L’Artisan Coeur de Vetiver Sacre ~ new fragrance

L'Artisan Coeur de Vetiver Sacre perfume

L’Artisan Parfumeur will launch Coeur de Vétiver Sacré in September. The new fragrance is…

…An offering to the gods, a mystical journey between West and East, a woody fragrance, light and magnificent… Journeys to the East are mystical and have always attracted explorers, poets and writers from the West. With CŒUR DE VÉTIVER SACRÉ, L’Artisan Parfumeur takes you on a dream voyage to the magic East. This noble vetiver, like an offering to the gods, is as close as possible to the wood itself.

The perfumer Karine Vinchon wanted to create a different and sensual vetiver by revealing all its facets. Its sparkle is magnified by bergamot black tea and hints of date and dried fruits. Its peppery side is enhanced by saffron, ginger and pink berries. Its vibrant and smoky heart is strengthened by slights notes of vanilla, incense and musks.

L’Artisan Parfumeur Coeur de Vétiver Sacré will be available in 50 ($95) or 100 ($135) ml Eau de Toilette, and will be exclusive to Barneys until next year. (via press release)

I’m sure it will be in the UK too…just don’t know where, sorry! and would think it would be at all the L’Artisan boutiques everywhere.

Most likely SpaceNK stores and Liberty in London.

    • Posted on 25 June 2010

There are two stand-alone L’Artisan boutiques in London: one in Marylebone High Street, the other in Cale Street. Google for phone numbers.

    Drool…..but Barneys? :(

    • Posted on 24 June 2010

Not my favorite outcome either. But wonder if you’ll be able to order bottles and/or samples directly from L’Artisan? We’ll see.

The last few times I’ve been to the LAP website, the sample order section was empty. :( Well, there’s always TPC.

        • Posted on 24 June 2010

TPC? Are you kidding, there’s always a split before you can say Daisyjoecarlos three times fast.

so is that your new perfume mantra? rather than inner calm it might inspire rapid respiration and elevated blood pressure as you anticipate unlimited splits!!!! …or maybe the inner calm that comes from knowing sooner or later there WILL be a split……it’s a tough call.

Ah, but a $3 sample vs the cost of a split…just in case, you know? Well, we’ll see.

Sounds unbelievable! Ever since Dzing! entered my life, it’s hard not to explore each and every one of L’Artisan’s offerings.

Thank you, Miss Kitty V! I’m on a bit of a high – picking up a bottle of ‘Diorella’ today! Luckily a bottle from the ’90s, before the heavy reformulation.

    Ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooohh! :)

Wasn’t there just another recent thread where Karine Vinchon was mentioned?

    • Posted on 24 June 2010

Just used the handy search tool: she did Jatamansi & the new Amouage Opus III.

      • Posted on 24 June 2010

Yep! And you can also always use the tags below the article.

Robin! thanks for all the techie things you do that make this site so rich! :)

          • Posted on 26 June 2010

Oh, thanks! But must admit tags are applied rather haphazardly here…I’m good about brands & perfumers, not so good about things like fragrance family.

Oh, wow, sounds like a real must try! Smoky vetiver and tea? I’m up for that!

  9. Posted on 24 June 2010

Wanna smell, but who wrote that ad copy? “This noble vetiver, like an offering to the gods, is as close as possible to the wood itself.” Wood?

    • Daisy
      Posted on 24 June 2010

yeah—I noticed that too—as far as I know Vetiver is a grass!

      • boojum
        Posted on 24 June 2010

Picky, picky… ;) Yep, I wondered about it too. Then I thought maybe they were being vague on purpose, and meaning a wood, as in a forest, some mystical place where East meets West….. you get the idea. But odds are, they’re just off. Or, I don’t know what I’m talking about.

    • Posted on 24 June 2010

It is true that it is a grass (or more accurately in terms of how it is used, a root), but it is considered a woody note, just as patchouli is not a wood but is considered a woody note — a vetiver fragrance will usually be classified in the wood family unless other notes (citrus, for instance) predominate. I don’t know if that is how they meant that sentence (and I suppose the original meaning could also have been garbled from the French), but it’s possible.

Robin–you’re raining on my personal picky-parade with (gasp!) facts!

        • Posted on 24 June 2010

HA…neither you nor I would let silly facts get in the way of a picky-parade. Carry on.

