Amouage Ubar ~ perfume relaunch

Amouage Ubar fragrance

This month, Amouage will reintroduce Ubar for Woman, a 1995 fragrance that has been unavailable for the last few years. Ubar has been reformulated and is now in new packaging (see above).

Niche luxury fragrance house Amouage has reintroduced ‘Ubar’ for Woman, a sophisticated and mystical perfume inspired by the rediscovery of the long lost ancient Arabian frankincense trading city of Ubar, called the ‘Atlantis of the Sands’ by Lawrence of Arabia and which was rediscovered in 1992 in the South of Oman.

The evocative fragrance infuses reference points from Ubar’s mystery and splendour…

‘Ubar’ opens with a fresh and citrus aroma of Bergamot, Lemon and Lily-of-the-Valley in the top notes which then harmoniously pervades to a soft and romantically floral blend of Damascene Rose and Jasmine in the heart note. The fragrance is rounded off with sweet and velvety notes of Civet and Vanilla in the rich base.

Amouage Ubar will be available in 50 and 100 ml Eau de Parfum. (via press release)

    I don't get it – I expected incense – but no incense?

It'd be interesting to try, so far I've loved every Amouage scent I've tried and they are soooo pricey.

Don't know if it has incense or not, but not all Amouage fragrances do…

I could literally kick myself for not buying it when it was still sold in the old bottle. I think a 15 ml bottle was $60?? And I loved it, too. Dumb, dumb, dumb.

    Sigh–HIndsight is always 20/20…

(((Robin))) Loving perfume comes with so many regrets! Luckily many thrills too!
Do you remember what you liked about it?
I will be putting this on my sample list.

I too have loved all the Amouage(s) I've tried, although surprisingly, they don't last that well on me (good news for my pocket book). This sounds like it would be just lovely. Like Divinemama, I would also like to know what you got from it Robin when you tried it.

Oh, woe is me, another new (relaunch, whatevs) perfume to *want*
I recently fell head over heels in love with Amouage Lyric woman.

But you'd think they could fit some in this one, since they named it after an ancient hub of the frankincense trade! Maybe it's in the “rich base”?

You must be terribly excited, although with some trepidation, since it's reformulated. Please do tell us if it's as you remembered it. I know you really loved it.

I'm squinting one eye closed real tight as I put this on my exponentially expanding “got to try” list. I'm already anxiously awaiting the arrival of my first 3 samples of Amouage: Dia, Lyric and Jubilations 25…..everything I hear about Amouage seems to be immediately followed by heavy sighs and/or lip smacking…and looking at the prices makes my eyeballs hurt! …..which means I'll probably LOVE them….egad, I'm sooo in trouble.

Could be that it has some, I'll have to dig around for my sample of the original & see if I can tell. But they really have done several good incense scents, so I don't begrudge them a few without.

    Yep!

Hope you will like your Amouage samples! But best for you, I guess, would be that you enjoy trying them but don't need any full bottles :-)

You know it! just the amount I've spent at The Permuned Court, Luckyscent and Posh Peasant recently is nothing short of ,well, cringe-o-rriffic….a bottle of Amouage will put my credit card in intensive care! I almost hope that I end up saying “nice, but what's all the fuss?” If I love it I will try to control myself but my resistance level is pretty low (read: non-existent)

    sigh….

    oops…that's supposed to be “perfumed court”…..guess that's why there's a preview button provided….hmmm…..hope you don't grade on spelling. ;-)

Except 15ml @ $60 still sounds awfully dang pricey, no? LOL

Yes! It wasn't cheap. But it won't be in 15 ml now, so guessing it will cost more to get my hands on some.

It was just a gorgeous, rich scent — beautiful smooth sandalwood base. I'd still got a few drops somewheres & will have to find the vial.

That's a pretty one. Happily for me, I like it very much but didn't fall head over heels. Still hankering after a bottle of Jubilation XXV though!

Yep, loving Amouage brings it's own brand of pain…… they are exquisite though.

Doesn't that just drive you crazy?

I haven't actually tried Jubilation for men or women or either of the Lyrics as I just know that I will love them and the price scares me. Best I don't find out how much I will love them until my funds are more buoyant. (yeah right, like THAT is ever going to happen!)
