Help if you can

You can donate $10 to the American Red Cross for relief efforts in Haiti by texting “HAITI” to 90999, or donate $5 to Yele Haiti by texting “Yele” to 501501.

Here are links for: Oxfam America, Doctors Without Borders, Unicef. Other organizations suggested by Charity Navigator include Convoy of Hope and Direct Relief International. Please note that many of these organizations are receiving lots of internet traffic today, so pages may be slow to load.

Thanks for posting this. I feel so bad… I can’t imagine a less deserving place to be saddled with yet another disaster. I posted the text thing on my Facebook as well. I figure the very LEAST I can do is contribute the cost of a tiny decant, but of course that’s up to everyone personally.

Also, Direct Relief is based in my local area; it’s a great org.

Glad to hear about Direct Relief, thanks, and thanks for spreading the word. Some days it is hard to stay on subject.

I feel the same regarding the string of bad luck with haiti.
It seems like an endless curse.

I will be contributing probably through my local red cross.
Watching the news today while visiting my parents, I spontaneously started praying for the victims and their loved ones, and will continue to do so.

Very good of you to post these links Robin – thank you. The toll is staggering – so much devastation – heartwrenching.

If $100 is the new “free” for a bottle of perfume, then surely we (or many of us) can donate that amount to help alleviate this massive suffering. Thank you for the links Robin.

Thanks so much for shaairning these links…I sponor a child in Haiti through Compassion International, and they are desperate, desperate for donations. Any help is so appreciated…..to any charity. I hope to hear soon that my little girl is well and safe.

This country is the poorest in the Western Hemisphere…so even in the good times, they struggle mightily.

    Bless you all for caring!

Thank you, Robin, for posting this here and spreading the word for help. It’s such a tragedy for Haiti, who has had such a difficult history. My daughter’s in charge of handling news stories for her class this week and she’s taking in a story from Life Kids and a request for the twins’ school to start a canned food/blankets/toiletries drive.

We’re a bit strapped at the moment but The Ceo and I are going to go donate blood tomorrow. I was on the Red Cross site last night and they said one pint can help three people, so we’re doing what we can. My heart breaks for the island and her people. I’ll get these links up on our FB pages as well.

Thank you for posting this, Robin. I shared the texting info with co-workers. We thought that was a great idea and were happy to be able to do something to help.
