Ricci Ricci by Nina Ricci ~ new perfume

Nina Ricci Ricci Ricci perfumeNina Ricci will launch Ricci Ricci, a new perfume for women, in September.

Ricci Ricci is an urban heroine.

She is glamorous and audacious.

She has a secret power: her fragrance – symbolized by her ribbon.

Ricci Ricci features notes of rhubarb zest, bergamot, moonflower, tuberose, centifolia rose, patchouli and sandalwood.

Ricci Ricci by Nina Ricci will be available in 30, 50 and 80 ml Eau de Parfum and in matching body products. It is now available for pre-order at Escentual in the UK. (via escentual)

Also new from Nina Ricci: L’Air du Printemps, Love by Nina.

Update: Ricci Ricci was developed by perfumers Aurelien Guichard and Jacques Huclier and is described as a “fresh, floral sensual fragrance”. (via moodiereport)

Another update: From Women’s Wear Daily ~

Whereas Nina’s core age target is 18 to 25, Ricci Ricci’s is expected to be the 20-to-45 set, said [Puig brand officer José Manuel] Albesa. “It’s a very ‘gourmand’ fragrance,” he explained.

It’s good to know that her secret power is symbolized by the pink ribbon, I might have mistakenly associated it with her cat-ears, driving gloves or evening gown! If she’d turn around, maybe there’s a cat-tail too.
Ok, now that I’ve had my fun….I’d actually like to smell this…the rhubarb zest and moonflower (?) sound intriguing…of course I’m always willing to give something with bergamot a go and I’ve recently discovered that some tuberose IS my friend!

Whuh huh huh?? I don’t get it either.

uh…yeah….and my fragrance is symbolized by…..my garden shovel that I keep in the garage….or…this lava lamp I keep on the bookshelf… how very random of them!

The ribbon thing cracked me up too. Rhubarb = good though. We’ll see. I’m guessing, based on nothing, that this is aimed slightly older than Nina, which could also be good.

        Rhubarb zest?

Implying a citrus aspect mixed with rhubarb?

Sounds a lot like rhubofix to me. I wonder if this will share any aspects with pamplemousse rose.

Do you know if firmenich composed this?

I am amazed at the creativity for the name of the fragrance :P Was Nina Nina taken?

It beats “Nina Ricci Eau de Parfum” — I’m really tired of eponymous scent names.

Finally, someone issuing a 30 ml size! But how do you get zest from rhubarb? It doesn’t have a rind!

Glad I’m not the only one who wondered this. (BTW, when I typed my comment, there weren’t any others, so now I look like a dork for saying the same thing below.)

I wonder if they really mean “stem” ?? or maybe they have a really really really small zester that they’ve rubbed lightly along the leaf….did I mention it’d be a really small zester?

      • miss kitty v.
        Posted on 11 June 2009

Maybe there’s a special Rhubarb Zester one can pick up at Crate and Barrel.

oh yes, I must get one…..you never know when you’re going to be overcome by the urge to zest some rhubarb…..in fact….right now I think I feel …….oh, no sorry , just a small burb….guess that’s what I get for drinking diet soda so early in the day!

LOL! I’m sure it’s just “zesty rhubarb” — maybe it’s that same rhubofix that’s in Hermes Pamplemousse.

      • Daisy
        Posted on 11 June 2009

ooohhh! Hermes Pamplemousse….lust lust lust lust…..and I finally got hold of a 15ml size of Rose Ikebana (for my daughter who loves it, but I get to steal a spritz now and again) and now I’m already panting over the Pamplmousse!

However—she chose to wear AT Une Rose Chypree over to pick up her diploma today and applied 4 (count ‘em, 4) spritzes and then had to change her shirt because she didn’t realize how very powerful Une Rose Chypree is….my kitchen still smells of it….

Cute, cute bottle! And I’m intrigued by the rhubarb. Excuse me: rhubarb ZEST. (How does one zest a rhubarb? That would be like zesting a celery stick.)

  5. Posted on 11 June 2009

I love Nina Ricci and can’t wait to try the new fragrance, and yes, I’m ready to be disappointed, but I’ll still love Nina Ricci.
Rhubarb has a zest, but it’s thin… but I’d say it’s their way of saying it’s gonna be a fresh and zesty rhubarb. I’m afraid of it, because I hate rhubarb in Brit Red.
Moonflower according to Google could be Ipomoea alba flower or datura…

    • Robin
      Posted on 11 June 2009

Yes, I’m guessing fresh & zesty.

Has anyone tried to Comme des Garcons Rhubarb Sorbet? Just curious. I’ve thought about ordering a sample, but there’s always something else I want that trumps it.

I think Joe has, maybe he’ll pop in for a comment …but it’s still pretty early on the west coast. I’d like to try CdG Rhubarb Sorbet too

        Posted on 11 June 2009

I’ve tried it; I love rhubarb, and grow it in my garden. The CdG smells exactly like rhubarb. Which is a good thing, if you want to smell like rhubarb. I need to order some empty vials, then I’d be happy to send you a sample.

