Quintessentially Perfume ~ new perfume book

Quintessentially Perfume book

Quintessentially Publishing has launched Quintessentially Perfume, a new book about fragrance:

Quintessentially Perfume is a luxurious hard-back book chronicling the development and world of perfume over the course of 200 pages and nine fascinating chapters.

Perfume lovers will love the beautifully illustrated and in-depth interviews from perfume creators; eloquent articles from perfume writers and experts, as well as a showcase chapter paying tribute to 40 world class perfume brands. These include a rich and varied cross section of collections that cover different styles and approaches; brands whose appeal has gained mainstream recognition, as well as those who have deliberately sought to retain their niche identity.

Quintessentially Perfume can be found now at Aedes for $35. (quote via quintessentiallypublishing)

That isn’t too bad for a hard cover book. Gathering info online is usually my method of choice, but I’d still love to check this out. I guess that firmly places me in hardcore perfumista territory. I’d love a monthly mag devoted just to fragrance (perfume, candles, bath and body type things) and it isn’t like there’s a lack of material to keep the editors busy, and to think of all the scent strips…

I want! I want! (OK, I have to share that when I first saw that image I thought, “How do you spray that??” I really am that dim-witted. So sad. I do now realize that it is a book.)

LOL…I did the same, so you’re not alone.

My first response was, “It’s a foil scent packet that I need to rip open to extract a scented towelette?” Honestly, I thought “Quintessentially Perfume” was the name of a sampler set of fragrances when I started reading! *ashamed*

When they master the scent of a book (preferably an old one) into spray form, I am all over that. ;)

But which “experts” and “perfume writers”? Wish they had attached some actual names to this project. I wrote them to ask–will report if there’s more info.

Good thing none of us would ever spend $150 on perfume…

No, and I certainly wasn’t browsing on their site to see if there’s anything I couldn’t live without right now… No, not me.

Just go to Mult Co Libraries (yes, the most fabulous public library system in the US) and keep making ILL requests for this book. Eventually they will have to buy it. It is a book after all!!

A-hem – everybody just make requests for this book at your local libraries and then eventually it will arrive! As soon as I figure out the ISBN this afternoon, I’m gonna tell my buyer to get us a copy!!

I’ll do that just to placate you, Ann, but I want my own copy. ;) Well, and it would be doing a service to the people of Portland to have a copy (or 20) floating through the system.

It’s not something my public library system would ever buy (darned budget cuts), but we do have WorldCat ILL capabilities here in Maryland, Ann, so be careful…your copies might end up spending all their time here on the east coast! ;-)
