What I like best about Vetiver Dance (and Keiko Mecheri Genie Des Bois per my earlier comment) is the “bracing” green top note. (I think also smell something similar in cbihateperfume Revelation, but its more earthy.) Its powerful, but not necessarily in a big sillage type way.

Is the phrase to describe this green-ness I enjoy so much chypre?

I get a lot of black pepper and citrus and clary sage in the opening but for some reason the combination reminds me of chicory (I'm from New Orleans- so that may have something to do with it. We drink chicory in our coffee down here.)

The citrus fades as I wear it (which is good for me b/c citrus tends to turn to sweaty socks on my skin). I smell a lot of green and a lot of pepper throughout the day when I wear this, and in the end it dries down to a powdery woods smell. I don't find it to be overly powdery, but when I was discussing the smell with my boyfriend he noted that he found it quite powdery. (I think it could be a unisex fragrance, but he disagrees on account of the powder.)