I tried a sample. It wasn’t at all sweet as you might expect from the name, and as I remember the rhubarb faded pretty quickly, but it was interesting while it lasted. Sort of a novelty–I don’t think I’d want to wear it often!

      • Robin
        Posted on 11 June 2009

        Yes, a novelty — I think that’s exactly how it’s intended.

        • miss kitty v.
          Posted on 11 June 2009

I have so much to choose from, I think everything’s a novelty at this point! Long gone are the days of having an everyday scent. Do I miss them? No, no I don’t.

    Posted on 11 June 2009

I’ll have to try this one. It’ll probably be available at dept stores and Sephora, for easy testing, right? I like Rhubarb (that’s one of the top notes in Rose Ikebana I think)– but not sure about tuberose with it. I’m not a huge Tuberose fan (I like it in Michael by Michael Kors, but L’A Tubereuse makes me gag).

    • Robin
      Posted on 11 June 2009

I would think it would be, eventually.

    • Daisy
      Posted on 11 June 2009

Gville–tuberose is funny like that isn’t it? I thought I hated, and by that I mean HATED, because of a previous, unpleasant perfume experience….but then I smelled it in some nicer perfumes and said hey this is alright! So I guess how it’s handled in the formula makes a huge difference. This one might be great! Especially with that zesty rhubarb to cut the cloy-iness of Tuberose.

      • gvillecreative
        Posted on 11 June 2009

It really is a strange note– you never know what you’re going to get when it’s listed. I haven’t found a soliflore that worked for me, but sometimes it’s really nice in a mutlifacted frag. And I would imagine that the rhubarb COULD really balance out that milkiness nicely. So I really look forward to this one.

    • Posted on 11 June 2009

I’m curious about the tuberose. But I’m afraid it’s gonna be the sterile white flower thing we have in every fragrance now. It taught me to really appreciate natural white flowers with all their pros and cons.

    • monstabunny
      Posted on 11 June 2009

Really? In Rose Ikebana? So is the grapefruit I always smell really rhubarb?

No, there’s grapefruit in there too!

I have those gloves!!! at least leather ones that look a lot like them. Got them at Wilson’s Leather , something like $25 on sale. I do feel especially HOT when I don my leather blazer and driving gloves….you know, until I get into my mom-mobile suv…..

Hmmm. So this is aimed at girls who want to be superhero kittens?! And it is so good that they named it twice…apparently.

How exactly is wearing a fake pair of ears glamorous? No wait…I guess I always had a thing for Mr Spock!

So a bit like the Harajuku Lovers then? Except at least the HL scents didn’t pretend to be sophisticated and glamorous! I’m sure the scent will be OK anyway. I’m a fan of Nina Ricci’s Love in Paris. And I’d like to know what moonflower smells like.

Well now…Catwoman was pretty cool, after all. Like the bottle, don’t get the ribbon…basically, ditto everything above. On the tuberose: a week ago it would have been an automatic no-go, but I tried something this week w/o knowing it had tuberose, couldn’t pick it out… so I guess that makes it no longer an automatic no. Only if it’s a central/focus note.

    • Robin
      Posted on 11 June 2009

Ah, good then…it’s a real pain when there a single flower that you have to cross off your list.

      • bergere
        Posted on 11 June 2009

Catwoman was definitely cool. I bet HER power wasn’t symbolized by a ribbon.
The ad doesn’t really say “Catwoman” to me, but “college Halloween party.” I have to say, the “cat chic” has been done to death. You’ve been to one, where the women refused to wear a real costume because the guys couldn’t see how chic and pretty they were–they all wore the little black dresses with cats’ ears and tail.

I’m glad that Ricci is getting out new stuff, so I can have something new to give my mom for her birthday! (she’s a Ricci Fan)

And I’m laughing because in addition to kitty ears, I have elephant ears, bunny ears, and what could maybe be called alien ears (or antennae, I guess). If it comes on a headband, I have it! One more thing to be embarrassed about…

OOOOHHHH MOONFLOWER! haven’t smelled that in a fragrance since WAY back when when the Body Shop did a fragrance based on it! It is a very nice Smell! and I am Adoring the Bottle! sounds like a Zesty Kinda fragrance with some depth, not unusual but sounds good enough to buy unsmelled! Nina Ricci has a pretty good, (well DAMNED GOOD) track record making Excellent fragrances and this might verge on that if done right!

although i do agree… that Catwoman-like ad is too Hilarious!

I sprayed it on my hand, and under the fruits smelt something familiar and “very Nina Ricci”. Now it’s closer to to dry down, and i suddenly recalled: Deci Dela! Are Jean Guichard (Deci Dela’s nose) and Aurelien Guichard related?
