Jessica Simpson Fancy Nights ~ new perfume

Jessica Simpson Fancy Nights fragrance advert

Jessica Simpson will launch Fancy Nights, the second flanker to her debut fragrance, Jessica Simpson Fancy. Simpson says the new perfume is “more provocative” and shows “a more romantic side of my personality”.

The spicy floriental chypre fragrance was developed by perfumer Steve De Mercado, and the notes include bergamot, papyrus, patchouli, rose and night-blooming jasmine.

Jessica Simpson Fancy Nights will be available in 50 ml Eau de Parfum ($49), look for it midsummer. (quotes via stylenews.peoplestylewatch, additional information via wwd)

Update: additional notes include vanilla, sandalwood, amber and oak moss, and there will also be a 100 ml size. (via cosmeticsinternational)

Doesn’t sound too bad! The bottle reminds me a bit of Amouage Epic Woman. She really wants to cover all bases with it being spicy and oriental AND a chypre. I googled those three words as a phrase and only got Dioressence. Hope someone can compare & contrast ;)

It doesn’t sound too bad at all. If it’s anything like any classic chypre, I’ll be quite surprised though :-)

    Jess goes… Goth?

Vampire was my first thought. Everything is vampire lately.

First thing I thought was… ZOMBIE PERFUME!!!! She looks hungry for brains…

I do like that bottle –probably because I love that dark green…yes the Epic woman bottle is gorgeous and I’m hankering for a blue amouage someday. I do kind of like Jessica Simpson….probably because so many people pick on her every time she gains a pound….I mean, if someone goes around being a beeyotch or a ho, go ahead and call them on it. But constantly haranguing a beautiful girl for a couple extra pounds damages all women….ok, I’m getting down from the soapbox so stop rolling your eyes.
back to perfume—sounds good but I’ve not been at all impressed by the earlier efforts in this line so I’m not expecting much. I’m sure it’ll be at Ulta so I’ll give it a sniff when I see it.

Agree, agree, agree. Whenever I see celebrities “put on the pounds” I think, Wow, that’s my THIN weight! (And my thin weight is not fat, thank you very much.)

I don’t have high hopes for the fragrance, there’s never been a celebrity scent I’d love enough to buy.
I do agree she gets stomped on and not just for her weight. Her lack of a hit record, her sometimes questionable fashion sense. But–I was blown away when I saw her without makeup-this girl has an extraordinary face.

I actually thought she looked better without makeup than with, and you have no idea how weird it is for me to say such a thing. I went to the Dolly Parton School of Makeup Application.

Me too – without makeup she is a very attractive woman. So is Pamela Anderson, believe it or not – that heavy eyeliner she always wears just ages her more than her years. Au naturel, she just looks like the well-preserved 40 year old woman that she is instead of someone who is trying too hard.

Now on to the perfume – it sounds interesting and I LOVE that bottle! I hope it’s at least decent.

I was going to say the same thing about Pam – I remember when Jane magazine had her au naturel – very pretty.

Between liking this and the Paris Hilton ad, I think there might be something wrong with me. I’m going soft. I love that this looks like a Harlequin cover, and I love, love, love the green bottle. Even though they weren’t my thing, her other fragrances weren’t bad.

My thoughts exactly. I can’t get over how I’m liking this ad and even the description of the fragrance.

So since its another flanker does that mean their gettin rid of Fancy Love?

This actually sounds like something I would like, loathe though I am to admit it. I like to pretend I’m too good for celebrity scents, this despite being a HUGE fan of Cher’s Uninhibited (of all things) back in the day.

This sounds really good. I haven’t tried the first two in the line so have no idea if they’re anything I’d like, but this seems like it is going for a bit of a romantic vintage feel with the notes. I applaud that given all the pink pepper/fruit salad celebs put out. I also don’t know much about Jessica Simpson save for her getting harangued for her curves, but if she’s comfortable with her body, Hollywood be damned, than she’s already got my vote. :)

It is a relief to see a celeb fragrance that ISN’T a fruity floral. And goth or not, at least Jessica Simpson isn’t trying (and failing) to be Marilyn Monroe. This one sounds like it will at least be worth a sniff.

