Christina Aguilera By Night ~ new perfume

Christina Aguilera By Night perfume advertChristina Aguilera By Night fragrance

Pop singer Christina Aguilera will launch Christina Aguilera By Night, her third fragrance under arrangements with Procter & Gamble, in September. The new scent for women is a flanker to her eponymous fragrance, Christina Aguilera, and is meant to be a sultry version for evening wear.

The fragrance notes include mandarin, freesia, rhubarb, peach blossom, pineapple, heliotrope, vanilla, moss and sandalwood.

Christina Aguilera By Night will be available in 15, 30 and 50 ml Eau de Parfum and in matching body products. I do not know if it will launch in the US, but I would be surprised if it did since the original Christina Aguilera scent did not. (via parfumerie.nl)

Is the bottle saying Armani Code to anyone else?

A little, because of the way they did the graphic elements. But it’s the same bottle as the first one, just different decoration.

If Armani Code got on with Agent Provocateur in a low-rent hotel room, I think this would be the result.

I have many flankers but I do prefer it when something new is brought out! I love the first one and Inspire finaly grew on me last week, so I’ll definitely try this one!

Wonder if they’ll do a flanker for Inspire next?

        that’d be such a “Britney-move” or “J.Lo-move”. with all their flankers….lol

I didn’t know until Ed McMahon’s obit that CA got her break on ‘Star Search.’

Oh how I wish every launch was available in 15ml, 30ml, 50ml.

    Pardon the stream-of-consciousness thoughts…

I did not know that either! Actually, I’d forgotten about Star Search entirely. RIP Ed McMahon.

Bill got his start on Star Search too.
He sang “It’s Raining Men” because he’s awesome.

Christina has such a great voice and she is the HBIC, but most of her songs are so *boring*. I have the feeling her perfumes would be too.

And the german singers “LaFee” and “Mandy Capristo” were also on Star Search. I think we can find a lot of singers who had started their career at a Casting Show, if we want ;-)

The first CA perfume is nice but the lasting power is so poor. And the second one (Inspire) is very boring. I dont expect so much of By Night. Propably another fruity/floral.

I know who LaFee and Mandy Capristo are. I even know the names of the other Monrose members.

info like that rarely filters down under this rock (the one I live under). The first I ever heard of C.A. was when she sang for the Disney movie Mu-lan ….she has a lot more talent than many realize what with all famous/edgey/gimmicky trappings that surround her. btw…we have a large burnished copper colored butterfly Koi named Mushu after the “travel-sized” dragon in the movie. Oh, and the fragrance actually sounds ok too. ;-)

I didn’t even know there was a first fragrance! I thought Inspire was it. Wow.

Well, maybe it’s me, but there’s nothing about those notes that says “night” to me. Maybe she spends her nights rolling in fruit?

IIRC, she also had a few before that one, they just weren’t by P&G and they weren’t widely distributed.

FRUIT!!! I do like me a fruity floral now and then… but if I happen to be wearing something classic and beautiful when I read about some new celebuscent launch, I’m even less interested than I normally would be.

Am I jaded already, or do the tried-and-true classics just really kick the crap out of most department-store new releases?

Is the proliferation of new low-to-middle budget scents (as opposed to niche and classic perfume house scents, which seem to be pretty productive on their own) akin to the proliferation and market-splitting of TV stations?

Why am I being so philosophical? When will I just learn to stop asking stupid Why Do The Idiot Screw Things Up questions and just enjoy my No. 5 parfum?

    • mals86

And that would be Why Do the IdiotS Screw Things Up, obviously. Serious case of TWA (Typing While Annoyed).

I believe Celine Dion lost on Star Search. Didn’t Ed Mcmahon host that?
Strange that he’s dead, and now Micheal Jackson who I believe was misunderstood. I hear celebrities die in threes, who am I missing?
        Mey, on By Night/

Most people here in UK prefer Christina Aguilera original to Inspire… this will probably do quite well but can’t say I’m very bothered by it… eager to smell the Halle Berry fragrance when it arrives here!

