If only it were juice instead of actual tea, I’d be positively drooling over that Miller Harris. Not that I don’t like tea, mind you…but the notes read like a really great scent.

It really does! I’m a huge tea fan though, so drooling over it either way :-)

Yeah… I just don’t see myself spending that much on tea. Otherwise I’d be there too!

I am willing to spend a small fortune on tea, but am oddly cheap when it comes to paying for shipping — so no, but if they ever ship it to the US for free, I’ll buy!

      • Daisy
        Posted on 6 June 2009

I completely understand that! I’m a fiend for reviewing shipping charges and am severely annoyed by stores or ebay sellers who have outrageous shipping and then charge a ton for insurance on top of it! It’s taking a final “dig” at someone …I dunno know just irritates me.

We don’t celebrate Father’s Day, just Mother’s Day.
    poor Daddy

I should get him Ouarzazate, Zagorsk and Jaisalmer incense.

    • Tama
      Posted on 6 June 2009

Daddies deserve to celebrate, too! I still celebrate, even though mine is gone – I take some of his favorite treats to the beach and toss a few into the ocean, where his ashes are floating around.

My dad listens to “Just Dance” and “Poker Face” nonstop, and I was listening to “Summer Boy” and he poked his head in and was like “is that GAAAAAAA GAAAAAAAA?”
maybe I should get him a Lady Gaga cd.
jk I’m tired of her and I’m mad @ her record label

I don’t think my dad knows what she looks like lol

With her natural hair she looks like meeeeeeee. Look up her Lollapalooza 2007 pictures. She definitely isn’t wearing pants there either though.

Not wearing much of anything – lol
But at least she looks good and not freakish.

awww, Tama that is so sweet. My daddy is gone too, makes me tear up just to type it, even though it’ll be 20 yrs this fall….but he and I are/were flower gardeners so I make sure I spend some time just hanging out in the flower beds, cuz if there was anywhere he could be on Daddy’s Day it would be there…..of course he sort of is, since mom spread his ashes over his precious flowerbeds. It’s a bitter sweet thing, you know?

Tama, that is such a wonderful thing.

Boy, if only they made that tea in a perfume! When I first read it I thought it was perfume but then my heart got sad!

    • boojum
      Posted on 6 June 2009

Sounds like we need two petitions. One to MH to please create a frag based on the tea, and one to Luckyscent to please carry that tea. :)

It would be a great scent no doubt!

I like Caron pour Homme for me, it’s a great lavender scent. And am beginning to like Infusion d’Homme better than the Infusion d’Iris. I used to feel meh about Father’s Day fragrance specials until I started wearing so much perfume…….my (very elderly) father lost his sense of smell years ago, and much prefers books to fragrance. :)

    • alltheprettythings
      Posted on 7 June 2009

Rosarita, take on his unwanted fragrances! Give him books and let him ‘gift’ you with his scents!

I LOVE Caron pour un Homme – such a wonderful lavender frag and have many happy memories associated with it. And I was so happy that my husband was as enthusiastic about Prada Infusion d’Homme as I was – I brought him home a bottle, but was fully prepared to wear it myself if he resisted. ;)

Caron Pour Un Homme is wonderful…haven’t smelled it recently though, & hope they haven’t reformulated it to death.

lol –sounds like a good plan to me! I’m not even a guy and I might get myself some of those for fathers day! (any excuse works, really it does)

My dad wore Pour Un Homme when I was a girl. I have loved it since. A few years ago I got him a bottle for Father’s Day. As I think about this, I do believe it was then that I began to love perfume. Funny, it was from my dad, not my mom.

    • Tama
      Posted on 7 June 2009

My Mom likes scent, but my Dad used to buy really good ones for me – our chemistries must have been similar. So, it’s kinda all his fault.

I had a massive perfume-sniffing orgy in NYC yesterday (Aedes, Saks, Takashimaya, Bendels, Bergdorfs, Caron, whew!), and I’ve got to put in a plug for the weird little Caron boutique, which was the only place (along with Aedes) that wasn’t stingy with the samples. The SA there was so gracious, and mmm I am loving Yatagan… Oh, and if anyone loves Alpona, it’s being discontinued, so stock up.

I’ll also put in a plug for the new Miller Harris (Fleurs de Bois), which I didn’t try on skin but which seemed to have a nice sharp, zingy, Bandit-style greenness.

Sorry to ramble off on an only slightly related tangent, but I had so much fun, and I’m feeling the need to share!

    • Robin
      Posted on 7 June 2009

So glad you got to go to Caron! I have not been to the new location but they were always very nice at the old (Madison Ave, I think?) boutique.

Alpona is my favorite of the urn scents, but hear it’s been reformulated so will just live on the memory :-(

But hey, what did you buy??

      • lilydale aka Natalie
        Posted on 7 June 2009

I doggedly resisted the sales pitches (geez, was Sisley ever pushy) and limited myself to a bottle of Bandit from Saks — and I made them open it first to make sure it was a good one. The nicest part was that they threw in a free full-size bottle of the body lotion too, so I don’t feel so bad about paying the department store price for it.

Oh, whoops, I forgot that I ordered Baume du Doge from Aedes (they were out of it). Nevertheless, they’re both things that I was planning to buy anyway, although we’ll see if my new samples ignite any fresh lust!

        • ggperfume
          Posted on 7 June 2009

They gave you the body lotion free? The recession must be making its impact.

          • lilydale aka Natalie
            Posted on 7 June 2009

They were definitely more accommodating than usual; the Saks SAs in particular were really bending over backward. Apparently the Bergdorf’s men’s store and Barneys haven’t received the memo, however — still snooty as ever!

          • alltheprettythings
            Posted on 7 June 2009

Certain stores will give you whatever it takes to make a sale… they’re aware of online discounters and the impact of the Recession and the need to make their sales numbers. My best rec for buying department store frags is Nordstrom. If you ask, they’ll give whatever they have to you. And trust me, they have plenty in the back rooms to give.

            Posted on 8 June 2009

Hate shopping at Barneys, really. Most unpleasant people ever, except at the Malle counter where they’re usually pretty nice.

Yeah, did you buy anything? Nosy minds want to know….

          Posted on 7 June 2009

You did good. I bet the Sisley’s folks are pushing hard…the new Eau de Sisleys are too expensive and they are becoming available for less online….who wants to pay full price? not me!

Good idea opening the Bandit. There’s been so many issues with Bandit lately.

I think I would be more interested if it were 3rd Man. I have Yatagan, L’Anarchiste and 3rd Man, but sold Pour Un Homme because I didn’t like anything about it. I thought the Lavender opening was too harsh and the vanillic drydown was too sickly.

3rd Man on the other hand is a masterpiece, an absolutely beautiful classic.

    • Robin
      Posted on 8 June 2009

I adore L’Anarchiste, like Yatagan, but oddly have never even tried 3rd Man.
