Laboratorio Olfattivo Alambar, Alkemi, Cozumel & Daimiris ~ new fragrances

Laboratorio Olfattivo

Laboratorio Olfattivo is a new niche line from the Rome-based niche perfume store of the same name. They debut with four fragrances:

Alambar ~ by perfumer Enrico Buccella. “This fragrance is Enrico’s tribute to an icon and its amber-scented world – amber, ambar, alambre, ambra, ambrum, ambarum, Alambar. He has chiselled precious specks together with the golden tears of a divine diva.” With notes of bergamot, cocoa, amber, cinnamon and vanilla.

Alkemi ~ by perfumer Marie Duchêne. “This fragrance is the result of Marie’s experiments in alchemy. Transforming Oriental wood and resin into fragrant gold, she has imbued her creation with echoes of an ancient and magical Egypt, when per-fumum was a gift for the gods.” With notes of ylang-ylang, amber, incense, patchouli, myrrh, atlas cedar, cashmere wood, amber vanilla and sandalwood.

Cozumel ~ by perfumer Marie Duchêne. “Gathering reflections from a past journey, the nose has infused the olfactory pyramid with some Mexican sun, wafts of aromatic herbs mixed with the intimate smell of men’s skin and the wild smells of a distant island.” Featuring bergamot, Vietnamese basil, aromatic notes, clary sage, Indian hemp, blonde tobacco, amber, sandalwood, cedar, incense and tonka bean.

Daimiris ~ by perfumer Pierre Guillaume. “This is Pierre’s olfactory experiment. Fragments of amethyst and purple hues reflected in alcohol – the nose has created a fragrance that captures the womanly caress of velvet and the gaze of a man as he contemplates a woman’s body.” With notes of saffron, cardamom, rum, iris, daim accord, amber and musk.

Laboratorio Olfattivo Alambar, Alkemi, Cozumel and Daimiris are available in 100 ml Eau de Parfum, and can be found now at First in Fragrance in Germany. (via laboratorioolfattivo)

I could not have made up “chiselled precious specks together with the golden tears of a divine diva” even if I tried.

        And their site has more!

guess I better cross “tears of divine diva” off of my La Prix Eau Faux entry

LOL! But the mention of Pierre Guillaume makes me stop giggling. Everything he does is interesting.

Ah, I’m still giggling. He is a good perfumer though.

Yeah, the prose IS a little purple, but the fragrances sound downright wonderful. ;-)

Could be. Could be not. Who knows? I am starting to wonder how many new niche brands one world can sustain.

        I suppose it’ll be Darwin’s law of natural selection, R. ;-)

I wonder if the first one will be at all similar to Theorema. The notes have that kind of vibe, though I suspect it will end up being much heavier.

Hey, we’ve had plenty of intimate smell of women’s skin lately… time for some intimate smell of men’s skin!

Sure they sound good, but I have one thing to say: Perfume Fatigue!

I completely agree: men smell good too!

Men smell really good! I generally prefer them unscented and I have been known to sleep with a sweater or t-shirt worn by someone special, sans cologne.

      Serious perfume fatigue.

Joe, I was reflecting today on your (self-described, I think) rant on how worked up many of us get about each new announcement, and wishing I could adopt your Zen-like perspective. Denyse (bless her nose) has titillated us with the new Duchaufour for MONTHS, and now has just posted a review of a new Duchaufour orange blossom! Yet I’m still working my way through the Eau d’Italie samples… I’d declare a moratorium on testing new frags, but if I don’t keep up with my favorite perfumers/brands, at least, by the time I figure out I love something and decide to buy it, it will already have been reformulated! :-(

Well thanks for the kind words, but I’m a work in progress too! I think a Zen-like perspective is ultimately the only way to deal with perfumes — and also with life!!! — in order to avoid keeling over from chronic anxiety! :D

Well, over the top prose aside, these sound sniffworthy. I like the simple, handsome bottles too.

    • Robin

      Probably sniff-worthy, who knows.

Alambar and Alkemi are screaming my name….

    • Robin
      Posted on 24 March 2010

Luckily none of them are screaming at me — I have too much to test already!

I dunno, I am just so skeptical nowadays of all these “new niche” lines popping up all the time. Most of them are not worth the time of day… I can’t summon up much interest in seeking them out, even if the notes sound okay. I think I”m in serious perfume fatigue and cynicism.

    • Robin
      Posted on 24 March 2010

I am also skeptical. This one might be great, but so many of them, as you say, are not.

“he has chiselled precious specks together with the golden tears of a divine diva”….I love it! I’m such a sucker for purple prose

@ Ami, please definitely no outsource testing to China.

Is it just me or what but has anyone noticed ‘niche’ and ‘bespoke’ are being used for everything from handbags to bowties?
