The Monday Mail ~ open thread for feedback, September through December 2010

This is an open thread for participants in the Monday Mail articles to share their experiences, and hopefully let us know if they found what they were looking for (or went bankrupt trying). I’ve sent out emails requesting feedback from everyone who took part between September and December of last year, so check back over the next few days to see what we can find out.

Here are links to the articles for each participant:

Malissa, Nick’s mom (Julie), Jesse, Claire, Rochelle, Susan, Adrian, Ines, Samantha, Marie, Lucy

    Posting for Marie:

    Hi Robin,

Hope you’re well. I really enjoy participating in the Monday mail. I wanted to find a signature scent and many commenters guessed right; it will be very difficult for me! I like so many different things any the seasons here in Montreal are really marked. Some of the suggestions I got from the post were right on! I ended up buying (and wearing) l’Eau Ambrée and Bulgari Petits et Mamans (my baby and I share this one). The Prada was almost a unanimous suggestions! Very interesting…My current rotation also include Drôle de Rose and Rousse.
A big thank you to everyone who took the time to share their ideas for me.

    Marie

    Hello All,
Im Adrian ; first of all, many thanks to everybody who helped me.. I received so many suggestions I had no time to try all of them.
I tried some of the L’Artisan, but I didn’t fell in love with any.. I had some difficulties trying to find some of the older fragrances..
Finally I ended up buying Sel de Vetiver from The Different Company (which I think was recommended by Joe).. It is fantastic and suit me perfectly… Its different and really original.. I’ve received so many compliments, some from perfumistas.. . And nobody seems to know the fragrance, a fact which I love..
    My best regards for all..

Hi, Malissa here. I couldn’t afford to sample all the suggestions, but I did write them all down in a notebook for later. Daisy and Dee sent me samples, and some of my favorites are Acqua Di Parma Iris Nobile (even though I don’t like the taste of anise, apparently I like it in perfume), Chanel 31 Rue Cambon, SJP Lovely, and Aedes De Venustas. There are more, but I don’t remember off the top of my head. One thing I learned: My preferences seem to be totally random, not based on a certain fragrance family. There’s certain notes I like and don’t like, but I never know how a perfume’s going to smell just by reading the list of notes. Oh well, it’s fun just ordering random samples. Thanks everyone for the suggestions and samples. I don’t feel any more educated, but atleast I’m having fun with this. :)
