Just read the Wiki entry on the Apache dance and that made me lol too! Vicious street gang or no, all I could imagine was West Side Story and Guys and Dolls.

I remember reading that the author Margaret Mitchell, in her debutante years, shocked polite Atlanta society with a performance of the Apache dance at a ladies’ club! That was the first time I’d heard of it. Fantastic.

    Cute commercial!

I predict Candy will be a big hit, too. I got a sample on Saturday, and my daughter and I really liked it. I love benzoin, and this one has it in spades.

    Hugs!

I’m dying to try it and have been really excited about it ever since I read the article here. The original Prada is one of my ‘go to’ faves, but Candy just looks really nice as well. Does it feel Prada-ish at all?

Hey you, nice to see you! I just reviewed it today — I like it too.

Hi there! I’ve missed being able to swing by more often but only two and a half weeks until kids are back in school… Not that I’m counting or anything. ;)

Yes, I came by to see site updates for today again just now (evening) and just noticed the review. Off to go read it and hope it doesn’t disappoint… Hugs.

Bought this the other day, I like the name but it is a bit misleading.
Candy is sweet for only the first hour and then it is all BENZOIN on a subtle musk base.
I love benzoin so I had to have it, lasts all day, and I could even smell it on my skin after a shower. YMMV :)

I don’t mind that it’s called Candy but it’s not (just) candy…it’s a cute name.

I was SO looking forward to this…I bought it and 3 days later I gave it away. Just not enough oomph. Puts you to sleep. The commercial is much more lively.

Fantastic ad! I had a big grin on my face by the end:) I love the tired scale being practised at the beginning, and then the electronic music taking-over and the explosion from the dutiful student to the near-violent-but-playful-too energy of the apache dancer. Also the colour scheme: flamboyant pink walls, lipstick and large-ish bloomers with the straight-laced black dress + suit. Altogether lovely!

I’ve never heard of the Apache dance but that appeared to involve tango steps – so basically, show tango with added violence.

I’m intrigued by the fragrance and plan to try it.

I should also add that as an abuse survivor, I actually found the ad a bit triggering, especially the bit where each person is flung violently against the wall.

I had to keep the sound off while I’m watching this at work today. Silence doesn’t bode well for this ad. It looks very much like a 3 year old’s temper tantrum. Imagine a toy rather than that man, and well, it’s strangely similar. ;-)

The making of is as fun as the commercial. My gut reaction to this perfume was “Candy??? really? I don’t see Prada women as people who are enticed by things called Candy” And I do buy Prada clothes, bags, and shoes (as rare splurges). However, this commercial is fun and I can imagine myself wanting to do the same thing when I was a teenager practicing for piano examinations.

I still think this technically should have been released under the younger Miu Miu line but it probably will reach a wider audience with the name Prada attached to it.

Awww! This is definitely cute, especially since I don’t really ever like fragrance commercials.

I love this advert :) it made me smile. can’t wait to try Candy

she spoke with an Italian or French or something accent the whole way through, then at the end “Prada Candy” in American accent :L too funny.
