Halle by Halle Berry ~ new fragrance

Halle BerryAs previously reported, Halle Berry’s debut fragrance with Coty is expected to launch next spring. Halle by Halle Berry will debut in March. Berry, who was reportedly “mixing her own” blends prior to developing her signature fragrance, says the new fragrance is “a real, true expression of who I am”.

Halle is a woody oriental featuring Berry’s favorite notes, fig and mimosa. Additional notes include bergamot, pear blossom, freesia, hibiscus, ultra mimosa, sandalwood, driftwood, cashmere musk, olibanum and sensual amber.

Halle by Halle Berry will be available in 15, 30 and 50 ml Eau de Parfum and in matching body products (via wwd)

well, here's to something interesting. I think my favourite of all the celeb scents in recent years has been Hilary Duff With Love. I knew Berry was a fan of L'artisan's fig and mimosa scents (also MPG Tubereuse, but I don't like tuberose, so let's not go there) so it'll be interesting to see if there are noticeable similiarities – at least in inspiration.

“Ultra mimosa”, because obviously a star of the magnitude of Halle Berry couldn't anoint herself with plain old mimosa.
I swear, the accord names are getting stupider by the day.

I'd love to know what she's been layering — wouldn't be surprised if it was those 2 L'Artisans.

I kind of like it though — it's sort of a warning that you needn't expect anything that smells like the real thing, you know?

'With Love' is one of my favourites, It's one that you can wear happily day or night and probably at any age :-)

unrelated – but I just saw a short Q&A with Jacques Polges on the vanity fair website – the new beauty section, I think.

I think this one is going to be “mid-tier department stores” and mass-market — I'll certainly try it if I see it, but can't tell from that designation if it will be in places like Macy's or not.

Geez, she is one beautiful woman! I hope the fragrance lives up to her beauty and talent, a la Deneuve's fragrance, but I won't hold my breath.

R, she's simply gorgeous. I don't think I'd like fig + mimosa no matter how well done it was, so I'm not holding my breath either ;-)

I remember reading somewhere that she layers LA Mimosa with LA Vanilia.

Halle Berry is in the top 10 most Beautiful Women in the world, IMO. I can't wait to smell this, but 50 Ml is the biggest? Oh my! Maybe this will only be sold at Walgreens and those type of stores. COTY is starting to do that now with their fragrances. BabyPhat, Tim McGraw, Shania Twain, Celine Dion, etc.

I have heard more than once how “WELL” Hilary Duff's Fragrance “With Love” was and i can't see it at all… it was Cheap and Linear and Synthetic without any of the charm that Synthetic can sometimes allude to! it smells “GIRLY” in the extreme and “CELEBRITY” in the utmost. Now, Strangely, I loved both of Mariah Carey's “CELEBRITY” Scents and both are actually extremely well constructed and finished! I am hoping the same for Ms. Berry's Fragrance. It sounds like it will be awfully Nice, Loving the Pear Blossom and Olibanum and Freesia together with Sandalwood and Amber! Sounds Quite Unexpected and Lovely! am hoping it lives up to expectations!

I loooove all three of Mariah Carey's fragrances! Well, both, should I say.

Wait, wasn't “Ultra Mimosa” part of the Andy Warhol Factory group? Just kidding.

Wait, is “mixing her own blends” the same as layering two different fragrances? I took it to mean she was playing around with essential oils like I used to do until the guy sitting next to me on an airplane said, “What perfume are you wearing? It's REALLY spicy!”

This stuff doesn't sound too bad but I've not got a real clear picture of “fig” in my head yet. Could be tricky to pull off.

Perhaps her next fragrance will be called Berry Berry…

Yes, I'm guessing it's in about the same tier as those — it's from Coty Beauty, not Coty Prestige.

(But adding: Baby Phat is from Coty Prestige)

We'll have to agree to disagree — I thought it was one of the better celeb scents of the past few years.

That Baby Phat Black Goddess is only available at walgreens and walmart and those other stores. I wonder why they did that

    Sure, why not?

  29. Anonymous
    Posted on 4 October 2008

That was kind of unusual, don't know why they did it. Maybe testing the mass market, so to speak?

This is very fruity on me–like a fizzy cocktail with a little fig and a cute umbrella–but I like it. It’s very sheer and fits with the “beachy vacation” vibe of the advertising and website. To compare, I ordered Bodytime’s “Green Fig” oil awhile ago, and while I like it, its just too overwhelming to actually wear; not unlike being smothered by a giant fig! This is much, much lighter and more wearable. But it is very sweet, for those of you who cannot stand sweet fragrances.

Also, I really like the smaller bottles–why can’t everyone do that? So nice to be able to buy a 1 oz. bottle!

I saw it at Penneys over the weekend and sniffed it – I’d be shocked if you liked it, Robin. I sniffed it several times trying to figure out what other scent it smelled like before it finally came to me – Pink Sugar.

One caveat though, I only sprayed it on the scent strip they had for it (although it was the size of a Post-it). I was already wearing Kenzo Amour and didn’t want to spray the Halle on skin, so it’s possible that it would develop into something less sweet after the top notes faded.

I absolutely love this fragrance. I really appreciate that it does not smell like every other perfume out there. It is sensual, feminine, fruity, woody & oriental. The smell changes a little as time goes on, ends up more oriental. LOVE IT! !
