Perfume in the magazines: Allure & Elle, November 08

Perfume coverage in the November issues of Allure and Elle, and please comment on any fragrance coverage you've seen in other fashion & beauty magazines lately:

Allure

Allure, November 2008Cover: Eva Longoria Parker.

Scent strips: Calvin Klein Secret Obsession, Christian Dior Miss Dior Cherie, Britney Spears Believe, Versace Pour Homme, Marc Jacobs Daisy, Paris Hilton Fairy Dust, Victoria's Secret Dream Angels Wish.

Editorial coverage: The Beauty Reporter section includes a “Smell This” feature in which passersby comment on the new Juicy Couture Viva La Juicy (p. 60), and a men's grooming page about Patrick Dempsey and his new Unscripted scent for Avon.

On the Scent (p. 66) is a feature with advice on “buying, wearing, and loving” perfume. Perfumistas won't learn anything new, but it might have helpful advice for beginners. My favorite line: “If there's something you smell and like on a man, by all means, try it. You have the power to make it unisex.”

Elle

Elle, November 2008Cover: Nicole Kidman.

Scent strips: Ralph Lauren Notorious, Armani Code, Dolce & Gabbana The One.

Editorial coverage: “Notes From Underground” (p. 298) examines the “buzzing” online community of “fragrance freaks”. If you're reading this now, presumably you're already in the know, but it's an entertaining read all the same.

The “It List” of beauty “must haves” for the month (p. 304) includes Kenzo Amour Le Parfum and Emporio Armani Diamonds Intense.

Notes from the Underground sounds fun to read!

O Magazine has scent strips this month for: Paloma Picasso (!), Emporio Armani Diamonds Intense, Polo Black & Double Black,

“Look What We Found!” column (p.121) features Lancome Magnifique, Vera Wang Look, and RL Notorious

Instyle has scent strips this month for: CK Euphoria, Miss Dior Chérie, and Mariah Cary Luscious Pink

“Fragrance” column (p. 232) features “Scent Sets” – DKNY Be Delicious Golden Rollerball set, Clinique Happy-To-Go scented pencils set, and Jo Malone Tasting Kit (Pomegranate Noir with Raspberry, Casablanca Lily, and Guaiacwood for layering)

    Thank you so much!!

And wow, Paloma Picasso! I wonder if they're relaunching it, or if a new company has taken over the license.

Nordstrom is using some of the quotes from Allure as a visual for Fragrance. We're seeing more new customers coming in after reading this issue, looking for samples and to try some of the products mentioned.

The backsides of the article is covered in Nordstrom clip-out coupons, which I'm sure you've seen — in fact, I mistook the article for paid content when I first saw it.

W has scent strips for B by Boucheron and Love, Ralph Lauren. Both seem worth smelling in person.
Short articles on Karl Lagerfeld's Kapsules and Vera Wang's Look. The Wang sounds nasty – one of those fruity floral ozonic “green waters” things.
Several snippets about this and that – nothing not mentioned here, lots of perfume ads.

Thanks Tama! Have seen a few reports on VW Look, and none of them are good.

Help! I'm feeling a weeny bit ripped off…. just received my Allure with Eva on the cover, and it doesn't have the scent strips for Calvin Klein Secret Obsession, Britney Spears Believe, or Marc Jacobs Daisy. It does have scent strips for Christian Dior Miss Dior Cherie, Versace Pour Homme, Paris Hilton Fairy Dust, and Victoria's Secret Dream Angels Wish. Wierd!? Maybe because I'm an overseas subscriber, I get a small version of the mag?! Or am I missing something here :P

You know, I really don't know a thing about how that works. I assumed they were all the same, but perhaps the ads are all regional?