    • Robin

I liked Inspire better, but neither was a masterpiece so it’s splitting hairs…

      I tested HALLE yesterday.
It’s been released in Boots (no big displays yet).

It’s quite nice. Think I’d really like it in cooler weather.

And, yeah,I did prefer Christina’s first P&G one.
I wouldn’t buy it though, but this ‘night’ one with added rhubarb sounds interesting…

Not one to seek out celebrity fragrances and will most likely skip this. As a former P&G employee (and current shareholder), would like to see the company get serious about fragrance.

Recently, a friend gave me her sample of Halle and I accepted it to be nice. But much to my surprise, it wasn’t awful and I liked it! Not in love with it, mind you, but it’s rather pleasant and lasts a while. Have worn it quite a few times over the past few weeks but when the sample is gone, I don’t think I’ll buy a full bottle. Guess it’s more of a summer fling for me.

The more scents I try, the fewer I like. I wonder why that is. Am I more discerning in a good way or a bad way?! At one time, I could smell most anything and enjoy it somewhat. Now, I stick my nose up at lots of stuff. Just hope I’m not getting snobby about it!

    • Robin
      Posted on 26 June 2009

I thought Halle was really well done.

And I’d say “more discerning in a good way”, of course!

Another former P&G employee here with lots of love for the exec marketing team, but sympathy for what has been churned out lately… I’m a genuine fan of their Gucci line (with the exception of Envy Me) and wish we would see more on that end… although, the Christina Aguilera and P&G inside anecdotes are so entertaining it’s almost worth another cheap release.

I was going to say celebrity fragrances have no class. Then I realised how many fragrances are celebrity fragrances without claiming to be. Sisley Eau de Soir. Guerlain Vol de Nuit. Catherine Deneuve inspired quite a few frags. So … SOME celebrity fragrances have class after all. My throat clogs at the idea of smelling pineapple. Didn’t J Lo include pineapple in one of her fragrances? And Escada? Nothing against the wonderfully refreshing Ananas Fizz, but the other pineapple concoctions really fizzle out.

Now if Diane Lane, Cate Blanchett or Michelle Pfeiffer released fragrances or their own design, I’ll try them all.

    • Robin
      Posted on 29 June 2009

Well, some celebrities have no class, right? But those seem to sell better ;-)

    • wondermelmo
      Posted on 24 September 2009

You’re right, some do have class, I just wish they weren’t in the minority. The problems seem to arise from creation by committee, a desire to please every 18-year-old, and the fear of being different. (Yet they all claim to be different, non?) Oh and…jumping on some popularity bandwagon, so you get fragrances that are tantamount a selection of Hannah Montana t-shirts in a discount store.

Was that me? Enough ranting! On a another note, Miami Glow had tons of pineapple, Deseo not as much I think, but I must admit to finding Deseo to be a really nice fragrance.

      • Robin

I thought Deseo was really well done.

    Good Morning,
I went to Christina Aguilera’s perfume website, and there was nothing there that indicated if this new perfume was going to be released in the USA, or where to buy it.
Has anyone had any update on this? I know her first, self-titled perfume was not sold in the states.

    • Robin
      Posted on 2 October 2009

Sorry, I don’t know anything new but I really doubt this will be officially released here.

Didn’t like the scent at all, found it horrible. Before I even saw the sales manager she sprayed the scent (a lot) on me. She even didn’t ask me. The first thing I did at home was to take a shower, my jacket went into the washmaschine.

This and the first Christina Aguilera are available for Pre-Order on her website. They’ll be released June 15th, the day of her album. There’s also a shot of them in her new video side by side. Looks like this is FINALLY getting a U.S release! How crazy! I e-mailed P&G about this on Friday! I wonder if it’ll be in Macy’s and other stores!

Saw that! Did not think the original CA was all that great…
