I would try the one for women, the notes sound a bit more up my alley than their past releases. Of course, it does still sound like a watery floral and I’m not sure I really care for those.

I don’t usually care for them either, but L’Eau d’Issey is better than many — and LOVE that bottle in black. I’ll give it a shot!

The black bottle is indeed great. Somehow the colors remind me somehow of Narciso Rodriguez for her. Don’t know why.
I will certainly try the new L’Eau, but so far I couldn’t really smell them…..

I tried the mens on saturday. I thought it was meh. Smells basically the same as the original. Its not dark or Noir in any way.

As one who does not walk “the amber trail,” I think I will pass.

I’m always interested to try any time someone throws osmanthus in the mix – just to see how it turns out!

It seems like amber is the big wave this fall/winter.

Did anyone try the Laura Mericer Ambre Passion Velvet yet?

I haven’t tried the LM, but the name of it is so enticing I might just try to “walk the amber trail.” ;) (Sorry I keep saying that, but it sounds like a euphemism for who can say what.) Ambre Passion Velvet makes me think of a winter night, snuggled up on a burgundy velvet couch huddled under a cashmere throw, warming myself by the fireplace… Ok, I’m sold! I need to go find that one!

I don’t know. I thought the original was way too clean for my liking, and can’t imagine it with a dollop of amber thrown in. If I’m out and it’s there, I’ll try it, but it isn’t really calling me.

I hope amber is the note d’jour, as it is one of my faves, especially in autumn.

And the men’s version is less expensive than the women’s because…?

    • Posted on 25 August 2010

The women’s is EDP while the men’s is EDT?

    • Posted on 25 August 2010

Men’s are almost always less expensive. Might be the concentration, but I think it is one of those things like charging a woman $10 to dry clean a “blouse” and a man $5 to dry clean a “shirt”.

    The women’s bottle is ultra-desirable.

  9. Posted on 25 August 2010

I wonder if the women’s one will smell like a “freshly vacated shower cubicle with the light switched off”? : – )

Somehow the combination of “Miyake” + “noir” does not compute, but I tend to smell his stuff in hopes of… I don’t know what. Liking one, I guess. I love the design and concepts, and yeah, that black bottle is great.
