Honestly I can't really say why I like this one so much - normally lighter vanilla scents don't really do it for me, and this doesn't even really hit my amber radar. There is just something about the opening that I'm really responding to. I can say however, that this morning when I woke up I could still smell the light labdanum on my skin. I was impressed with that. I'll be interested to read the review. I'm also glad EL has the small size bottle - very considerate of us collectors.

I think Angela will review it next week -- it isn't my cup of tea, but not likely that anything called Amber Ylang Ylang would be.

I just picked up a bottle of this. It is VERY pretty, and I'll use it more as a vanilla comfort scent than as a sexy amber. The opening is just about the prettiest opening I've smelled in a long time. I hardly detect any amber or labdanum in the edp - not like I'm used to: Coco, Prada, SSS Rose Musc, etc. But it is very very pretty, and I have been looking for a vanilla-y frag that isn't too sweet or gourmand. If you don't want sweet or gourmand, this one is it. The ylang ylang is very controlled here so it doesn't have that too nutty smell. The yy is not nearly as strong as in Caron's Nuit de Noel. Actually, Amber YY smells like a very pretty floraly version of a very dried down NdN....it hardly has any sillage. I think this will sell well as noted above, but it registers more a as a flannel PJs sexy than a silk nightie sexy...This is not meant to be an insult, but Amber YY will definitely be training wheels for young woman interested in getting into more expensive frags. It is better than most of the recent releases I've smelled this fall.

I can see the comparison, although can also see why you'd love one and not the other :-)

Hi Robin,
Got another smell-alike comment for you: Amber Ylang Ylang = Guerlain Spiritueuse Double Vanille. Looking at the notes, the two fragrances have a number in common. Does anyone else get the similarity?

I am quite interested in trying this perfume as I like both amber and ylang-ylang and in general I am a fan of Estee Lauder.
I should check if the stores down here in Dublin has it so I can try it!
