Stock up now…

…if you loved Fendi Palazzo. Women’s Wear Daily reports that it’s been axed. My advice, which nobody asked for: keep the fabulous bottle, fill it with the (also discontinued) Fendi Theorema.

What a shame that the juice was no match for the fab bottle. The Theorema idea is a brainwave, though…

I so wish they'd bring back the original! That was their best scent, IMHO…

Yeah, guess what: I have been procrastinating on the theorema uomo for years! I'm gonna get a bottle right after work tonight! :-)

I guess this is the downside of conglomerates handling perfume houses, n'est pas?

Robin, the Original Fendi for women (The ad just said “Fendi Di Roma” if I recall correctly) was very very nice in a late 80's kind of way.

It has been many years since I've smelled it but I recalled being impressed by it the first time. (my geography teacher used to wear it). She was beautiful, but the perfume was killer. ;-)

I guess nowadays both how she looked and her perfume would seem dated. Still, it was quality stuff.

Yes, I'm nursing my last bottle. I wear and adore many fragrances, but the original Fendi and Magie Noire, although dated, are totally “me”. They are in the catagory of: “If stranded on a desert island, what perfume would I bring?”.

Sounds like you've got nice memories of it! I'd certainly try it if I saw it…maybe I'll look in the weird hole-in-the-wall kiosk at my mall, they often have stuff like this.

Oh drat, and you've only got 1 bottle? That's a shame.

I know, I am not looking forward to the day when it finally disappears.

Fortunately there are still bottles available on-line. I hope to get a bottle or two in the near future. I am watching online carefully…..

I actually don't mind Palazzo. I find it a pleasant powdery fragrance but not one I reach for often. I do adore Theorema though and have a large full bottle for emergencies.

Sounds like you don't necessarily need to hoard the Palazzo then…

Marshall's and TJMaxx used to have Fendi regularly.

I loved the original Fendi, too, and am hoarding it like there is not tomorrow.

I remember smelling Fendi when I was a late teen and thinking it was amazing, even though I never got a bottle. It seemed a little intimidating to me at the time. I've always off and on thought of getting a bottle. Same as with Asja. It seems a tragedy that all these interesting “Italian” fragrances are being discontinued, especially at a time when niches are all getting into leathers, chypres, smokes, and all other manner of dark and interesting.

Today, as I was passing through the local Kmart to buy diapers, I stopped to glance into the locked glass frag counter. They had 3 bottles of Fendi. I probably would have taken a pass before, but now that things have changed, I picked one up. The lady who helped me at the counter was interested – I said, they aren't going to make this anymore. She said, there are a lot of good perfumes they don't make anymore.

    Amen.

The opening is a bit stiff and heavy. (I think this could be entered into the Feminite du Bois show down) But the drydown is gorgeous dry leathery chypre richness. I keep thinking about all the threads on NST and elsewhere that are about chypres and leathers and awesome major league frags like Knowing, Azuree, Paloma, etc etc. What a breed.

AnnS, thanks for the tip on Kmart…

I am stocking up, and just ordered two bottles online, they arrived yesterday, broken…. buggers.

The UPS man said the box made his truck smell wonderful and what was that fragrance?? :P
