Bunch o’ limited edition collector bottles 2010, part 4

More limited edition collector fragrance bottles, with the usual disclaimers: in most of these cases, the juice is unchanged, just the bottle is “special” (or not, as the case may be), and some of these may not be available in the US.

Oh, they’re all pretty! Except maybe that Hugo Boss pendant, but I rebel against displaying the designer name so prominently on any wearable article. (I am, apparently, a dedicated reverse snob.) Boy, that AdP bottle is gorgeous…

I esp. love that AdP bottle…they did another in 2008 but this is even prettier.

Total agreement!!! The only good thing about so much celeb soup on the market is that it makes things easier on the wallet to save for gems like these! :-)

    Love the EL pendant!

Me too…that would be really handy. More than I’d pay for it though.

Is this the first time EL has done Bronze Goddess in a solid? I wonder if the lasting power will be any better? I’m really hoping they bring out a stronger concentration of BG as it’s one of my favourites but doesn’t last that long on me.

I”m sorry to say I’m not sure — I can’t remember one though.

Iris Nobile is luscious in any shape or form. Aaah.

Ooooh, I wonder how that shimmery NR Essence looks on skin? It could either be really subtle and pretty, or very disco diva drag queen…

I need to replenish my Shalimar EdP as I’m running a little low & find that bottle at least intriguing.

EL never fails to produce lovely solid compacts.
I have a question for those of you who use solids, especially if you have both solid and liquid versions. Do all solids wear close to the skin? Do you get good sillage especially in comparison to a spray edt/edp? I’m one of those who like to be able to smell what I’m wearing – and yes, I do occassionally tuck a piece of scented cotton pad in my bra to promote the “upward” wafting effect!

I do find that all other things being equal, they do wear closer to the skin than a spray.

Agreed. Alcohol enables edts and edps to project themselves and radiate quite a bit; a wax based perfume solid will tend to be ‘quieter’ and more subtle.

The only solid vs liquid comparison I can make is with Pacifica. The solid wore considerably closer to the skin (i.e you have to pute your nose right up to your arm) but lasted about the same amount of time. I don’t know if it gets any better with more expensive perfumes.

Thanks for the input, all. I’m finding some nice solid versions of fragrances that are priced significantly more reasonably than the spray bottles, so will go ahead and buy. Guess then I will assume I’m buying the solids for the post-alcohol-evaporation effect and rub liberally!

I would caution against the shimmering Essence, in case anyone was tempted. I once bought a very similar-looking limited edition shimmering Clinique Happy (ah, them pre-perfumista days), and the shimmer managed to block the spray mechanism within days. ‘Course, I bought it at a duty free somewhere, so no returning either. Bummer.

Despite my penchant for minimalism, that Shalimar bottle looks really attractive!

Thanks! Don’t know how common a problem that is.

Does that mean that Bronze Goddess is back in stores? I missed out last year and have been kicking myself ever since.

Yes, the liquid too! I know Dillards has it, haven’t looked around to see who else.

Yay! I just got my email from EL and it’s definitely out – now I just have to see where I can score the best GWP. I think that Macy’s has a good one right now.

Oh, did it used to be an LE? I thought it was so popular and everywhere.

IIRC, this is the 3rd year in a row they’ve released it in the spring as an LE. It does seem to sell out each time.

I bought a bottle of BG at Macy’s in Portland, OR on Wednesday.
They had just gotten the shipment in and hadn’t opened the box yet.
      So it’s out there!

My local Lord & Taylor (New Jersey) has the BG tester out since last week and they do have bottles in stock.
