Mariah Carey Forever ~ new perfume

Mariah Carey Forever fragrance

Mariah Carey will launch Forever, her latest perfume for women, in September. The title is from a 1996 Mariah Carey song of the same name; Forever will debut at around the same time as Carey’s upcoming album, Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel:

Forever is the latest creation by Mariah Carey. Forever opens with fresh watery nuances, which later blends with tuberose and gardenia aromas. The fragrance rounds off with exotic woods and white musk leaving a trail of chic sophistication.

Mariah Carey Forever will be available in Eau de Parfum and Parfum; I will update with sizes when I find them. (via dutyfreemagazine.ca)

Update: Mariah Carey Forever is a “modern opulent floral” developed by perfumer Olivier Gillotin; the notes include neroli, lotus blossom, dewy green apple, tuberose, gardenia, white musk and exotic woods. It will be available in 30, 50 and 100 ml Eau de Parfum ($42-65) and in 15 ml Parfum ($250).  (via wwd)

Another update: see a review of Mariah Carey Forever.

*yawn* There needs to be a watery/white floral/woody category all on its own. This sounds identical to so many other celebrity frags out now… Didn’t her first fragrance have tuberose or gardenia and exotic woods? Pass.

Also sounds an awful lot like Marc Jacobs. Will be surprised if it’s that nice though.

I’m a Mariah fan so although it doesn’t sound like anything new, I am still intrigued. Hopefully it will be better than Luscious Pink!

Onyxparadise: I’m a big Mariah fan so I’m pretty excited about this one. I happen to love white florals so I’m hoping this one will be good. And I LOVE that she named it after “Forever.” I agree, Luscious Pink was a bit of a disappointment. It was much too forgettable for Mariah to put her name on. Lovely packaging though.

I don’t even know where to start with the snarky remarks (sorry, Onyx), so I’m going to be lazy and just let someone else do it.

I actually *have* been sick this week, so there you go. Unfortunately my “snark on command” mechanism is affected by the illness, or I’d have some snide tidbit to offer. Maybe as the day goes on I’ll have at least a small burst of sarcasm…

Uh-oh, watery nuances ruin it for me usually. I actually liked M [I feel like I just made a terrible confession - I think it was the 'toasted marshmellow' note that really sucked me in haha], but the purple butterfly bottle was too too for me [even tho I purchased a bottle and keep it hidden]. I never even tried the Lucious Pink. At least this bottle is not another butterfly – and I like butterflies – but in a more natural form, I guess.

I kind of like the watery part of Marc Jacobs, so we’ll have to see how it’s handled here. Do not like that bottle though.

She does seem to like everything gaudy, in your face and over the top – subtlety is just not her style.

It reminds me of something that would have been marketed in association with “Dynasty” in the 80′s. Or am I just thinking of Forever Khrystal?

It does remind me of Elizabeth Taylor’s “Passion” fragrance bottle.

That butterfly bottle was um, sort of suggestive, wasn’t it? Reminded me a bit of some of Georgia O’Keeffe’s paintings of flowers – went to the National Gallery as a teenager, with a friend, and I remember turning to her and gesturing to the enormous canvas and saying, “Is it just me, or does that sort of remind you of… you know… the chapter on reproduction in the health class textbook?”

Oh Mariah! I hate that i love your fragrances…… M was astonishingly, Incredibly well done i think, I was distressed to the point of vexation that the first time i smelled it i was immediately smitten, even with that childish Purple bottle! I SOOOOO Wanted to hate it (toasted marshmallow note, anyone!?!?!?) Because i just really can’t take her for more than 11 1/2 seconds, But i LOVE IT! it’s really good! and Luscious Pink (OHMYSWEETJESUS! WHAT A SILLY NAME!) was also Very well done, had an almost Pink Grapefruit-y thing going on that i adore!

