Jacques Fath Irissime ~ new perfume

Jacques Fath Irissime

Jacques Fath has launched Irissime, a new fragrance for women that pays tribute to Iris Gris, the line’s “parfum mythique” (Iris Gris launched in 1946 and is long discontinued):

Irissime by Jacques Fath is a mysterious perfume. A couture perfume that exudes absolute elegance and femininity. The fragrance is created around the iris and wrapped in a veil of many noble ingredients. Irissime is a modern, feminine and elegant fragrance with a touch of Paris. As sophisticated as the woman who wears it.

The fragrance notes include bergamot, wisteria, pink pepper, iris, May rose, jasmine, cedar, musk and ambergris.

Jacques Fath Irissime is available in 100 ml Eau de Parfum, €88. It can be found now at First in Fragrance in Germany. (first quote via panouge, second and additional information via first-in-fragrance)

The ad copy may be trying too hard, but the perfume sounds lovely. I do like wisteria and ambergris, though could do without the pink pepper. I imagine the iris and ambergris would be stunning together.

Don’t know why, but this one is not singing to me.

Perhaps it’s because it’s trying to be the younger sister of Iris Gris when the former is now a mythological perfection in the eyes of many perfumistas?

Perhaps, but I do not at all assume that I’d love Iris Gris.

let’s see. no vanilla, chocolate, caramel, or berries. pink pepper, check *shakes fist*. griping aside, sounds like it could be very nice indeed.

      It does, sort of.

I thought it looks like Kate Moss’ newest spawn.

I’m hoping it’s less “pays tribute”, and more “exactly like” because, WANT.

I think it’s already been reviewed at Grain de Musc, and is more on the tribute end of things, sorry!

Sounds like a very contemporary take – and it makes me suspicious when I see iris listed third in the order after pink pepper. (I’d be happy if they’d banned pp instead of oakmoss!) That said, being an iris maven I long to sniff it. I imagine the ambergris makes it smell more classic. Wonder if it will show up at TPC.

I would think TPC would get it, if they don’t have it already!

I’ll second the pink pepper ban. ;)

Andrea D, I’m with you, but I think Grain de Musc said that it’s quite an exaggeration to say that this pays tribute to Iris Gris. Still, it might be pretty nice, who knows, and that’s a pretty reasonable price point.

I’m finding that bottle a little too too for my taste.

      Agree on the bottle.

For a bottle that really doesn’t have much bling, it is still somehow overly bling-y.

This has been on my “must sample” list since it was first announced as I’ve never had the pleasure of smelling Iris Gris. I realized that it wouldn’t be a dupe, but was hopeful after reading all of the raptures on the original that these people could make a sensational perfume. However, the list of notes certainly don’t match the description: “wrapped in a veil of many noble ingredients”. Maybe we’ll be very pleasantly surprised.

I’ve never smelled IG either. Not everyone I know who has smelled it has loved it.

It seems to me they took the safe route instead of releasing the original. The original formulation of Iris Gris was hardly outdated.

I’m more intrigued to try the original “Iris Gris” of 1946. I wonder what the differences are between the two…

From what I can see, all they have in common is iris.

Is it me, or does the bottle look like a spaceship? Maybe I’ve been watching too many classic sci-fi movies….

LOL…I think you’ve been watching too many movies!