(and anyway you know I’m just guessing, I don’t know what they meant)

  10. Posted on 24 June 2010

I can’t wait to try this! It sounds heavenly. I’m actually thankful I have to wait a year… since my 2010 budget is about exhausted already :(

    Posted on 24 June 2010

What happened to our wonderful Bertrand D? Did he burn out? I am interested to try this one and give Karine V’s work a try. How do these decisions get made in terms of who creates (I mistakenly thought BD was the ‘in house parfumeur’)? And what did every one end up thinking of Nuit de Tuberose? I feel that these come on so fast I don’t even get a chance to savor whether I like the one which came before…

    • Posted on 24 June 2010

They said from the beginning that they would continue to use outside perfumers…and that BD would continue to create for other brands.

  13. Posted on 24 June 2010

I hope Vetiver Sacre has better persistance than Jatamansi, which I only got to enjoy for about ten minutes, tops. (But those ten minutes were paradise.)

    • Posted on 24 June 2010

Interesting. Jatamansi lasts quite a while on me. I spray it liberally. And I love it, too, so I’m excited about trying this vetiver!

      • Posted on 24 June 2010

Ooh, you are so lucky. Jatamansi likes you! :)

        • Posted on 24 June 2010

I guess so! Have you worn it in very hot weather? It sort of “blooms” on me.

          • Furriner
            Posted on 25 June 2010

Jatamansi lasts all day on me, too. I was so enthusiastic about it that I bought a bottle for a friend…. who said it only lasted two hours on her. She likes it though and just keeps reapplying. I agree about it blooming in the heat.

I am excited about seeing more of Karine Vinchon’s work. She’s also listed as perfumer for the Amouage Opus III, I think.

          • Posted on 25 June 2010

Judging from your comments, I get the feeling I’m being too conservative in the amount I apply. It’s funny– when I really, really like a fragrance, I subconsciously tend to use less of it.. I suppose I want to make it last…. in the bottle. Silly.

If there was way to accurately convey my response in words, I would give it a shot. But the best I can do is say that when I saw this I squealed and started waving my hands about. Of course, once I noticed it wouldn’t be released elsewhere until NEXT YEAR the Perfume Excitement Interpretive Dance moves stopped. Why, God, why??

    Posted on 24 June 2010

@ Miss Kitty & SmokeyToes. I did a happy dance too!

    • Posted on 24 June 2010

I’m trying not to do a happy dance since I did one for Havana Vanille and it was so meh on me. :-(

But this does sound pretty great.

      • Posted on 25 June 2010

I was doing a happy dance for Havana AND Al-Oudh and all it got me was some blisters. I’ve been chairdancing a little for Nuit de Tube, and hoping it doesn’t let me down when a bit arrives in my mailbox any day now.

So yeah, I’m a little gunshy with L’Artisan’s new launches, but this.. oh daddy.

        • Posted on 25 June 2010

I smelled the Nuit de Tube on paper and it was pretty nice!

Oh my, this sounds wonderful! September, however, is still about 2.5 months away….bummer.

I tried to do some decant organizing the other day (what a joke) and realized how many L’Artisans I have and enjoy. A few samples are marked “no” but I should go back and re-try them. Perhaps with the passage of time, and my ever changing tastes, I’ll find something new.

I meant to write do NO more than one new fragrance a year. The back to back new launches are ridiculous.

    Posted on 25 June 2010

This is one I DEFINITELY need a split of. What’s the best way to make sure I hook up with whoever does one?? Vetiver is maybe my number one note. I used to have a bag of shredded root that I would spend an embarrasing amount of time snorting…

I might make all of you even more eager, the edt is superb!! i live in Belgium near the French border and crossed over to Lille a few weeks ago. A very nice SA gave me a decant of Coeur de VS and sprayed it on me. By the time I got home I was pulling my hair out for not buying it rightaway . So guess wat I did this morning? I drove to the Lille Printemps and bought the FB. Coeur de VS smells fresh and tingly at the beginning but then (heart notes) something subtly smoky and oriental appears. The beginning is a bit tricky , you have to let it rest a bit as it’s personality changes after about half an hour. A must try!

Got to try this today – insta-love. Perfect for fall and winter, and different from most vetivers I have tried. Spicy, a little sweet, nicely comforting without being bland.
