Jean Paul Gaultier Ma Dame Eau Fraiche ~ new fragrance

Jean Paul Gaultier Ma Dame Eau Fraiche perfume

Jean Paul Gaultier has launched Ma Dame Eau Fraiche, a new limited edition summer version of last year’s Ma Dame fragrance for women:

Between fantasy and reality exists an Eden imagined by Jean Paul Gaultier. MA DAME celebrates summer with a lighter, Eau Fraiche, fragrance in a beautiful bottle inspired by Gaultier’s Eden.

The fragrance notes include orange zest, sparkling rose, musk and cedar.

Jean Paul Gaultier Ma Dame Eau Fraiche is available now at Bloomingdales and Sephora; $62 for 100 ml Eau de Toilette. (via sephora)

    That does it–freshness fatigue!

But Ma Dame has hardly been out five minutes! At this rate, they'll be releasing the flankers before the original.

    VG — LOL!

Btw, are you watching Indian Wells Masters? Federer is looking dapper as usual and the big news is he and Mirka (ugh!) are expecting their first child ;-)

The fragrance is a classic example of form over content – all hype. Releasing a flanker is true to form.

    Jealous? Me? Hahaha…

Interesting name, that's for sure. Mind you, 'Roger' isn't exactly a name to get a person excited, is it? (With quick apologies to all the Rogers who post here / are married to Rogers / have named their first-born Roger).

The notes are exactly the same… At least with the Classique summer editions, the juice is different; it seems like this is just a lighter concentration of the same Ma Dame sent.

VG, I'm one of the few perfumistas who liked Ma Dame…so I'm interested in this one — if it's a wee bit less sweet than the original, I can see liking it. That said, the original is neither terribly sweet nor heavy, and if they made this one very “fresh” I'll hate it.

That might be ok with me personally…

True, but I still want to try this one :-)

Robin: Totally second that! Madame is such an easygoing, cheerful, and yet quite unusual fragrance! Body lotion's great, btw.

VG: Nothing against Mirka please! Such a refreshing difference to all those blond-tall-model sports star girlfriends. And kudos to Roger to staying true to her all those years, he seems to understand that a woman's true values are not necessarily blond-tall-skinny. Though I think Mirka looks cute, anyway.

Couldn't agree more – it's great to see a nice, normal, down-to-earth girlfriend sitting there match after match, and a testament to Roger's judgement. And I did like Ma Dame, just not enough to buy it or anything!

Glad to see another fan of Ma Dame — I thought it was really well done. Apparently it sold VERY well despite not being loved on the blogs & forums.

And you guys forced me to google this Mirka person — she's cute as a button, what on earth are you guys talking about?

Just so I'm not posting way off-topic: count me in as another Ma Dame fan, but like with most every other women's perfume I like, I can't get my girlfriend to wear it. Actually, I think I should send in a request on her behalf for Monday Mail posts. Just need to figure out whether I should state my likes or hers :-)

VG — I am not sure how Federer pronounces his first name. Being a French-speaking Swiss, it could well be Rojé (sorry, my transcription sucks but no English word that rhymes comes to mind). Would that make a difference to you? ;-)

R, Mirka is a fine-looking woman, don't get me wrong, she just isn't my type, that's all. And I'm happy for the couple, really. *runs away from the lynch mob* :-D

So what perfumes does SHE like?

Oh, there's just repeatedly a discussion in Swiss newspapers on how Roger isn't getting himself a model girlfriend and how he can resist temptation when he could have so many beautiful women etctetc. Totally sexist and insulting, and obviously written by people who don't know that a good relationship is not based on looks alone.

Ah, the big question! She used to love Gucci Rush but now finds it a bit too much; I think Hugo Boss Deep Red is her favorite but hasn't worn it since she drained the bottle; then there's Ghost Deep Night, to my nose similar to the Hugo Boss; Shalimar she liked but says she can't wear it because she associates it with a close friend; Prada EDP was ok, which is strange as she can't stand patchouli. Oh, and Jil Sander Sport was lovely on her (on her own admission). Jelena (can't keep repeating 'she') generally has a problem with (many) fragrances that smell chemical or 'artificial' and likes roundedness, fullnes in a perfume. SL appeals to her for the line's imaginativeness and innovation and I remember Mandarine Mandarin being a winner when she tried it from the wax sample. She's also quite fond of my FT but again, only when she smells it on me. Sigh.

You know, R, you really don't have to ponder much on this, you've too much on your hands as it is!

Well, as a disinterested observer who just spent 3 minutes looking at pictures of these people about whom I know nothing, I thought they were of about equal attractiveness — both cute, no big deal. Perhaps he is widely seen as gorgeous, but if he is, I'd say that's due to other factors. And agree totally — looks aren't everything!

Well, Roger is German-speaking Swiss, so Rojé wouldn't be it! But when he says his own name (on British TV, so could be Anglicising it for us), he says 'Roger' just like Roja, as in Dove. Does 'roger' have the same lewd meaning in other places as it does in the UK? Here, for a man to 'roger' a woman is to em, er, hum, fluck her, you get my meaning? It's a name that tends to generate childish giggles here. Like Randy.

Is she happy w/ what she's got? Or is just that you're not happy, LOL? Don't worry — I am no good at recommending things anyway, I was just curious. But of course she is welcome to do the Monday Mail if she's interested!

I agree, I just spent those same minutes looking at people I know nothing about as well….and they do seem to be of about equal attractiveness! And I think he is more famous than gorgeous. In fact she might rate a little higher than him in looks…I think she is quite pretty and natural looking —unlike the plasticized, reformulated (surgically) females that the media pushes on our sensibilities!

oh, this is a perfume blog? uh, I'm not familiar with this scent…..
    ;-)

Nillagirl, here in the states, the 'other' meaning for roger is non-existent for most……for example: while watching Monty Python and the Holy Grail, at the line “Roger, roger the shrubber.” I start cackling, everyone looks at me like why is his name humorous? Then I have to explain…and admit that I'm prone to a childish giggle now and then myself.
