Scented jigsaw puzzles

Yankee Candle Jigsaw Puzzles

Yankee Candle and Hasbro have teamed up to create a series of scented jigsaw puzzles:

New YANKEE CANDLE SCENTED PUZZLES combine America’s Best Loved Candle scents with America’s favorite name in family games and puzzles. Puzzlers of all abilities will be “wowed” by the subtle pleasant scents of classic Yankee Candle fragrances such as MacIntosh(R) Apple, Clean Cotton(R), and MidSummer’s Night(R) while piecing together the three new puzzles.

[...] The first puzzles being released by the companies include a scene of apple orchards infused with the crisp scent of MacIntosh(R) apples; a children’s tea party accompanied by the fresh fragrance of Clean Cotton(R); and an image of galloping horses alive with the intriguing scent of MidSummer’s Night(R). The puzzles were created by one of the best die designers in the world and include unique pieces in the well-known shape of the classic Yankee Candle jar. The fragrance is subtly released as you work on the puzzle.

Look for the puzzles at the Yankee Candle website starting in the fall; they will retail for $9.99 each. New puzzles will be added to the collection every few months. (via prnewswire)

Midsummer Night is a nice candle scent of Yankee Candle’s – it’s sort of a summer floriental.
Not sure I like the puzzle concept, tho. . .

Not sure I like it either, but it’s a fun novelty I guess?

Oh, my seven-year-olds will love these. They still have fun with scratch and sniff books, and are always the first to pounce on the new Yankee catalog when it arrives. DL & Co. should offer these given their fabulous candle fragrances, though something tells me their pictures likely wouldn’t be appropriate for younger children. :) I still love them anyway.

Your seven year olds love Yankee Candle? Nice that they’re into fragrance already!

Oh they love it. I am pretty fussy about most of their scents (the ones I like usually get discontinued i.e. lemongrass & violetleaf, peppermint cocoa, sweet violets), but ever since we were brave enough to take them in with us once upon a time, they wanted to smell *everything*, and are quite the little fragrance fanatics themselves. But yeah, the catalog’s usually quite rumpled and scented pages thoroughly scratched by the time I get a hold of it. They also like Voluspa. Good taste already.

My daughter loves to go to Macy’s with me and smell the test cards/strips, and my son always wants to kiss and *smell* me good morning then ask what I’m wearing. Today it’s Eau d’Hadrien, and he asked if I’d been into “Daddy’s cologne.” :) I’ve been known to do that from time to tine, so I suppose it’s a fair question, considering I help him pick out cologne, too.

Oh, that’s so fun! My son couldn’t care less…or rather, he’d prefer there was no fragrance in the house at all.

I smelled some DL & Co. Modern Alchemy candles last time I was in Urban Outfitters, and Speakeasy smells really really goooooooood

The store is too highly scented for me, but I’ve had at least 1 YC candle that I did like. Can’t remember what it was though.

Fantastic! This is the type of product that ends up at the Yankee Candle outlet for $2 or free with purchase. I can wait…

    *scratching head*

And, this is a tangent, but I can no longer see a Yankee Candle store without remembering this story from “The Onion” (which is fictional, of course!):

Ack, I’ve actively disliked YC since they bought out Illuminations and then buried them. Illuminations had some kick a$$ scents – Thai Market, Acacia, Pomegranate… I didn’t even want to wear perfume when I was burning them!

The horse puzzle reminds me of the amazon.com cult fave 3 wolves tee. :)

Sorry, didn’t even know about Illuminations.

I used to love YC until I discovered Voluspa. Actually, I still think they do some good scents (sage & citrus), but I’m not sure where I’d see them since there’s no shop nearby and Linens & Things has gone out of biz. If I had known they had a violet leaf at one time I might have bought out the shop. I used to love their lilac tea lights, actually. Puzzles? Hm. Glad there are kids like those above who would love such things.

Same…I mean, not about the Voluspa but I too used to love YC before I got into perfume and found better brands.

I love to do jigsaws and my sister and I always do them when we are together but I think poring over a scented puzzle for hours would definitely induce a headache or nausea or generalized temporary anosmia or something bad.

Same here… we love to do puzzles as a family; even the youngest one joins in. But not scented ones :D

We do 1000 piecers in the winter…but yeah, hours hanging over the scented puzzle would make me nauseous for sure.

We do puzzles at the beach, but nowhere else. Already smells good enough at the beach :-)

‘Fraid I have to hold my breath and scuttle past the Yankee Candle section whenever I’m at Bed, Bath & Beyond…
