Dear Santa.. :D These are all beautiful! I wish L’Air worked on me like it does for so many others; that packaging is just gorgeous.

      It is lovely!

I’m almost ready to buy L’Air unsniffed because of all the love it gets. What happens to it on you?
I addition to perfume (and yarn, and origami paper, and Newfoundland dogs, and a zillion other things) I have a serious weakness for little boxes. That box filled with perfume makes me swoon.

Oh, nothing terrible…don’t let me stop you! I just find it a little too dry compared to some similar scents I’ve tried. I like it, just like others better, and have sorely limited funds.

I definitely recommend a decant or at least a sample first, Julia. I own it (luckily I scored a partial bottle buy) but don’t wear it often — it’s lovely and made me kind of swoon when I first smelled it, but it can be “difficult” to wear all day because, to me, it’s very strong and sort of “heavy.” If you’re able to sample, I recommend it.

Thanks, Joe. I think I will put together a little sampler of my own because there are several I would like to try. I’m also trying to make myself understand that often an 8-15ml decant of something is all I really need.

I do love DL & Co’s candles. Their Japanese Pear candle for Memoirs of a Geisha was lovely. And that perfume solid sounds beautiful, though I’ve never smelled the fragrance.

I have still never tried one, although I know they have lots of fans.

  3. Posted on 24 November 2009

Wow, that Tauer chest is STUNNING. What a lovely gift (not for me, unfortunately, as I’ve “gifted” myself quite enough lately and there’s no one *other* than myself who I could convince to give me that :D ).

    • Robin
      Posted on 24 November 2009

Isn’t that a great idea? Perfect fit w/ the scents, too.

      Posted on 24 November 2009

Not that I want to be enabling anyone or anything, but I, personally, have moved from “gifting myself” to “spending my future tax return early.” Not nearly as selfish!

        Posted on 24 November 2009

Hey, you were going to buy L’Air as a gift anyway, right? :D

          Posted on 25 November 2009

Of course, I already bought it, before I knew about the lovely wooden box. Dang.

Creative logic is MY FAVORITE :D

That Bond spray is mighty cute.

Ohhh- I’m in total love with the Quelques Fleurs gift. Wouldn’t mind having the Aromatics Elixir solid either. I think I’m reaching maximum density on the perfume bottles though….

I love solid compacts. Hope EL is going to do some new ones this year!

        Posted on 25 November 2009

Me too! I saw the Neiman Marcus EL compacts-there a stocking with a teddy bear poking out of the top, I think the scent is Beautiful. Sooo adorable…..

          Posted on 25 November 2009

I’ll have to go peek, thanks!

Goodness – I want one of each!

    • Zazie
      Posted on 24 November 2009

Rustic, me too!! Except the Bond n 9 maybe: great packaging (as usual) but the fragrances…. The only one I liked so far is not even listed…:(

      • RusticDove
        Posted on 24 November 2009

I haven’t been moved to try any of the Bond’s yet, but I’m sure it’s inevitable that I will some day. ;-)

This is the loveliest group of giftie-ideas I’ve seen. I’m laughing at the name of the Prickly Pear candle, though. Don’t they know that “prickly pears”, aka nopales, are the fruit of a cactus? D & L could have broken new ground with a fragrance composed around cactus blossom and fruit, while the current scent could have been named “poire eau de vie” or some such.

    • Robin
      Posted on 25 November 2009

I don’t know why that candle is called Prickly Pear…it is odd. But it’s a cute candle!

yep, i agree, need to have them all together!!!

      Posted on 25 November 2009

I’ve got so many gift posts this year that I can arrange them by color :-)

    Posted on 24 November 2009

Oh wow. That L’Air du Desert Marocain chest is amazing! I love the solid of Aromatics Elixir too, wonder how tricky it would be to get it to the US….

    • Robin
      Posted on 25 November 2009

I’d be really surprised if they don’t sell that compact here somewhere…I just don’t know where, sorry!

    One of each plz!

    Posted on 24 November 2009

I have to agree, these are all so pretty! I love that little Bond spray thingie — would love having it in Chinatown, or even Lexington Avenue.

    • Robin
      Posted on 25 November 2009

If they had done one in Andy Warhol Silver Factory, I’d have been sorely tempted…lucky for me they did not.

Tauer perfumes were next on my sampling list. Ive never heard of that kind of wood before. It would make a beatiful inlay for a ring or piece of jewelry. I wonder what the inside of the box looks like?

  14. Absolute Scentualist
    Posted on 24 November 2009

Hmmm… Maybe I can put a perfume-loving sugar daddy on my list. He buys it for me and I let him smell it once I’ve put it on. That’s an arrangement I could handle. :D

    Posted on 25 November 2009

Wow, what fun…and expense! I may have to save for the Quelques Fleurs solid. That would I have to do to get Santa to bring me that? :)

    • hongkongmom
      Posted on 25 November 2009

goes back to check on quelquefleur..yep good idea…save for this one

oh well, lucky me..can’t wish for anything, as we don’t celebrate…so all i can do is live vicariously through all of you!!!

    • Robin
      Posted on 25 November 2009

We don’t really celebrate this way in my house either…I live vicariously through these posts as well!

  18. Posted on 25 November 2009

Ooh! I love the look of the Bond No.9 pocket spray. And the Clinique compact! Too bad that Aromatics Elixir is a meh scent for me. :)

    • Robin
      Posted on 25 November 2009

It’s not a favorite of mine either, but the compact is adorable.

Why? I’d say now is the time to go with it. :D

Nice to have them all, especially Quelques Fleurs and Bond No. 9, but a little too expensive:-)

    Posted on 25 November 2009

For me, the quintessential holiday scent isn’t pine, or bayberry, or gingerbread…it’s the scent of Satsuma tangerines, which my mother always bought and set out in bowls for family to consume.

The perfume that always invokes this scent memory for me is Diptique’s “Oyedo”. Even though I wear it as a summer scent (because of the citrus) it captures that Satsuma note so well!

Any other Satsuma tangerine fans out there, and scent recommendations??

    • Tama
      Posted on 26 November 2009

Body Shop makes Satsuma stuff – it is one of my favorites of theirs. Oranges and tangerines in general are Christmassy to me.

  22. parfumliefhebber
    Posted on 26 November 2009

You’re right, but I didn’t mean it that way. I meant that I would like to have them, but they are too expensive for me, but dreams are there to be dreamed.