This, inexorably it would seem, also sounds like it will be worth the money to buy! the bottle is again, a MASTERPIECE of Inanity but the juice can always justify a trite bottle! I don’t know, maybe she has higher standards for Perfume than she does her songs or own personality…. whoknowswhocares!?!?! LOL! I just know i will be waiting to get a good sniff on this one and if it is as good as the others, another silly Mariah Fragrance will be purchased!

    Oh Woe Is ME! LOL

Why are we so obsessed with Mimi?

        Posted on 13 August 2009

I was just going to say, why do people call her Mimi? I don’t get it.

        • Posted on 14 August 2009

I think it was something she did – some album name or whatever with “Mimi” in it. My guess it was in hopes of fans using it as a nickname, the way Jennifer Lopez adopted “J.Lo”, but I could actually just be making that up entirely.

I didn’t even know she had perfumes. I might have to head out and sniff some of these.

Robin, I’m scared! This is one of my most anticipated fragrances since True Star Gold :( . The TUBEROSE scares me! I hate it! Tuberose dominates over everything, and it makes whatever fragrance become the typical tuberose fragrance! (Juicy Couture, Velvet Tuberose, Christina Aguilera Inspire, Covet Pure Bloom, EVERY MICHAEL KORS FRAGRANCE, etc) The only fragrance you can’t really smell the Tuberose in is Bond’s Chinatown scent. I’m scared!

Hi everyone. I did a quick sniff today. If you like a flowery smell you will like this one. It does smell like a lot like gardenias. It is better than Luscious Pink. I like her first one (M) better though.

    Posted on 3 September 2009

Well, I bought it yesterday, Sept. 2, and it is very different from her last two. I guess it’s time for me to switch up and do something new. I have so many sweet scents. Why not try a floral? I sprayed it on me at about 7:00 p.m. It’s now 2:36 a.m and I can still smell it on me. I’ll wait a few times to judge on the lasting power, though. It seems that the first time I wear something it always lasts on me, but after that a lot of them start to wear off quickly.

I was REALLY afraid to smell this when I walked up to it at Macy’s. Tuberose scares me. I don’t hate it, but I don’t exactly love it, either. (HAHAHA, Robin! YES, I stole that from you ;) Tuberose just has a tendency to overpower all of the other notes in a scent, and that I DO hate, so unless the tuberose is tame in a scent, I try to steer clear! It’s very tame in here, THANK GOODNESS! Scents usually stay the same on my, but this one has been changing ever since I sprayed it on. At first, you can smell a little of the Tuberose, then you start to smell other things. Things I can’t quite place. I can’t WAIT til’ your review on this, Robin. I think you’re gonna like this one! I love this scent. I love Luscious Pink more, at the moment, but I love this scent more than M by Mariah Carey.

Finally got to try this at Macys 2day and its really really nice! I like it alot! It reminds me so much of Marc Jacobs for women. I do like the bottle in person. Its different. My mom who told herself shed never wear a celeb scent in a million yrs absolutely loves it!!! I was totally shocked! She says she wants it for her 50th in Nov! Its a lovely scent and I have to give it to M and EA. Nice job!

I would like to lodge a complaint. After purchasing a 30ml sealed box of Forever to give to my wife for a Christmas present. I discovered, to my discust that the bottle was empty and because there was absolutely no smell to the empty bottle, I assume there has never been any! I purchased this at Myer in Frankston, Victoria Australia. Being perfume, I did not see the need to retain my receipt and because of this, Myer are refusing to honor my request for a replacement bottle. The Box in which the perfume was purchased and presented was completely sealed in plastic when I gave it to my wife on Christmas morning. I was extremely embarrassed and would like to have someone contact me in relation to this. The box and bottle are still in my possession and I invite any examination to prove that it has never contained any substance (other than air).

    Thank you for your consideration.

    • Robin
      Posted on 31 December 2009

I’m afraid we aren’t associated in any way with Mariah Carey or Myer, so we can’t help you.
