Annick Goutal Rose Splendide ~ new perfume

Annick Goutal Rose Splendide

Annick Goutal will launch Rose Splendide, a new fragrance for women, in September. The perfume pays tribute to the brand’s founder, Annick Goutal, and her love of roses.

Rose Splendide was developed by perfumer Isabelle Doyen. The notes include rose, pear and magnolia, and the scent is reportedly fresh and green.

Annick Goutal Rose Splendide will be 85€ for 100 ml. (via marieclaire.fr, osmoz.com, lexpress.fr)

Robin, this sounds quite a bit like Petite Cherie, which many of us know has some issues with turning. I wonder if this will be replacing PC in the AG line up? At any rate, I will definitely be looking forward to sniffing it. I love roses, and fresh, green scents. Thanks for letting us know.

    • Posted on 30 June 2010

I seriously doubt it, I think PC is one of their biggest sellers.

I need to sample more AG fragrances. I’ve only sniffed the paltry offerings at the dept. store and I haven’t found one that I really like. Maybe this one?

Huh. Wonder if they’re phasing out Rose Absolue.

Don’t think so…there’s a PR picture on Osmoz that shows all 3 rose scents.

This sounds lovely! And while not everything Goutal puts out is to my taste, all of her fragrances are well-thought out, and feature qualityy ingredients. I used to wear Petite Cherie and never had a problem with it turning, although it appears others did. I’ll look forward to trying this!

A new Goutal and the timing is perfect! I used the last little bit of my classic Eau de Hadrian (the new version isn’t at all good) and was feeling a little blue about the passing. But knowing there’s a new one to try perks me up. The Goutals and I seem to play very well together so I have high hopes.

    The pear scares me!

      Posted on 30 June 2010

It doesn’t seem right in there to me. Which is unfortunate, because a green rose (that doesn’t sound right– a green fragrance *with* rose?) sounds really good to me.

      Posted on 30 June 2010

Not a pear fan either, though if that is the source of the “fresh” instead of ozonic notes, maybe it’s ok. I love so many of the AGs, but this one doesn’t really appeal to me.

      • Posted on 30 June 2010

I’m glad I’m not the only one afraid of pear … I have been ever since I spilled a Tresor tester all over my arm.

    • Posted on 30 June 2010

Whereas pear and green are what lure me to this. Otherwise, I’m mostly over rose.

Joe, it sounds like you are dumping someone, lol. “Oh Rose, I am soo over you! It was good while it lasted. It’s not you, it’s me. No wait, it *IS* you. “

I decided I’m Just Not That Into Rose.

Actually, I still enjoy rose from time to time, and I want to find out how citrusy that new Rosissimo is, but I’m hardly on the lookout for new ones. Know that feeling?

            Posted on 30 June 2010

No. LOL!! Hey, whenever you get sick of all your pretty roses, just send them on over to me! I am sure I can accomodate an equitable swap!!!! … But yes, I do know what you mean about being a little over something… I am near to verging on being over …. just barely … NOTHING YET! Ha ha. I was going to say vetiver, but then I realize that is impossible!

            Posted on 30 June 2010

I sort of feel that way about any dominant note. Once I’ve found a few good solid representations, I don’t need anymore. After a certain point, they start to smell more alike than not. Iris was the first victim for me.

          • Posted on 30 June 2010

Yet iris I’m still collecting. I think rose is such a strong personality that doesn’t suit me as well as iris anyway. I also went through a moribund period with vetiver collecting too, but now I’m back on that as of recently for some reason. The nose, it is fickle.

            Posted on 30 June 2010

I understand that, too. I think the reason it hasn’t happened to me with rose is that I don’t think of myself as “a rose person”, and so I haven’t tried too many roses.

            Posted on 30 June 2010

So Joe, what you’re saying is you’re willing to have a one-night stand with rose, but still want to see other perfumes? As long as you’re honest with rose about you’re intentions, you have my support.

          • miss kitty v.
            Posted on 30 June 2010

Your, not you’re. Some cog in my head slipped, apparently the one that held in the ability to spell and use words correctly.

OMG, I was right the first time, wasn’t I??? What is wrong with me??

