In the early 50' she began to appear as a DJ in nightclubs and became known as "the Queen of the night". In late 50' early 60' she opened "Chez Regine" which became THE parisian nightclub of choice ("a place to be seen for playboys and princes"--the French equivalent of Studio 54) She has/had a chain of "discos" throughout the world--which made her very very rich. I guess the new launch is to coincide with the release of her new CD (Régine's Duets: featuring Boy George, Fanny Ardant, Jane Birkins, Julia Migenes etc...) So your comment about the add being very 1980s disco stuff was actually dead on! I think that was a bit darker, but I HAD to have it. I always wound up with it smeared all over everything - Chanel lipstick is/was so gooey and has that stupid violet smell. I finally got rid of it but I think I still have the nail polish somewhere. I wish nice-looking young men would come up and kiss the back of my neck when I sprayed perfume on.... sigh.
