Christiane Celle’s Calypso brand has streamlined and repackaged the fragrance line, and introduced a new scent for women, Bellini:
Aromatic synergy of fresh citrus, sensual floral and earthy wood tones.
The notes include fruits, peach, frangipani, freesia, jasmine, orange blossom, white musk, amber and sandalwood.

I love the new packaging-might give this a try, it sounds like a soft fresh scent to me.
Does anyone know what frangipani smells like? I think I remember hearing it’s similar to ylang ylang….
It smells like a tropical flower, not sure how to be any more specific than that. Sharper & not as sweet as ylang.

The frangipanis are in full flower here at the moment…the Ormonde Jayne fragrance definitely has a whiff (albeit a bit ‘de-tropicalised’ to my nose, avoiding that drippy sappy thing. In the olden days the ylang ylang essential oil you could buy at the Health shop had the most swoon-inducing aprodisical smell, but my last couple of bottles have smelt thin and a bit smokey. Probably adulterated.
Its so hard to describe a smell, like describing a primary colour!

I remember smelling frnagipani for the first time when I was a teenager. A gnetleman brought some to me where I worked and i thought it was the most heavenly thing I’d ever smelled. I still wouldn’t go out with him though…:-)
