Michael Kors Very Hollywood ~ new perfume

Very Hollywood Michael Kors fragrance

Michael Kors will launch Very Hollywood Michael Kors, a new “sophisticated floral” for women, this coming September. Kors calls the new fragrance the “most glamorous, indulgent scent we’ve ever done”.

The fragrance notes feature mandarin, iced bergamot, wet jasmine, ylang-ylang, raspberry, gardenia, orris, creamy amber, soft white moss and vetiver.

Michael Kors Very Hollywood will be available in 30, 50 and 100 ml Eau de Parfum and 30 ml Parfum; the bottle is meant to evoke old-fashioned flashbulbs. There will also be a ballpoint pen with scented ink, a cocktail ring with solid perfume, and a matching body lotion. (via wwd)

Update: Very Hollywood Michael Kors is a white floral developed by perfumers Pascal Gaurin and Laurent Le Guernec. According to Mr. Kors, “It’s like a great little black dress. It’s simple, but it’s also obvious that a lot of work went into it.” The prices will range from $45 for the 30 ml to $85 for the 100 ml; the Parfum will be $300. (via cosmeticworld)

A ball-point pen with scented ink! Oh, I like that a lot. How gorgeously Victorian. (Well, maybe the ball-point part isn’t awfully Victorian, but they probably wouldn’t have as much success trying to sell a quill pen and a bottle of perfumed ink. Or would they?)

a scented ink pen? a ring with a secret compartment for perfume? This reminds me of when I was a kid….maybe they could make a necklace with a small flask and a bubble wand….
hey, the ring could be a decoder too…..”wear more michael kors….”

/It actually could be kind of fun. But it somehow makes it a little difficult for me to take them seriously.

There are lots of scented pens around…have never tried one, would like to know how “smelly” they are!

It’s not bad enough that I go around sniffing my wrists and arms? The occasional, surreptitious shirt flap? How bad would it be if I started sniffing the paper I”m writing on? (I’d hate to tip the weirdness scale right into the realm of the totally bizarre…)

You just gave me a flashback to high school when Xeroxed copies would be passed out and we’d all try and get high by sniffing the ink. (This was in the 80s, natch.) The teachers would always have this bewildered look when we’d get all excited for paper handouts. lol I don’t think it’s actually possible to get high from that but for some reason I have very positive memory associations with that smell depsite it reminding me of adolescence!

I remember that smell (although not trying to get high from it) — wasn’t that from the real old-fashioned mimeograph machines? Must investigate.

R, so there are a lot of pens scented with designer fragrance, not just the “black cherry Magic Marker” variety? I’ve never noticed, but it’s a cute concept.

Designer fragrance, no, not that I know of, but you can buy scented fountain pen ink & scented ballpoints can be found.

    WET jasmine. How specific.

Hope it does not mean this is aquatic. Sounds sweet, whatever it is.

I´m also curious at iced bergamot. The ball point does sound interesting though.

Yes, and I want to see that cocktail ring!

Me too! I love the concept of Hollywood glamour, although that is not really my style, and this whole set sounds like fun.

It isn’t really my style either…can see wanting the cocktail ring, but would probably never wear it ;-)

Right! Iced bergamot? The flowers are my favorites, and the base sounds nice, yet…the raspberry terrifies me. Oh well, sounds more interesting than his last few, Might have to try…the ring and pen sound too cute.

My thoughts exactly – all fine, till I saw the raspberry. Small yeek!

The wet jasmine reminds me of the review of Matin d’Orage which described it as “drenched gardenia”…

The ring reminds me of a charming keepsake I have from one of my grandmother’s. It’s a vintage gold toned Toujours Moi cocktail ring, with a raised relief unicorn motif [taken from that famous medieval tapestry] containing solid perfume. It no longer has any scent. I think it’s from the 60′s. I never wear it, even though I like oversized rings – I should sometime.

I haven’t tried any Michael Kors yet at all. Personally, I love the idea of a scented pen and the secret compartment cocktail ring! Much better than a poster and t-shirt! ; ) A gimmick is still a gimmick no matter what it is but at least he’s aiming for a little classy. :)

    • Robin

Agree, I’ll go for a fun gimmick.

Am a Michael Kors Fanatic. Love that this is in a sense a new fragrance, yet it seems like it might be somewhat a flanker to the original Michael Kors scent, (no Tuberose it seems though)

Loved Very Pretty (smelled Sin-Sational!) and Island Bermuda is really well done as well. Michael Kors Makes me smile and love all his fragrances so far… Would hope he would come up with a new IP fragrance though instead of more flankers, though am excited to see what this Years Island Fragrance will be and what color the bottle will be, they have all been so pretty!

They’re billing it as a pillar scent — not a flanker, although they’ve used the “Very” before in Very Michael Kors & Very Pretty Michael Kors.

I wear Michael Kors fragrances, and have serveral of his handbags. My favorite fragrance is Island. I smelled a sample of Very Hollywood from a magazine strip. It smells fabulous! I am definitely going to purchase it from his web site. This one smells like a “winner for sure.!”

Smells just like every M.K scent. TUBEROSE OVERLOAD! My mother loves it, though. She wants me 2 get it for her :)

It’s nicely done, but you’re right…playing in a very small sandbox.

I don’t get it — I thought it smelled like tuberose too, but it’s not listed. Is there tuberose here?

    • Robin
      Posted on 15 September 2009

Tuberose is not listed, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t any in the mix. I thought it smelled like tuberose too, and was suprised when I wore it next to Michael…clearly, it isn’t THAT much tuberose.
