Fifi Awards Semi-finalists 2009

Fifi Award statueThe Fragrance Foundation has announced the semi-finalists for the 2009 Fifi Awards, known as the “Oscars of the fragrance industry”. Can I have some fun and pick some finalists according to me? :o ) (I will try to be objective here) :
For Women’s Luxe, I would keep in the final :
    Chanel No. 5 Eau Premiere
    Jessica Simpson Fancy
Jean Paul Gaultier Ma Dame ( even if it didn't work for me)
    Estee Lauder Sensuous
The 5th one beats me so I am going to go with Burberry The Beat, just for the sake of the pun :o )
    Men’s Luxe
    Chanel Allure Homme Edition Blanche
    Juicy Couture Dirty English
Dolce & Gabbana The One for Men
    Guerlain Homme
    Prada Infusion D'Homme
    Women's Nouveau Niche
    Boucheron B de Boucheron
Bond No. 9 Andy Warhol Union Square
    Chloé Eau de Parfum
Jo Malone Dark Amber & Ginger Lily
    David Yurman Eau de Parfum
    Giorgio Armani Onde Collection
I don't know which one to drop out of the six, I haven't tested the Jo Malone yet.
    Men's Nouveau Niche, I'd keep:
    Burberry The Beat for Men
    Cartier Roadster
Jo Malone Sweet Lime & Cedar
    But I don't know the others :o )
    Unique Boutique:
    Acqua di Parma Profumo
    Guerlain Cruel Gardenia
Guerlain Les Elixirs Charnels Gourmand Coquin
    Amouage Jubilation 25
Chanel Les Exclusifs de Chanel Beige
Tom Ford Private Blend Champaca Absolute
I haven't smelled the ELd'O and the Lisa Hoffmans yet. Have you had a chance to smell these, R?

Nice picks! I haven't smelled those, & also didn't smell the new version of AdP or either of those Guerlains. If it were me, I'd pick Jubilation, with a close 2nd place to the Beige.

my finalists would be… womens luxe: Sensuous, The Beat, Ma Dame mens luxe: Infusion D Homme, The One, Guerlain Homme womens niche: Union Square, B, Chloe mens niche: The Beat, Roadster, Essence unique: Tom Ford, Azzaro, KL Woody Im very surprised/dissapointed not to see Magifique on the list! i really loved it and it was very well done! it was so much nicer then Notorious, Viva La Juicy, Guess, and Fancy(?)! it would have been my #2 next to Sensuous which i adore!

I was also very surprised that Magnifique didn't make the cut…I too thought it was much better than many of the others that did make the final list.

I don't know if the MC was nominated (brands have to nominate their own fragrances and pay a fee).

So what happened to the reported categories for “best blog” and, was it “parfum extraordinaire” or something — one for, as they put it, “the actual juice.” (Which totally cracked me up — I mean, what exactly are the others for?)

I guess that “parfum extraordinaire” thing will be announced at the Fifi breakfast next month? Not sure. Guessing the blog category nominees will be announced then too…but it is “best article in a blog” and not “best blog overall” — and again, you have to nominate yourself.
