I really love the concepts and drawings these guys have come up with, but, sorry to say, was disappointed with the samples I ordered – didn’t really like any of them. Shame because I’d like to support such a fun and off-beat venture. Has anyone else who’s tried them got any feedback? Would like to hear what others think…

Not sure what to say except that any regular reader here knows that we announce all sorts of things…in fact, we try to announce *everything* but we obviously don’t manage that because after all, we must do other things, like eat and sleep, on occasion. But certainly, a scent does not need to be by Serge Lutens or Olivia Giacobetti to get announced here, and I don’t see the function of fragrance announcements as involving in any way the protection of readers; if that disappoints you, so be it.

Oh, these are the guys that did those wacky things like Blimey Limey and Commando, right? Hilarious. I still find these funny. Violet Tendencies is a really, really terrific name.

Seeing this “company” here completely nullifies the validity of future blog entries on Now Smell This as far as I’m concerned. I first found this “company” on LiveJournal, and was skeptical from the start. In his own words, this “perfumer” has only been dabbling in perfume for months, and yet felt as though it was fine to go ahead and sell his dabblings to the public, including an absurd $200 charge for a custom scent. There is no way that this person deserves to be mentioned on a blog that features legitimate perfumers like Serge Lutens, Olivia Giacobetti, and Bertrand Duchaufour. I’m not going to shell out my hard earned money to someone that is obviously unqualified to make perfume and is just capitalizing on the current small-house niche perfume craze, and I would expect that the bloggers at NST would be at least somewhat interested in protecting their readers from this sort of thing.

Now Smell This, I’m disappointed in you.
