I think this is their 3rd or 4th collector bottle. But hard to say what that means — could be it’s doing well and they want to strike while the iron is hot?

Wow. That is exactly how the bottle struck me, but I didn’t really know why. They don’t really go together. I have Guerlain’s Vetiver pour Elle which is in the Imperial Bee bottle, and it comes with a tiny bulb atomizer (along with a warning not to use it very much because of evaporation) and it looks wrong to me. I don’t know if the original had a bulb, but this one just looks wrong on that handsome bottle. The bulb atomizer bottle of Les Secrets de Sophie looks right because the bottle was designed to have it and has lots of other frou-frou touches. I love bulb atomizer, but I don’t have a single one (save the one mentioned above which I don’t use). Maybe I should just order a couple of empties to put out on my dresser. I can always fill them with coloured water or old perfumes that have already turned.

I usually love the visual appeal of a bulb atomizer, but this looks… weird. The lined Sensuous bottle by its lonesome is lovely in its minimalism, the bulb on its own merits is a great plush purple and has great rococo-froufrou appeal, but the twain shall never meet. The combination looks like a sphinx gone wrong: the parts just don’t go together.

Whenever I see many limited edition/flankers for a fragrance that *just* came out (like the MaDame) it makes me think that the original isn’t selling well and they need some gimmick fast.

I was just at Sak’s and they had a limited edition of Eau des Merveilles that had a silver stars mobile thing in it. I think the bottle is the same and that was something included to hang up? Maybe it is something in the bottle. I’m not really sure.

I’m feeling grouchy about the prices we pay here. Like I wanted to get the Chanel no.19 a couple of weeks ago and it was $168 for 50 ml edt. Or was it 30 ml? Can’t quite remember. Either way, too much!

65 euro for the EL? Probably $165 here. The prices we pay for perfumes here in New Zealand is really annoying.
