this one appealing to the average customer at all. You must want your oud strong, dark and deep to even approach this bottle. Doubt many NST readers will feel they are missing out on this one.