          • Posted on 30 June 2010

Well there were a lot of you’res in that:
“As long as you’re honest with rose about you’re intentions…”

The second one should be “your.” There are times I’ve discovered I’ve accidentally “overcompensated” and typed “you’re” instead of your… which I still think is better than not knowing the “you’re” version exists!

          • miss kitty v.
            Posted on 30 June 2010

Oh, it gets better– I saw the typo and tried to respond to correct it, but when I looked again I only saw the first your/you’re problem and thought I was wrong in correcting myself, but didn’t see the second your/you’re issue. Lost? So am I.

Another addition to my list of possible ‘best rose of all time’ fragrances! Sounds simple and uncomplicated, sometimes that is just the thing for a hot summer day (unfortunately so far here in Seattle ‘hot’ and ‘summer’ are not words used in the same sentence… I am feeling utterly deprived).

  8. Posted on 30 June 2010

Roses always sound so promising on paper, but are so tricky on my skin. :( And if it’s supposed to be green…. Ah well, I’d still try it. ;)

Cats should be able to spell. They read all the time, to judge from the way they sit on newspapers.

Now, the Chik-Fil-A cows have an excuse if they can’t do better than “Eat mor chikn.” They were brought up in a barn.

I suppose it’s my English major persona, paired with my inner grumpy old man. The cats are cute, I just usually find the text stupid rather than funny. I just don’t get it.

I work with clinicians, and alot of them don’t spell much better than lolcats. Dr. Tinycat is one of my favorites (photo of a tiny kitten wearing an equally tiny little scrub top. Caption: “DOCTOR TINYCAT TO THE OR – STAT!”). Gotta love it.

Look what I started, and then went away and missed all the fun. Dang.

As a former spelling champ (all-state AA champ two years running!) I am annoyed by misspellings in real life, but the lolcats usually amuse me. (I had just been reading my daily feed from http://icanhascheezburger.com before flipping over here. Sometimes they’re stupid, sometimes I’m on the floor… why didn’t that link work??)

      Gosh, I’m tired.

For some reason I find lolcats hilarious too. For those who don’t like them, this will make you roll your eyes, but there’s actually a wiki project where the whole bible is translated into lolcat. I haven’t delved into it (it’s a bit much for me), but the first passages of Genesis have some hilarious lines:

Now this is news to me!!!!! I love AG… and I love roses!

I am wondering if this is a more sheer style of the Ce Soir ou Jamais which is mouthwatering pear and drop dead rose, but it does have some other accords and a wee bit of skank in the base. I love it, but is a bit rich for most daily wear. The Rose Absolue is just gorgeous plain roses….. really a soliflore. I love the rose in Heure Exquise, which is one of my HGs…. Petite Cherie gets a bit soapy for me after a while though I like the opening….

I can’t wait to test this one!!!! Another rose from AG! Woo Hoo!!

  14. Posted on 30 June 2010

Rose! I will be checking this out. I would love a green rose fragrance. I’m also wondering how the pear fits into this but I will try it as soon as I can find it. Also, I like the pink bow.

I think with most of the AG, you can untie the bow. Pretend it is not there! I am not a pink bow girl either.

            Posted on 30 June 2010

And for that matter, we could all just put any old bow on any perfume bottle we wanted to! I’ll just put a pretty pink bow on my Hadrien and call it a day.

    Another rose?

I’m the biggest Annick Goutal fangirl and this does NOT excite me.

They already have Rose Splendide and Ce Soir ou Jamais. Perhaps they’re phasing one of these out?

I dunno, too many roses out there. The new Coup de Foudre bored me, too.

      Too many roses?? Heresy! :)

Agree that the Delrae was a disappointment, though…..all the more so because my hopes were so high.Love the house, and darn near bought a bottle sniffed. I didn’t get much rose at all, mostly just a whole lot of sour.

I think CdF could have used some more oomph, certainly.

    • OperaFan
      Posted on 30 June 2010

Now that you’ve mentioned CdF… I was quite disappointed by it as well, especially after Mythique which was a masterpiece, IMHO.

    • Posted on 30 June 2010

I have a confession to make: after saying above that I’m over rose, I tried Coup de Foudre today and I actually like it quite a bit. It must be all the citrus in it; quite zesty.

      • Posted on 1 July 2010

I liked it too – I thought it quite well-done, although a bit too “rose”-y for me.