I agree! People used to describe Jessica as sickly sweet (and her old line, Sweet Kisses or whatever it was, may have fit that bill) but this one sounds like a decent effort. Sniff-worthy, I think :)

Oh no, this actually sounds like something I might like – except that the whole concept will probably be ruined with cheap ingredients.

I’m not a fan of Fancy, but this does sound nice. Even with the dreaded p word.
I first thought the ad was OTT, but now I actually like the drama…

I don’t personally Mind Jessica Simpson, I think her whole Dumb Blonde Schitck has gone way too far and gotten way too outta hand (thank her overly ambitious Bumpkin of a dad for that) but i actually know a little secret, She is a HELLUVA lot smarter and cannier than her “PERSONA” makes her appear to be! HER Business Prowess, as we have all seen that she is still in the limelight, even aside from her dad’s machinations, she has kept herself Celbri-relevant after all the times she could have just fallen off the Celebrity Radar! Who ELSE would think, but a good ole country girl, to gain a lot of weight just to keep herself in the Tabloids and public eye and then LOSE much of it and become a Celeb-Advocate for Sexy Hot Curvy Girls in the process and still not be nearly a size 2 but still get as much press and male (gay or otherwise) adoration as she does!? don’t say this gal is a Dummy! Unlike Paris Hilton who is just dumb as a pillowcase full of wet hair!

Now the First Fancy, BLECH! DRECK-I-TUDE! It REEKED! It was Awful! just Badly made, Not even Linear, just a Jumble of Nonsense! The first flanker wasn’t that bad, was soft, sweet, not floral in any humanly discernable way bus was a marked step up! this jusy sounds again like a jumble of ingredients, more a STEW than a perfume, Not really imagining this to be anything but a disaster! But I still Like Jess!

meant to say in the above statement that HER Business Prowess is AMAZING and SLY!

Ive heard its very strong. My 2 friends that have tried it dont like it at all. I was at the mall on Friday and totally forgot to check to see if my Macys had it. They say Tease smells just like Very Hollywood. I dont mind strong so I still want to give it a try. : )

    • Posted on 28 June 2010

The JS is VERY strong and woody…would make a better fall/winter release. Tease is closer to VH, yes — lighter, more floral.

O so you’ve gotten to try Nights? Is it bad? I really want to try it! I love me some STRONG & WOODY!! I wonder how its gonna sell? I dont think her audience is gonna like strong & woody. I wanna smell it so bad!! : )

    • Posted on 29 June 2010

J, I don’t know if it is good or bad. I tried it last week while wearing 4 other things, and my initial reaction was that it is loud, but that’s it so far. It certainly wasn’t love at first sniff. Am out of town at the moment but will spend more time with it next week.

Hahahaa!I told Jon this was VERY loud! Kinda loud like Angel. I didn’t like this AT ALL. It’s a very big departure from her first two scents. The second time, I sprayed it on my hand and I liked it 20 minutes later. The third time, I really liked it 20 minutes later. I’ll be verry surprised if this sells well. She hasn’t been in the fragrance game long enough to do a big switch up like this. This isn’t what we’re used to from her. However, if I can find it for REEEEAAALLLLLLY cheap I would get it, spray it on, take a nap and be ready to go when I wake up. It’ll be ready to wear by then ;)

Fancy Nights is fine. It is loud but definitely not the loudest thing ever! I like it. It isnt bad at all. I know Ive smelled something like it b4. I have no clue how this one is going to sell? Her audience isnt this old is it? I think a guy could pull Nights off. I give her props for trying something different. Nice job Jess. : )

I just tried this at Ulta yesterday, and I actually really liked it! I’m going to put it on my Christmas wish list….and actually, while I was roaming around shopping while testing a spritz of it on my hand, two sales associates at one of the stores stopped me and asked me what perfume I was wearing, and they just couldn’t stop exclaiming how good it was! I had barely any doubts about wanting a big bottle of this, but now even those few doubts are gone thanks to my experience yesterday! :)
