Demeter Oud ~ new fragrance

Demeter Oud

Demeter has launched Oud, a new addition to their Fragrance Library:

Oud is highly valued by perfumers for its sweet, woody, aromatic and complex scent. It is a classical note in perfumery, most often used as a base note. At Demeter, we have isolated and refined Oud into a wearable, single note scent while maintaining its full, rounded and enveloping nature – all, without overwhelming, in the traditional Demeter style.

Oud is also called Agarwood. It comes from the wood of the tropical Agar (Aquilaria) tree, believed to have originated in the Assam region of India, and spread from there throughout Southeast Asia. When the wood of this tree gets infected with a certain mold variety (Phialophora parasitica), it reacts by producing a precious, dark and fragrant resin from which is where the perfume ingredient is derived.

Demeter Oud is available in 15, 30 or 120 ml Cologne ($6 – $39.50) and in matching bath & body products.

Cue the comments about another OUD fragrance ;-)

At least this Demeter can be had for as little $6, compared to the other entries milking it at higher tier price points.

Longevity will be the litmus on this one, I presume.

      Totally true on all counts.

I agree 100%… at 39 for the big size, this is a fair proposition.
I’ve liked all the demeters I’ve tested.

By now it’s probably as difficult to come up with an original oud-joke as it is to create an original oud-fragrance… But in fairness, I think it makes sense for Demeter to have one, a scent library needs an oud.

What, no “oud has jumped the shark” tag this time?

Oh boy. You know “oud” is over when Demeter has done a version of it. I don’t like this brand. At all. The look, the synthetic cheap scents, all of it.

Ha, it is not over until the fat lady sings :-)

*head scratch* I thought Demeter was the fat lady. Who else is there? Avon?

Jovan has already done oud, but still to go: yes, Avon. And Victoria’s Secret, and BBW, & L’Occitane. And Axe!
