Ineke + Anthropologie Sweet William ~ new fragrance

Ineke + Anthropologie Sweet William

Niche perfume line Ineke will launch Sweet William in October. Sweet William joins the Floral Curiosities collection exclusive to Anthropologie.

Sweet William (Dianthus barbatus) is a clove-scented, fringed flower that is bicolored in white/pink/red tones. It recently received some justified accolades when Kate Middleton included it in her bridal bouquet, presumably for both the lovely scent and the name. Ineke has created a Sweet William soliflore fragrance that is ensconced by rich wood notes.

The fragrance opens with a juicy peach note. The Sweet William floralcy is further warmed with cinnamon, clove and cumin essential oils. The dominant wood notes are a blend of cedarwood, sandalwood and patchouli, softened with Bourbon vanilla.

Ineke + Anthropologie Sweet William will be available in 75 ml Eau de Parfum, $68, or 15 ml travel spray, $28.

Sweet William sounds very intriguing- I just wish the bottle color wasn’t quite so puce!

Looks like they’ll have 4 in travel spray — not Briar Rose, but all the others.

Is Briar Rose being phased out? – it was 1/2 off in-store and it wasn’t on the Anth. website anymore.

Anyway, this new one sounds interesting.

I would guess so, but don’t know for sure, sorry!

I have seen Briar Rose on the sale table (around $30) in two of their stores. It’s being phased out.

I thought Angel’s Trumpet was my favourite from the Floral Curiosities, until I smelled Sweet William over dinner with Ineke a couple of weeks ago. I had to douse in it immediately ;-) It’s fantastic!
And she’s a master at packaging art. The little books & purse sprays are so lovely!

I know I am going to love this. I adore Dianthus, and I love Ineke’s unique take on scents. And a $28 travel spray to try it out!

    October??? Bummer. Travel sprays..yay:D.

My fave is An Evening Edged in Gold…I douse myself in it. It’s sooooo good, one of my faves. Love Ineke. I need to try the FC scents..haven’t yet:(.

I think you will like this one then – it has a similar fruit-cedar-spice accord to that in Evening Edged in Gold (only this time instead of plum, there’s peach, and rather than saffron, the spices are more peppery-clovey).

Hi Robin, I’m new to the world of notes, but I love perfume! Thanks for your blog!
I am very curious now with the Ineke line, especially with everyone posting how crazy they are about it!

Goodness, this sounds like it was made for me (especially if it’s available in 15 ml!). The only thing giving me pause is that none of the other Floral Curiosities have worked on me — they all seem to read as fancy shampoo, and the effect is so uniform across the line that I’m wondering whether something about my nose and/or skin is the problem. But what with the peach, clove, CUMIN, dianthus, and woods, I think I have to try this. (And I do want Hothouse Flower, though I’m not sure whether it’s part of the Floral Curiosities line.)

No, it’s not an FC but an addition to her A-G, now H line:D.
