Van Cleef & Arpels First Eau de Parfum Intense ~ new fragrance

Van Cleef & Arpels First Eau de Parfum Intense fragrance bottle

Van Cleef & Arpels has launched First Eau de Parfum Intense, a new limited edition variation on their well-known First fragrance for women, originally introduced in 1976:

Experience a new facet of the iconic First perfume with the limited edition Van Cleef & Arpels First Intense Eau de Parfum, an opulent evocation of the original scent.

Inspired by the luxury of jewels and beautiful adornments, First Intense envelops the body with a seductive and mysterious aura. Like its predecessor, the First Eau de Parfum Intense relies upon a prime choice of noble components and white flowers to create an unforgettable signature.

The highly concentrated elixir emphasises the floral notes of Jasmine, White Frangipani and Mimosa and the sensual notes of Iris, Vanilla and Praline seen in the original First.

Additional notes include mandarin and bergamot.

Van Cleef & Arpels First Eau de Parfum Intense can be found now at Escentual in the UK, £79 for 100 ml.

This can’t hold a candle to Hello Kitty Intense!

I believe vanilla is NOT in the original FIRST. If it was, I wouldn’t be able to wear it and I’ve worn it for years. I am allergic to vanilla.

What could they possibly do to improve the original? I discovered the original First (whatever the latest EdP formulation is) and I love it. I don’t detect vanilla either. I experience it as an aldehydic (really aldehydic) floral, not an oriental. I’d guess this new version will sweeten the pot and create another fruity oriental .

Praline in the original First? Not in my bottle which I just got last year. I detest candy/ cookie notes in fragrance since I’m far too old and cranky to carry them off. I won’t be needing this any more than I’ll be needing Coco Noir (blech). Off to rub some liniment on my bunions!
